• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I heard that 33% of Australians will get some kind of cancer because the hole in the ozone is over Australia? I bet it is so hot there. I feel thankful that I live in Texas.

Yes we Australians suffer from a very high skin cancer rates. For years they told us to protect ourselves with sun screens but now it seems that sun screens also cause cancer.

About it being hot in Australia. Yes Australia is a hot country though not where i live. i live on the south west coast of Western Australia we have very mild weather usually. This Summer our highest temperature was 95 F and that for only one day all the other days our temperatures have been between 70 and low 80s so i wouldn't call it hot.

The highest temperature we ever suffered where we live was 120 F that was about 25 years ago though. now 100 F is rare to happen.

How have you been faring otherwise brother? Has the depression lifted somewhat? i hope so.

Blessings

that part of Australia does not sound so bad. what are the lowest temps there? we got to 20 f a month or 2 or whatever ago. that would be -6.66667 in c, made me chuckle. well 120f sounds pretty awful :o.

I don't feel crushed by depression. I have contentment in what i'm being like for the most part. i'm perplexed as to why i'm evil or a failure for offing myself. I take delight in the good things humans do. in general I feel blessed. I don't care for the suffering aspect of reality anymore. I don't like people falling apart. I don't like having to always try to support others in a system that i'm not compatible with.

30 F would be our lowest morning temperature but then we will have a nice day at around 60F Winter day time temperatures are around 50-65 F. Like i said we are in a mild zone.

Originally i'm Dutch i was born and raised in The Netherlands. i came to this region in 1980 when i was 20 years old. Indeed i didn't like the cold weather and found The Netherlands to regulated. Australia seemed like a perfect option at the time, though Australia has become very regulated as well over all these years, The Netherlands has become even much worse.

i love Australia and overall love her people especially the original custodians of the land. i feel privileged that i'm allow to live here.

Thank you Jeshu for your love and reply. Things are slowly looking up and God is helping in many ways to things are working. Talking to my significant other is a huge help as well, he's so understanding and being there for each other is a big help to besides prayer and trusting in the Lord. One car is back on the road, I gotten into a little harder than a fender bender bent my hood and grill is well toast. It was my fault. Was merging and was in a bad area anyway even the police said was in a tough area. The car is drivable just now need to replace the grill. I have been sore since Tuesday of this past week like late March since today is first of April. I was on way to therapy, now had to change it to later date, and had to move few appointments down as well till we can be sure that a car is able to get me to places safely. I'm such a clux at times.. Anyways getting the house into spring cleaning mode and mowing the yard its fun to learn a new machinery just taking things a day a time. One of my favorite songs right now is that One day at a time and Take me into the Holy of Holyies I listen on you tube and wow just amazing music brings tears to my eyes as I sing it.. Anyway, I hope y'all are doing ok and prayers for my fellow brothers and sisters I know life is tough we each have our own battle scars and dealings but dont ever think that we are alone because we arent. God is with us every step we take weather we are battling depression or not, I battle my depression but I know deep down the Lord is there helping me guiding me even though I come here for support and I support others we arent alone. I made peace with my family and love ones. But I have parts that I still struggle to forgive and thats between me and God to get through. Thats still a battle scar I have to deal and heal... :)

Good hearing from you. A pity about the car lets hope it will soon be back on the road and is safe enough to take you around.

i love how you always gain ability to cope from God and also look at your blessings when the going is hard.

Yes forgiving those who have trespassed against us can be very hard especially when they did a lot of damage. Glad you have made up with most of the family and loved ones at least. What really helped me forgiving people their crimes against me was was me understanding that they badly needed my forgiveness, for they had badly wronged me. The good thing of forgiving is the freedom it brings from the offenders, they can't harm you any longer with their bad life, for you have done away with it forgiving them. All the best sorting it out.

Blessings

I feel restless, on the verge of being depressed... that feeling of going into a hole that you get tired of trying to dig yourself out of. I've got a lot going on in my life and I'm trying to make decisions about things and stick with them and trying not to second guess myself.

Also part of me feels confident about said decisions, like I have God's approval on them, that I'm not just seeking my own pleasure without consulting Him.

So I'm just kind of a blah type mess right now. I'm all over the place honestly.

I’m concerned that I might be developing tardive dyskinesia which is a risk when taking anti psychotic medication. I’ve been developing a pretty bad grimace and frown Over the years while taking the meds. I’m not trying to frown but it is stuck to my face. I noticed my right thumb was twitching a lot tonight. I’m afraid I might be developing it. Even if I am I’m going to continue taking the meds but I’m just sad cuz I’ve only been taking them for something over 6 years now and I’m supposed to take them for life. I finally got my life together and will be graduating and starting to work within. Less than a year and I was hoping to work until I retire but now because I’m starting to develop this I might become physically unable to work and have to go back on disability later and once again be dependent on family. I’ve been trying so hard to become independent and I thought I was starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel but now this. I hope I’m wrong but I can’t think of any time in the past when my thumb used to twitch like that. This sucks and makes me sad.

i'm sorry to hear that you got troubles from your medications. i take anti-psychotic medication as well and also run the risk of developing Tardive Dyskinesia. i've noticed that i constantly stick my tongue out of my mouth which i never used to do, but i got no twitches yet. Scary though isn't?
