Cenk Uygur, the founder of "The Young Turks," reacts to Michael Cohen's revelation that President Trump ordered him to threaten his high school and colleges never to reveal his grades or SAT scores by daring the president to prove he is a "very stable genius."

"If you have better grades than me, I’ll give you a million dollars," Cenk Uygur said. "If I have better grades than you, you give me a million dollars. If you release [your high school and college transcripts, along with your SAT scores], and you agree to this deal, we definitely have a bet."

"Do I have $1 million?" Uygur said. "No. You’ll bankrupt me and take everything I have … Go for it. Donald Trump, you know how ecstatic MAGA nation would be if you bankrupted me?"

"You're supposed to be really high IQ, one of the things you are known for is being 'mentally stable.' And my grades were good, they weren't great, but the chance of Donald Trump having better grades than anyone, let alone me, hover around zero percent," he quipped.

Bad idea. Remember when Trump promised to pay Elizabeth Warren a million dollars if she could show she had an Indian ancestor? She did. And he refused to pay. Never make bets with guys like that.

Actually, he demanded that Obama turn over his college transcripts as well.

In 2011, days after Donald Trump challenged President Barack Obama to "show his records" to prove that he hadn't been a "terrible student," the headmaster at New York Military Academy got an order from his boss: Find Trump's academic records and help bury them.

The superintendent of the private school "came to me in a panic because he had been accosted by prominent, wealthy alumni of the school who were Mr. Trump's friends" and who wanted to keep his records secret, recalled Evan Jones, the headmaster at the time. "He said, 'You need to go grab that record and deliver it to me because I need to deliver it to them.' "

The superintendent, Jeffrey Coverdale, confirmed Monday that members of the school's board of trustees initially wanted him to hand over President Trump's records to them, but Coverdale said he refused.

"I was given directives, part of which I could follow but part of which I could not, and that was handing them over to the trustees," he said. "I moved them elsewhere on campus, where they could not be released. It's the only time I ever moved an alumnus's records."
How Trump's high school transcript was hidden after he demanded Obama's academic records

As President Barack Obama was running for re-election in 2012, Donald Trump called him a “terrible student” and demanded that he release his academic records to the public. But when Trump launched his own presidential bid a few years later, his longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen sent letters to his alma maters, threatening to take legal action if any of Trump’s own academic records were ever made public.

That revelation was part of Cohen’s testimony to Congress on Wednesday, in which he also called Trump “a racist,” “a con man,” and “a cheat.”

“When I say con man, I’m talking about a man who declares himself brilliant but directed me to threaten his high school, his colleges, and the College Board to never release his grades or SAT scores,” Cohen said Wednesday. “The irony wasn’t lost on me at the time that Mr. Trump in 2011 had strongly criticized President Obama for not releasing his grades.”

Though it was not as frequent as his repeated questions about Obama’s birth certificate, Trump’s questions about Obama’s college transcripts were a long-running obsession of his before he formally entered politics.

Student records are protected by the 1974 Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and Obama did not elect to release his college transcripts and applications. But he did graduate magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

To the point of your thread, what difference does it make who has better standardized test scores? Talent and success in life does not depend on academics... many billionaire successful people dropped out of highschool or college. Free thinkers typically don't do as well in the curriculum based education system we have in western countries.

Just pointing up what a hypocritical sleaze Trump is. He demanded Obama turn over his academic records, but he sent his lawyer to threaten the schools he attended, if they released anything.

Talent and success in life does not depend on academics...

Then it was a very bad idea for him to make that demand of Obama, wasn't it? Put himself on the spot, now.
