The Book of Signs - 31 Undeniable Prophecies of The Apocalyspe - Dr. David Jeremiah

Very respected Evangelical preacher, he also writes/preaches a lot about end times. Pretty standard Evangelical theology but also has his own wisdom infused in the book. Just started reading it the other day so no real opinion(s) yet.

thinking about reading maps of meaning, I looked at it and it seems wise and interesting. it's a book by jordan peterson that deals with mythology and some psychology.

Currently I am reading:

Code Girls by Liza Mundy - It's a true story about the women who solved coding in WWII

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson - Is a thriller/mystery about a man and hacker girl who join forces to solve a cold case that's stumped everyone for years. I've watched the movie but reading the book is always better.

A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay - Is a thriller/mystery about a man who stumbles upon a friend disposing of a body and almost getting killed himself, it causes him to have nightmares and ptsd over it. Soon his wife gets him a typewriter to help ease his mind and get his thoughts out and maybe write the novel he's always wanted to write, but soon he starts to feel haunted like he can hear the typewriter typing... while he's upstairs.

In the Woods by Tana French - Yet again another thriller/mystery (are we sensing a pattern here?) about two different stories one where three boys went into the woods but only one emerged and claims he doesn't remember what happened, when he grows up he becomes a detective and starts to investigate a case very similar to the one that happened when he was a child.

Grave Peril by Jim Butcher - It's book 3 of the Dresden Files, it's sci-fi/fantasy-ish type book. It was recommended to me by someone and I admit the series isn't -great- but it's good enough that it's kept my attention and I keep wanting to read a bit more to see where it goes, lol. Anyone else read this series?

The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond - It's a thriller/mystery, apparently it's about this couple that recently got married and they join this couples club that like has all these rules to make your marriage better or something. And then of course one of the members wants to leave but it's kind of like Hotel California - you can join any time you like but you can never leave. lol

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon - Yes yes I fell into peer pressure, lol. I've seen so many people talk about this book/series. Mainly for the tv series but I rather read the books anyway. I guess it's historical fiction? I'm not even sure and I haven't gotten too far into the book yet to tell if I even like it yet. We shall see...

The Girl in the Red Coat by Kate Hamer - It's a mystery, it's about a little girl who goes missing and ends up being kidnapped by this man who I think possibly joins her into a cult. I believe that's where it's heading if my gut is right.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah - Historical fiction. By far one of my favorite books I'm reading. A vietnam vet is unhappy with his life, can't keep a steady job, has PTSD and just wants to live a secluded life so he decides to take his wife and his 14 y/o daughter to Alaska where an Army buddy left him his house and land. The story tells of how they survive the awful winters and how they fix their cabin up and the people they meet along the way of their adventure. It IS a fiction but I've read plenty of non-fiction books about how people did this around the same time and it's really fascinating how people can live off the grid like that.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu - Fantasy. So again, not really my cup of tea but I watch the Ballinger family on Youtube and one of them was reading this book and I thought I'd give it a whirl. So far it's actually pretty interesting. It's basically about this girl who gets the "blood fever" when she's little and survives it, having the blood fever she ends up gaining these powers. Others called the Young Elites also have different powers due to the fever and they are trying to find each other and survive together.

Sooo yeah. :sorry: Im always up for recommendations. Even if I am reading 10 books :p

Yes, same! lol

Do you ever get in reading slumps though? Where you take a break and nothing really sounds interesting? I recently went through that and now I'm back into the phase of "must read all of the books at once" lol

Yes! Most definitely. Sometimes can't decide what period of history to read, or to read a saga, or fantasy/sci fi, etc.

Do you ever read historical fictions?
I have. My favorite historical fiction novels are from Steven Pressfield. He wrote Gates of Fire about Sparta's stand at Thermopylae against the Persians, Tides of War about Alcibiades and the Peloponnesian War, Virtues of War about Alexander the Great and Killing Rommel about Britain's fight against the Afrika Korps in WWII. He's written others but those are the ones I've read.

Awesome, thank you! I will check these out. I've been in a history fiction obsession lately. lol

The latest one I read and absolutely loved was A Piece of the World by Christina Baker Kline. It's about the story of the woman in the painting "Christina's World" which is one of my favorite pieces of art. It was painted by Andrew Wyeth. The reason it's a historical fiction and not an actual biography is because Christina Olsen (the woman in the painting) was passed away by the time the author was writing the book and she had to go off of very few letters to make actual communication in the book.

All in all it was very interesting and I loved it.

I'm also reading The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah which is a very good book so far. I'll post about it when I'm finished. It's about roughing it in Alaska. lol
