Not really. I only added Gods WORD as shown in post # 319 linked that does not agree with what you posted earlier. I understand why you did not wish to post the scriptures and only part quote what was posted to you above.
No you only ignore the Scripture I post among other things.

You do not have to. Please tell me how you addressed it? You did not address it you just repeated yourself without addressing the post and all the scriptures in it that disagree with you. CIRCOMCISION is not a requirement for slavation the same as CIRCUMCION is not one of Gods' 10 commandments.

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Absolutely nothing about Christians being Israel.
And

And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. - John 10:16

And to this I will once again post my answer to my brother when he asked me a series of doctrinal questions on various topics including this one.

quote
2) Why do we not keep the Sabbath day holy?
Quote

There’s actually several issues involved in this question that I will break it down into a number of different answers based on various points.

1A) Because this was not a formal requirement given to the Gentiles that received the Gospel in the “Jerusalem Counsel” recorded in the book of Acts 15:

19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”

Commentary: if you notice the Gentiles were going “to church” so to speak where they heard such things preached “on the Sabbath”, but this is not laid out as a formal requirement made by the Jerusalem counsel in the book of Acts (which was presumably speaking by the Holy Spirit).

1B) If the previous point is insufficient, I would also add other verses of saint Paul where he speaks of the necessity of keeping Jewish Holy Days such as: Colossians 2:16, Galatians 4:9-10.

1C) Besides all that there is the “Judaizer” conflict that is all over the New Testament and early Christian history. All the verses where Paul is speaking against people “using works” are essentially referencing people who rejected the Jerusalem Counsel of the books of Acts and were requiring believers to be circumcised, go Kosher, etc. including all the Sabbath keeping stuff.

2) My second answer is that Christians DO KEEP THE SABBATH IF THEY FOLLOW THE LITURGICAL TRADITION OF EARLY CHRISTIANITY. This is the exact reason we have a “weekend”, instead of just having the Jewish Sabbath off, we get the Jewish Sabbath and “The Lord’s Day” (The Day that Christ rose from the dead) off. So, this is actually better than just having one day off, we as Christians get 2 days off. The problem however is that people have taken these days purely for themselves thus they don’t get the spiritual benefit from them.
Your last point is something few in America understand. When the early settlers landed in America, they observed the "Sabbath" as a day of 'rest'; then, they gathered for their day of worship (Sunday), because of NT references to gather on the first day of the week. Very good point!

Friend I think you misunderstood my answer... I was not referring to Sabbath keeping but rather to entering the Sabbath Rest which is a different matter. Those who didn't enter the Sabbath Rest were hindered by the sin of unbelief...

Blessings,

Carl Emerson.
I have been reading down through these comments and have found both good, and bad. I think you understand this quite well. Hebrews 4 takes us back to Numbers 14 when God would not allow the Israelites to enter into the promise land (His rest), because of unbelief. Simply put, they refused to believe they were safe in God! They would not 'rest' in faith!

It is the same thing that we see in Matthew 25 with the ten virgins. So many people think this parable is about salvation ... but it isn't. It's about this very subject! The five wise virgins believed the groom was coming, and desired to put everything on the line to be ready for him. The others believed he would come, (as many believers do even today); but have never learned to really trust Christ by resting in Him.

None of the virgins lost their "salvation", but only the wise entered into the grooms chamber to be intimate with him. If you go back to Numbers 14 you see this:

14:6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:14:7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.14:8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.14:9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. Numbers

This is the event referred to in Hebrews 4. But it has nothing to do with the weekly Sabbath, it was about getting the type of heart that Joshua had ... a heart that was resting in hiscGod!

WHAT IS GOD'S REST IN HEBREWS 4 WE ARE TO ENTER INTO?

Letting the scriptures interpret the scriptures. We read in God's 4th commandment of the 10..

EXODUS 20:10 [10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God;

This is a direct reference from God's Word defining what the Sabbath is; The SABBATH IS THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK which is a direct reference back to the creation week from when it was made as shown in v11.

EXODUS 20:11 [11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and RESTED THE SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and MADE IT HOLY.

NOTE: It is the SEVENTH DAY (SABBATH) that God RESTED so the SABBATH defined as the SEVENTH DAY of the WEEK is GOD'S REST. NOTE EXODUS 20:11 is a direct reference back to GENESIS 2:1-3 which is a direct reference back to GENESIS 2:3 descibing the reason for GOD's 4th Commandment SEVENTH DAY SABBATH is that GOD BLESSED THE SABBATH (defined as the SEVENTH DAY in v10) and made it a HOLY DAY.

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
[2], And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and HE RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; KEEP SABBATH] on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. [3], And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND MADE IT HOLY: BECAUSE THAT IN IT HE HAD RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] from all his work which God created and made.

NOTE: The reason for the Sabbath Commandment is to REMEMBER the God of creation. HE RESTED IS GOD'S REST (verb) which God's WORD says is the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK WHICH IS CALLED SABBATH (noun), BLESSED the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK and made it a HOLY DAY that no work is to be done. v11 Refers back to Genesis 2:1-3 and the origin of the Sabbath which is the SEVENTH DAY. v8 shows that this commandment is a MEMORIAL of creation v11 [the reason for the 4th commandment]. It is very clear as we look through the scriptures and let the scriptures interpret themselves that GOD MADE THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH FOR MANKIND. It is also one of the 10 Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of SIN when broken.

MARK 2:27-28 [27], And he said unto them, THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN, and not man for the sabbath:[28], so that the Son of man is LORD OF THE SABBATH (creator).

The GREEK word highlighted here for MAN in MARK 2:27 is ἄνθρωπος; anthrōpos (G444) which means HUMAN BEING or mankind.

CONCLUSION: The SABBATH as defined in God's Word as *EXODUS 20:10 is the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK because God BLESSED the SEVENTH DAY and made it a HOLY DAY in EXODUS 20:11 repeating GENESIS 2:1-3. The Hebrew word for REST 7673 שָׁבַת shâbath, is the verb used for KEEPING THE SABBATH by RESTING. The person doing the RESTING was GOD the creator of heaven and earth. God's WORD also defines GOD'S REST therefore as the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH that God created for all mankind. While the Hebrew word for SABBATH 7676 שַׁבָּת shabbâth, is the noun or the name of what is being kept which is the SEVENTH DAY that God RESTED on and BLESSED and made HOLY. The reason the SABBATH was made was for mankind to REST, CELEBRATE and REMEMBER GOD'S CREATION *EXODUS 20:8 and the GOD as the CREATOR and LORD of the SABBATH *MARK 2:27-28.

.............

LINKING EXODUS 20:8-11 and GENESIS 2:1-3 TO HEBREWS 4 AND GOD'S REST THROUGH THE GOSPEL.

The CONTEXT that you ignore here is HEBREWS 4:1-5 which is discussing GOD'S REST the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH with reference back to GENENSIS 2:1-3. That is the REST we are to enter into. Those that did not enter into GOD'S REST (SEVENTH DAY SABBATH) did not enter into God's REST because of SIN and UNBELIEF in the gosple of God's WORD.

HEBREWS 4:1-11
[1], Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into HIS REST, any of you should seem to come short of it.
[2], For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
[3], For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into MY REST: ALTHOUGH THE WORKS WERE FINISHED FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.
[4], FOR HE SPOKE IN A CERTAIN PLACE (GENSIS 2:1-3) OF THE SEVENTH DAY ON THIS WISE, AND GOD DID REST THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS.
[5], And in this place again, If they shall enter into MY REST.

NOTE
: CONTEXT is God's REST from the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST OF CREATION (v4-5) and those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW GOD's WORD enter into God's SABBATH REST as GOD did on the SEVENTH DAY of the week. CONTEXT is GOD's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST and those who BELIEVE AND FOLLOW GOD'S WORD enter into that rest which God's WORD defines as the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH which is GOD'S REST! Let's continue...

6], Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
[7], Again, he limits a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
[8], For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
[9], SO THEN IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH.

Now notice Hebrews 4, verse 9: “There remains therefore a SABBATH rest to the people of God.” In verses 1, 3, 4 and 8, the Greek word for “rest” is katapausin. It means “rest.” But in verse 9, the Greek word for “rest” is sabbatismos, which is a Hebrew word—Sabbat, which means “the Sabbath”—combined with a Greek suffix—ismos, which means “a keeping of” or “a doing of.” Put together, sabbatismo means “a keeping of the Sabbath.” When correctly translated, Hebrews 4:9 should read, “There remains therefore a keeping of the Sabbath to the people of God.”

[10], For he that is entered into HIS REST (v9 God's SABBATH REST), he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
[11], LET US LABOR THEREFORE TO ENTER INTO THAT REST (God's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST), lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief (HEBREWS 3).

.............

CONCLUSION
: HEBREWS 4 is talking about the Gospel rest of BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD; v29 Learn of me; v30 my burden (doing) is light. This agrees with Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. HEBREWS 4:1-11 is in reference to GOD'S REST which God's WORD defines is the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH which is the CONTEXT shown in HEBREWS 4:1-5. HEBREWS 4 therefore with context added is saying that no one enter God's Sabbath rest if they do not BELIEVE AND FOLLOW God's WORD.

Easy one brother. Who is the "them" in verse 17 and who were broken off? These scriptures only support what is being shared with you and that is that ISRAEL are all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. Gentiles are now grafted in among BELIEVING ISRAEL.

Hope this helps

WHAT IS GOD'S REST IN HEBREWS 4 WE ARE TO ENTER INTO?

Letting the scriptures interpret the scriptures. We read in God's 4th commandment of the 10..

EXODUS 20:10 [10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God;

This is a direct reference from God's Word defining what the Sabbath is; The SABBATH = the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK which is a direct reference back to the creation week from when it was made as shown in v11.

1) Does observing, or keeping the Sabbath (which ever word you choose get us "eternal life"?

2) Does NOT observing, or keeping the Sabbath cause us to be damned to Hell?

Hello brother Jack nice to meet you.

We are saved ONLY by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

According to God's WORD in the NEW COVENANT God's ETERNAL LAW (10 commandments) gives us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNES *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. God's 4th commandment is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:20.

According to God's WORD if we break any one of God's 10 Commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN *JAMES 2:10-11. According to God's WORD all those who KNOWINGLY CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

You can also ask yourself this question and get the same answer as those shown through the scriptures above. Is somone is a saved state before GOD or an UNSAVED state before GOD while continuing in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN? The answer to this question is very clear from God's WORD * HEBREWS 10:26-27; HEBREWS 6:4-8; JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 3:3-10; REVELATION 14:12; REVELATION 22:14; ROMANS 3:31; ROMANS 13:8-10; 1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10; GALATIANS 5:19-21; EPHESIANS 5:6; COLOSSIANS 3:6; REVELATION 21:7-8; TITUS 2:11-12. No one is saved while continuing in known unreptant sin, neither do they know God *1 JOHN 2:3-4.

We follow God not because we are saved by doing so but because we are already saved by God's dear son through his own blood that he shed for our sins and for all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW him. We follow JESUS because God has changed our hearts to LOVE him and not because of anything we have done. *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10; JOHN 14:15.

God bless

I have read quite a few of your comments. Here is the problem, what I see is that you are saying you are (or were ... in the past) saved by grace, but then I also hear you say that if a person doesn't observe the fourth commandment, it is essentially either 1) a sign that that person didn't actually get saved; or 2) is an action of unbelief that causes the person to be then rejected from salvation.

So what I am trying to clarify is rather simple ... If I get saved on Sunday morning at a church meeting, and don't observe the Sabbath the following Saturday; is that 1) evidence that I'm not really saved; or 2) does it mean that I had salvation up until Friday, but lost it Saturday due to my rebellion.

Jack, what your posting here is not what I believe or have said anywhere here in this forum and is the opposite of what I have posted in the previous post to you.

There is a difference between known sin (the sins God has revealed to us) and unknown sin (the sins we do not know as yet are sins in God's eyes). As we become christians we continue learning God's WORD and growing in God's GRACE to have a closer walk with JESUS *2 PETER 1:2-8; 2:20; 3:18. God's WORD teaches (and I believe) that God's people are in every Church. These are those who are living up to all the truth in God's WORD that God has revealed to them because it is written; in times of IGNORANCE God does not hold us accountable to sin *ACTS 17:30-31; JAMES 4:17 until we RECEIVE a KNOWLEDGE of the truth as we CONTINUE in his WORD *JOHN 8:31. Once a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come God calls all men everywhere to REPENT and BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *ACTS 17:30.

If we reject God's WORD then we are no longer BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God because we are still in our sins because now we know about them. ALL those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN which God's WORD defines as breaking any one of God's 10 Commandments *JAMES 2:10-11 will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

God's people are in every Church *JOHN 10:15. God's is calling all his people where ever they may be to COME OUT of following the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God to worship GOD in SPIRIT and in truth. *JOHN 4:23-24

In times of IGNORANCE God winks at but when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come calls all men everywhere to repent and BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *ACTS 17:30-31.

Hope this clears up any misunderstandings.

God bless.

1) It sounds to me like you are saying that a person must live in accordance with the law (the 10 Commandments) to be saved. I just want a simple Yes, or No from you to know if that is what you are saying.
2) It also sounds like you are saying that the fourth Commandment is special above the other 9. Do you observe all 10 of God's Commandments to be, or even stay saved? Either you do, or you don't ... I'm just asking for clarification with a Yes, or No.

God's 4th commandment is only one of God's 10 commandments *EXODUS 20:1-17 that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS in the NEW COVANANT *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. "This is God's work in all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD through love"

The problem I have is that Jesus said:

3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John

Jesus didn't say we have eternal life if we "BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD through love". Notice verse 18:

"but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God"

Why did Jesus only mention "belief"? God told the Israelites the same thing in Numbers 14.

14:11 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? Numbers

I know belief brings obedience. but I see you posting Scriptures that appear to be saying that it isn't just about belief for salvation, it is about not sinning any more. If that is the case, the Apostle Paul must be in Hell, for 1) he admitted in Roman's 7 that he wrestled with sin; and 2) told Timothy he was the "chief" of sinners.

Actually God's WORD does say that it is only those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD that are saved *1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 3:3-10; MATTHEW 7:22-23. Did you read any of the scriptures posted to you in the previous posts? Now if God's WORD tells us to do something and we do not do what God's WORD asks us to do are we BELIEVING God's WORD or not BELIEVING God's WORD?

OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *PHILIPPIANS 2:13; ROMANS 13:8-10. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

God bless.
