Yes, but how do any of us "know" that when we read the Bible in order to find out what 'God's Will' is that we have indeed understood it the way He intended for us to understand it?

This is written in God's Word.

So, the Bible tells us that when we read it we indeed understand it---as in like we automatically understand it???

I'm asking because......well........this is the Christian Philosophy section rather than the General Theology section.

God's Holy Spirit teaches us, and the wisdom and discernment that God grants us enables us to understand what is in His Word. Like it is written in Jeremiah 33:3, for instance.

Does God grant us this wisdom and discernment apart from the rest of the body of Christ or just when we are on our own, all alone while reading our Bibles?

Hey folks... I go to Hillsong. Just be careful what you are saying and doing especially on the big picture.
Matthew 7:1-6
Figure out why verse 6 is there.

Hello SinoBen! I understand your concern. The verse you quoted is about judging others. This thread is about exposing false doctrines and false prophets which Jesus commanded us to do. I guess maybe just a difference of opinion. God Bless sister!

It's a God and us thing, alone with Him, delighting in and joying in His presence.

This comes to mind:

"the joy of the Lord is your strength." ~Nehemiah 8:10

So are you saying your church will not take your concerns seriously? Having an issue and bringing it to the pastors is perfectly normal. State your case, back it up with some solid scripture that applies to the situation and ask questions. You might be surprised in what you learn and what you can teach them. If at the end you state your concerns and you are not allowed to share them, you may want to consider a different church, if not and you are welcome to share your concerns with others, keep attending. No one says you have to sing songs you dont agree with nor go to teachings that you agree with either. You're free! :)

I know for sure my church wont take advice seriously. I told the library staff that one of their books had occult symbols and they said...well all the campuses have it.

I agree with you Roman...something fishy is going on there....even with their Easter service alone.

Sozo comes from a Greek verb for "heal", there is no occult reference there.

Research and you will find my answer. Please dont jump to conclusions with out proper research. Miss information is not helpful.

Are you saying it is not possible for good wholesome words to also be used by occult practitioners? Great example Mass.

I actually studied Koine Greek years ago to read the New Testament. Sozo is a Greek word, the verb "save", soter means "savior" in Greek, it comes from the same root.

We do not determine anything. It is GOD Who determines all things. It is found in His Word.

HE is the final and only authority in ALL things.

How do you gauge His message against our understanding...ie there are tons of ministries with feelings that they are the absolute end all be all of understanding God's Word. We wouldnt have Christian forum's debate and discussion threads if we all agreed.

Ok is that the only meaning used by all practitioners of faiths, beliefs and practices?

In the Christian context, generally yes. I am sure no occult meanings were intended.

This thread is more than just about christian context.

Essentially we are putting a fire to our beliefs and understanding of the Christianese culture of Jesus Culture, Hillsong etc. We are left with what they could potentially be really about.

He may grant us but what if we are not dialed in?

Hi Natsumi, good question. But being that your question comes in line after the things I was discussing and inquiring about with brinny, you may have to help me understand what you mean in your question.

Stop spreading conspiracy theories about people just because you don't like their ministry. I don't really care for it either but bearing false witness is not OK.
