Yes we should, one time I was preaching to a lady and attempting to gain a convert, and when I spoke, "God can do no evil and Satan can do no good" the Holy Spirit filled me with this unearthly peace and love, and God spoke to me and confirmed that it was truth. That was a huge faith building experience HTH
You cannot brainwash yourself into being saved. It is by grace alone. What is the difference between brain washing to accept the Bible and have your mind transformed by the renewing of the mind? Romans 12:2

All the promises are there for us to receive. 2 Corinthians 1:20 When we wash our minds of doubt and unbelief and let the word refresh us, the promise is there for us.

Your position turns the gospel into law and grace into works. Instead, God saves those who cannot believe in Christ, turning them into believers. So are you coming from the idea that we don't have free will to choose salvation in Christ? God has provided salvation to all. John 3:16 God is not waiting for some other time for us to be saved, but today is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2 God provided salvation and it is up to us to receive it. John 1:12 God asks us to believe. That is the work that is required of us. John 6:29
