Yes, but it is not solely on the government to provide. The people elect the government because it is needed for order, but it is not meant to provide everything people need. What if it's a government of the people?
The USA has its moral priorities completely backwards when owning a gun is a constitutional right, but having adequate healthcare and a college education are considered privileges.
yup you have the right to expect to be paid for your labor ( unless either A you are under sentence OR B you agree to other terms. This is where volunteering comes in if I agree to do something free of charge or in exchange for something other than legal tender so be I, but you should not expect people to do so.I think that's because one is a good used for self defense and the other two are services provided by the labor of other people. You don't have a right to the labor of another person. Everyone owns themselves.
The government is the people in a democracy. If individuals helped the poor, we wouldn’t have to pass laws to do so. Before the new deal, old people and children were living on the streets. There is a difference in PEOPLE helping the poor and the GOVERNMENT helping the poor.
Who gets to say what the government is meant for?Yes, but it is not solely on the government to provide. The people elect the government because it is needed for order, but it is not meant to provide everything people need.
but that does not mean that the government should provide EVERYTHING, nor that people should not help. In fact, sometimes I have to still wonder whether it would be better to NOT have so many government programs because sometimes people ( just general here) take the position that the government helps so why should I?The government is the people in a democracy. Good point which leads me to ask in general... How many Christians have stolen images or used copyrighted material on-line without permission or paying the copyright holder? There is evidence of that in this thread alone. That would also apply to anyone quoting scripture in any copyrighted version. So if we can self justify these things how can we then turn around and decide what is good or bad for others, voting in this case?yup you have the right to expect to be paid for your labor
One example would be non-citizen foreign nationals residing in the United States. Unless you mean something slightly different, they are very much subject to all American law. They should not, however, be given the right to vote.I don't know. I think that depends on what you mean by reasonable limits.
I meant in the context of American citizenship, which is what this thread is about. And I agree that people here on visas shouldn't have the franchise, but I'm not as sure about permanent residents. One example would be non-citizen foreign nationals residing in the United States. How does one go about setting up a royal family from scratch?Which is why I would support a monarchical form of government.
I think that would be a splendid opportunity to revive the honored american tradition known as "king of the ring".How does one go about setting up a royal family from scratch?
