All prayers have already been answered.
Knock and the door will be opened unto you.
(So you can see)
You know, there was this one time, I knocked on a door and it totally opened in locked position .. just once tho. In application, context is important to consider.

Let their own table before them become a snare; and when they are at peace, let it become a trap. Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually. Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your burning anger overtake them. (Psalm 69:22–24)
Many of the Psalms consist of David's prayers against his (and God's) enemies. Not saying that these prayers are all endorsed by God, but they are more about the desire for God's JUSTICE.

Try a new perpective.

You have Spiritual Enemies in the heavenly realms watching what goes on. Your friend seems overly interested in what you do and who in particularly you pray for. Who's on the list? Sounds like he has an interest in you. You have a trust issue with this unwanted intrusion.

Now - here is a possibilty for the enemy to exploit.

Every person you pray for could be already having difficulties - isn't that why you are praying? On the other hand - the enemy could direct his attention to these people in the hope that you will start blaming your friend for the problem. Third, your faith is getting knocked by negative events that could be random. So - are you seeing clearly?

Keep praying. Keep your prayers private and don't share the details. Pray for your friend too.

Bad events happen in life - expect them.

Don't always try and think it's a spiritual thing - you can end up with some crazy thoughts trying to work it out.

One of the fruits of the spirit is perseverance. Jesus told us to be persistent in our prayers.

God Bless

I don't think God answers prayers by saying "well, I could heal this person, but someone already sent a prayer asking that the person die so they beat you to it--sorry." You say that bad things are happening to these people. Well, often bad things happen to sick people even when we pray for them. That is just a given.

Bless you...we have power over the enemy.. no power over man. Greater is HE that is in you than he thats in the world. Jesus gave you ALL power over the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Now that being said.. he can be praying wrong.

For ME this is why if I ask for prayer.. I say exactly what I need.. I give the verses to back it up... anything major.. then only people I know .. that know how to pray by faith. This is one reason Jesus would kick people out.. doubt. My moms husband.. sick yet some right there praying he would die.. better off some said :)

So my guess is he is just praying wrong or...or.. since the people are being prayed for the enemy does not like it and is fighting back... but rejoice.. GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU! Than he thats in the world.. enemy has to FLEE in JESUS name.. pray the word..KNOW your Father HEARS YOU! He always hears you

I don't know where to post about spiritual warfare issues. I don't want to be superstitious (although it's embedded in my culture) but I've heard about people who pray against you.

For a long time, I've seen a pattern with a Christian brother (purely friendship with no prospect of anything more) where he asks for the actual first names of people when I ask him to pray for that person using generic terms like "my friend," "my sister," etc. And bad things keep happening with the people I gave him names to, as if they are under a curse or something.

Could he be praying against me, or is this the enemy's trick to make me think he's praying against me?

The only thing I can think of off hand, would be a pastor I knew whose son was drifting away from G-d. The pastor prayed that G-d would do whatever it takes to bring his son back to the Lord. The son was driving around with some pagan girls, and lost control of the car, and hit a tree. The girls were hurt pretty bad, but the son escaped with minor injuries.

The key of course, the son turned away from his bad path, and started following the Lord again.

So depending on the prayer, maybe the purpose was to bring people back to the Lord?

Other than that, G-d does not answer prayers "go harm your followers". So if someone is praying that G-d will be evil, that prayer will not be answered.

This has nothing to do with God ... as He disallows it among His people ...

God finds it an abomination but it does ::edit doesnt:: stop Christian witches to stop practicing.

OP

please listen carefully.

People should not be praying against you. And you should not pray against them. This is not Godly behavior. God will condemn those who do this, and He will not honor their prayers.

What did Christ say on the Cross? "Father forgive them, they know not what they do."

Let Jesus' words be your guide.

The idea of praying 'against' other people does not come from the Bible at all. It comes from Harry Potter movies, and that is pure witchcraft. That type of spiritual warfare is deeply misguided, and it is not Christian.

Please put such thoughts far from your heart and mind. Read the Bible every day, ask God for protection, and move forwards. Best wishes and blessings to you!!

Blessings!

I have wondered the same since spiritual warfare is my calling.

I've learned some things about it from my wife. It really is a calling that is for sure! Our words combined with our intentions really do have power.

I believe in imprecatory prayer. However, the intention of such prayers should always be to destroy the works of evil, to loose the demonic bonds that bind people, and that our enemies might be brought to a place of repentance, or at least peace with us. Imprecatory prayers are seen throughout Scripture and the Psalms. Imprecatory prayer should never be in response to some "personal" slight, but rather in response to discernment and the leading of the Spirit. Imprecatory prayers can also be justified when praying against tyrants, atrocities, oppression, and violent persecution.

If one's intention in imprecatory prayer is merely to see an "enemy" suffer or be destroyed for the sake of personal vindication or revenge, such a prayer is not of God.

Here is an example of imprecatory prayer as found in the NT:

Acts 13:7-12 English Standard Version (ESV)
7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Notice, this direction of the Holy Spirit came to one "filled with the Spirit", and his prayer of declaration was imprecatory. This was to overcome an enemy of God, not one of Paul's personal enemies. And it was to thwart the plans of Satan that were being worked in this man. Notice that the effects of this curse was to only last "for a time". This is to give space to the individual to repent upon experiencing God's goodness, if they don't repent after feeling God's power. Lastly, it was a sign and wonder that ultimately led to the salvation of the proconsul.

So you are saying that if this person is praying against me, God's honoring his prayer??

Anyone else care to comment on this?

No, God is stronger than anything that attacks us. But He allows certain events to shape us into kinder, stronger people. And Jesus is always praying for us(John 17:9).

Some verses:

1 John 4:4
"Ye are of God, little children (new converts to Christ), and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

John 17:8-11
" 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. 9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. 10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. 11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."

God doesn't honor those who want people to lose faith. They may have money and power, but that's only temporary.

Those who belong to Christ will be blessed. It's the eternal outcome that matters.

When we pray, we pray with His will in mind. We desire what He desires for us.
