Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put out a scathing video mocking Democratic senators for voting “present” on the Green New Deal late Tuesday, despite touting the importance of the proposal for weeks.

McConnell, R-Ky., held a vote on the Green New Deal Tuesday, forcing Democrats to go on the record with their support, or opposition, to the non-binding resolution.

The Senate failed to reach the 60 votes necessary to begin debate on the proposal, with 42 Democrats and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., voting “present.” Democrats held back in protest of McConnell's decision to bring the measure to the floor, which they regarded as a stunt.

But Republicans are already mocking Democrats for doing so. The McConnell video includes ample footage of Democratic senators praising the proposal, which Republicans like McConnell have called a “radical, top-down, socialist makeover of the entire U.S. economy.”

I support it, but over 30 years instead of 10 years.

My question is, how are we going to pay for it, plus Medicare for all, and free college for everyone?

Stunt fails. McConnell still complains...

The real stunt was in putting forth the proposal in the first place. Then when it's put up for an actual vote, those who said they supported it now vote "present", and the resolution failed due to the votes of the resolution's own backers. If they truly thought it was such a great idea, why not at least go on record as a "YES" vote?

Because the likes of Sanders, Warren, AOC, Omar, and the rest know there is no way to pay for the Green New Deal, plus Medicare for all, plus Free college tuition for all, and pay slave reparations.

For those running for the Presidency, if they vote for it, then that will be asked how to pay all of it, and since we can't...There true colors have shown through, and they just keep quiet.

10% less military expenses would do the trick twice over.

Ah, don't worry about it....AOC's 70% tax should cover the bill. If her dream ever passes prepare yourself for a much thinner wallet.

And that kiddies, will be marked as one of the major milestones in the downfall of the US empire. The leader of the senate releasing a video the sole purpose of which is to denigrate the opposition. No wonder Putin always looks like he is smiling.

Not living in the USA, mate. We already got most of those things.. well, except the slave reparations.

As a tradeoff, our army is a bad joke.

Pointless whataboutism aside, have they? Do you have any footage of video from a democratic leader of either senate or congress the sole purpose of which is to mock the other side?

Yeah, didn't think so.

WASHINGTON — Less than 24 hours after their surprising victory in the race for a vacant House seat in New York, Democrats forced Senate Republicans on Wednesday to vote yes or no on a bill that would reshape Medicare, signaling their intent to use the issue as a blunt instrument against Republicans through the 2012 election.

Democrats staged the vote to press their advantage coming out of their victory Tuesday in the contest, fought in large part over Medicare, for a House seat in upstate New York that had long been in Republican hands. Sen. Harry Reid, the majority leader, brought the legislation to the floor so that Senate Republicans would either have to vote for it, exposing them to attacks from Democrats and their allies, or against it, exploiting growing Republican divisions on the issue.

Total Cost of Green New Deal - $93 Trillion over 10 years.
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?
Current DOD budget - $1.3 Trillion
Budget 2019

Lets look at the math:
10% of DOD budget = $130 Bn
$130 Bn X 10 Years = $1.3 Tn
$93 Tn - $1.3 Tn = $91.7 Tn

Yeah, I think the math works.

So now the Senate Republicans are wasting time trolling the Dems. Way to go. Now convince me again that you are the serious party, the get down to business party. The ones who are mature, focused, and have the answers to our problems. Prove it!
My Republican senator comes up for election in 2020, if I don't see some good coming from the Republican run Senate, I won't be voting for him again in 2020.
