Donald saying he thinks the public should see the report & making sure the public sees the report are 2 wildly different things.

There is a difference from the public seeing the document and the public seeing the document.

That, or you want the President to circumvent the DOJ and Congress.

There's a difference between the public seeing the officially released document & the public seeing the "leaked" manipulated document provided by the Russians using a useful idiot American as their conduit.

The House voted 420-0 to release the real Mueller Report to the public. The Senate then blocked the resolution to make it public. Sycophants of Donald's are trying to thwart efforts for such transparency.

Trump already agreed to give the full report (subject to various exclusions determined by Barr and the team).

...which means nothing. By tomorrow, he may change his mind.

DEMOCRATS SEEM NOT TO UNDERSTAND THE STATUTE
Mueller has zero responsibility to Congress. Mueller was required to provide a report to the AG. Mueller chose to give his recommendation with regard to a criminal case with regard to collusion. He said there was one. He chose not to make a recommendation with regard to obstruction. After this report, the AAG (who is required to decide these CRIMINAL decisions, accepted the recommendation on conclusion and gave none on obstruction.
========
Barr could have true information over to Congress with no decisions. Of course, that is the same as saying the the AG has chosen not to prosecute. After all, the Congress won't prosecute for obstruction; they cannot. Only the AG can prosecute. One can be sure that if Barr chose to prosecute, the Dems would have lining up in support. For them, this isn't about the rule of law.
=====
THE CONGRESSIONAL ROLES
1) They need to ascertain whether new laws need to be developed to deal with the threat of collusion, or even the threat of influence by foreign countries over the campaign, transition and administration, whether this involves elections or not.
2) They need to ascertain whether an impeachable offense has been committed.
3) I suppose that, through oversight, they can choose to make statements with regard to the officials involved, and their actions.

What canNOT do is to make a decision, wither way, with regard to prosecution for collusion or obstruction. That decision is wholly for the DOJ to make.

Mueller Report - no collusion and no obstruction

Given that Attorney General Barr had already written a 17 page unsolicited critique of the Mueller Investigation that he submitted to the White House in June 2018, the honourable thing to have done on his appointment would have been to "recuse" himself because he had already expressed a strong personal bias that favoured this President!

The 17 page letter was widely interpreted as Barr auditing for this President to secure the Attorney General position - it also brings into question his credibility when providing an accurate assessment of the Mueller Report!

On the whole, I think Barr is going to play this straight. He could not, in any case, expect to get away with seriously misrepresenting the report.

So, what is the difference between the public seeing the document and the public seeing the document ?

I personally know people who fell for the propaganda floating around Facebook that can be traced to the Russians.

I do as well. Several people in my facebook feed were Sharing stories (as if they were fact), which were later shown to be Russian propaganda. In real time, those stories were challenged, but generally speaking those who put forth the stories never questioned them even when they were shown to be false.

Trick of the human mind. We are more likely to remember that first thing we heard, not the rebuttal. Especially if that thing confirms what we already believe.

Not just the President, but no American conspired with Russia.
I beg to differ, there was collusion......

No one know why the administration denies Russian interference. We also don't know why administration and campaign folks lied so many times about LEGAL interactions with Russia.

Seems like it could be related to the part of the memo which says there's not enough in there to exonerate the president.

Speaking of which, anyone know when the thread title is going to be fixed to reflect that reality?

Believe it or not, the Democrats will be able to multitask, proposing new legislation and policies to counter the President's impulsive, poorly thought out, sociopathic proposals right alongside using the information in the Mueller report to continue their investigation.

The Justice Department should IMMEDIATELY step up security measures for the 2020 election. Trump has cut funds for securing our nation's elections from foreign interference.

Foreign interference was proven--and I agree with the report that there was no "collusion." Collusion requires intent, and the Trump family, to whom the idea of "doing business" meant dealing with Russian mobsters, money launderers, and the underworld, had no idea that they weren't supposed to run a campaign the way they did their shady business deals.

They were innocent on the basis of ignorance--culpable ignorance, since they should have done their homework, but ignorance because their corrupt business habits were so ingrained in them they didn't know how to stop themselves.

Trump's cutting funds for election security is akin to him saying (as he did in 2016): Russia, if you have the emails of Biden, Sanders, Gillibrand, Booker, Beto, Buttigieg, Harris, Klobuchar, etc. please release them immediately.

But the gig is up. He may have dodged a bullet--after openly obstructing the investigation numerous times, including his appointment of Barr--but America is on to him (except for his Congressional enablers and his shrinking base of fans.)
