Hi
@sk8brdkd, if you have not yet/or are not continuing to, be sure to pray (and that as often as you feel the need to do so), and tell the Lord that you are having trouble handling all that's coming at you right now (and ask Him for some relief
).
Thankfulness for the One who loves you so (as well for His gracious provision) can be a great way to escape negativity, as thankfulness (even for the very trials that we are facing in the moment) can cause a paradigm shift in our thinking and attitude .. e.g.
Romans 8:28, 32; Hebrews 12:7-11. And if the negativity of the trial itself is too much to be thankful for right now, then look for something small that has nothing to do with the trial, perhaps even something that gives you a moment's relief from the negativity, and be thankful to Him for that.
Missionary Elisabeth Elliot has an interesting take on negative feelings and what she did to escape them when she felt down.
Do you often feel like parched ground, unable to produce anything worthwhile? I do. When I am in need of refreshment, it isn't easy to think of the needs of others. But I have found that if, instead of praying for my own comfort and satisfaction, I ask the Lord to enable me to give to others, an amazing thing often happens - I find my own needs wonderfully met. Refreshment comes in ways I would never have thought of, both for others, and then, incidentally, for myself.
Here are some additional thoughts/quotes that I hope may prove to be valuable to you as well.
"I have learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of Ages" ~Charles Spurgeon
"Two words will help you cope when you run low on hope: accept and trust*." ~Charles Swindoll
"The secret is Christ in me, not me in a different set of circumstances" ~Elisabeth Elliot
"Instead of a river, God often gives us a brook, which may be running today and dried up tomorrow. Why? To teach us not to rest in our blessings, but in the Blesser Himself." ~A. W. Pink
"This hard place in which you perhaps find yourself is the very place in which God is giving you opportunity to look only to Him, to spend time in prayer, and to learn long-suffering, gentleness, meekness - in short, to learn the depths of the love that Christ Himself has poured out on all of us." ~Elisabeth Elliot
--David
p.s. - keep hanging on in the midst of this extended trial, always seeking Him and trusting Him (always remembering what He did for you and how much He loves you), always knowing that He is able to & and will keep His great promises to you as His child (which includes the promise that He will never give you more than you are able to handle .. cf
1 Corinthians 10:13, even though it may feel like He is right now). Like
@Loyce KG said above,
"You shall overcome my friend. Fight the good fight of faith."
Isaiah 40
31 Those who wait for (hope in) the Lord shall renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.
*If you have 14 minutes to spare, this is an excellent inspirational/encouraging video, an expansion/elaboration of sorts by Dr. Swindoll on subject of his quote above. He is a pastor and the former president/now chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary, and I suspect this message may have been part of one of Dallas' commencements.
