Appearing Wednesday evening on MSNBC, former Attorney General Eric Holder told Ari Melber he believes the notion of American “greatness” never “really existed.”

With that said, much of what politicians use rhetoric about, are actually myths. Nothing new there.

I think there were aspects that it truly was great in. But that shifted all the time. I don't think that is too different from a lot of country.

Or perhaps during the time when we buried nearly 400,000 Union soldiers who died fighting a war that expunged slavery from the nation?

The end of the Civil War did not usher in equality by any stretch of the imagination. Government sanctioned segregation was long-standing. I attend a segregated elementary school.
