Hi Family,

The Old and New Testament speaks of blessings and curses.

How do they lay to rest?

How do you know if you are under a blessing or curse?

What type of curses and blessing are there?

How do you remove a curse?

Where do they originate?

What other questions should be asked?

Proverbs 26:2

An undeserved curse will not settle.

Galatians 3:13

Jesus became a curse for us.

This applied to the curse of the Law.

If there is a question about if one is under some other curse, this would need to be spiritually discerned.

In Jesus one would find it hard to understand how a curse would be deserved.

Being cursed does not mean that the curse can settle and be effective.

Blessings,

Carl Emerson.

There are the curses that belong to the Creation according to Genesis 3 which are inherited through Adam and Eve's disobedience. Those curses were referred to in very general terms such as sorrow, pain, and frustration. This would encompass everyday experience to some degree.
These will not end until Christ returns and renews the created order.

One thing that I've noticed is that it seems that when one is placed under a curse, they get notified in some way. It doesn't seem like people just go around completely unaware that they are cursed. I would think that if there were some curse put upon someone today, they would somehow know. So I'm thinking that if you don't know that you are cursed, you very likely aren't.

Some believe that we can be effected by generational curses.

Deuteronomy 5:9

Again such matters need legitimate spiritual discernment.

Blessings,

Carl Emerson.

"Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin." - Deuteronomy 24:16

I believe Deuteronomy 5:9 refers to what we read in Ezekiel 18, that such curses/storing up of wrath are passed on to the next generation if the sinning continues in each generation (such as we read about the kings of Israel and Judah, and the Exile).

Only if the Holy Spirit reveals it and if He does reveal it we have to be sensitive to the Spirit.

Not true. You only get notified if you have the Spirit and can hear His voice. And if you are walking in the Spirit, a curse won't stick anyway. I know from personal experience.

James 3:
6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. 7 For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. 8 But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; 10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing.

Even if you are filled with the Spirit you are still capable of cursing someone with the words of your mouth, but only if they deserve it. If they don't, it will not stick to them. Proverbs 26:2. "Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight." Unfortunately, even if they profess to be a Christian, but they are practicing sin, a curse can stick like glue, and they won't know it.

I know because I went to a counseling session at church because I was so hurt by a "friend" and also God. Because of her I lost my apartment of 9 years in Beverly Hills, and my job. Needless to say, we were no longer speaking. That is the short version. During the session I said the words, "I just wish she would lose everything and see how if feels."

Immediately she lost her job, and her baby (from a one-night stand) became ill. For nine months she couldn't find another job and had to depend on friends to pay her bills.

One day the Lord spoke to me and told me I had placed a curse on S____, and that is why she was in such a state. Even though we were no longer friends, I called her and told her the Lord just showed me I had placed a curse on her, wishing she would lose everything to see how if feels, and I needed to go over to her place and remove it immediately. She agreed, and I went to her place and I had her sit in a chair at the table and I placed my hand on her head and prayed and asked that the curse be removed. I then prayed blessings over her, and left. Within a week she had a job and her baby got well.

Needless to say, I watch my words. Even Paul turned someone over to Satan for the destruction of their flesh. That was a curse. The destruction of the flesh is not physical death, but for them to repent and receive a new nature.

I've already posted this a few times but the story of Saint Cyprian (The Sorcerer before his Christian Conversion) was trying to get Saint Justina (304 A.D.) to fall in love with Aglaias using demons and sorcery but Justina used The Sign of the Cross, prayer and fasting to have victory from God against them. It reminds me kind of what you are talking about:

The Lives of Sts. Cyprian and Justina

Cyprian called Aglaias and sent him to sprinkle the house of Justina secretly with the contents of the demon's vessel. When this had been done, the demon of fornication entered the house with the flaming arrows of fleshly lust in order to wound the heart of the maiden with fornication, and to ignite her flesh with impure lust.

Justina had the custom every night to offer up prayers to the Lord. And behold, when, according to custom, she arose at the third hour of the night and was praying to God, she suddenly felt an agitation in her body, a storm of bodily lust and the flame of the fire of gehenna. In such agitation and inward battle she remained for quite a long time; the youth Aglaias came to her mind, and shameful thoughts arose in her. The maiden marveled and was ashamed of herself, feeling that her blood was boiling as in a kettle; now she thought about that which she had always despised as vile. But in her good sense Justina understood that this battle had arisen in her from the devil; immediately she turned to The Weapon Of The Sign Of The Cross, hastened to God with fervent prayer, and from the depths of her heart cried out to Christ her Bridegroom: "O Lord, my God, Jesus Christ! Behold how many enemies have risen up against me and have prepared a net in order to catch me and take away my soul. But I have remembered Thy name in the night and have rejoiced, and now when they are close about me I hasten to Thee and have hope that my enemy will not triumph over me. For thou knowest, O Lord my God, that I, Thy slave, have preserved for Thee the purity of my body and have entrusted my soul to Thee. Preserve Thy sheep, O good Shepherd; do not give it over to be eaten by the beast who seeks to devour me; grant me victory over the evil desire of my flesh."

Having prayed long and fervently, the holy virgin put the enemy to shame. Being conquered by her prayer, he fled from her with shame, and again there came a calm in Justina's body and heart; the flame of desire was quenched, the battle ceased, the boiling blood was stilled. Justina glorified God and sang a song of victory.

The demon, on the other hand, returned to Cyprian with the sad news that he had accomplished nothing. Cyprian asked him why he had not been able to conquer the maiden. The demon, even against his will, revealed the truth: "I Could Not Conquer Her Because I Saw On Her A Certain Sign Of Which I Was Afraid."

Does it remove all illnesses of the body? How is that different from illnesses of the spiritual world?
Frequently, it does.

There are many stories about this in the history of the pre-Reformation churches.

Well, I've never tried putting a curse on anyone and have never been under a curse, so I'm just going by what I've seen happen in scriptures, such as when God cursed the ground in front of Adam and Eve (so they knew) or cursed Noah's sons (so they knew), Nebuchadnezzar (once he got his mind back, he knew) or someone in the gospels was demon possessed (everyone in the town knew), etc.

Why do you think S____ didn't know? I didn't know for a long time, until He finally spoke to me and told me what I had done and when.

It sounded from your post that S____ didn't know until you told her? While I do believe your story, I also believe that *most* of the time when people go through bad times in their lives, they are simply just going through bad times in their lives, so I think we need to be careful before deciding that we are under some sort of curse.

Of course it helps happens. You are correct. I was just raising the issue that not all spiritual...like not all physical leave upon salvation.

In fact it is best and appropriate to do deliverance on the saved because the house will not be empty with the Holy Spirit.

True. What amazed me the most is that my words had such power. It confirms the scriptures.
