I've seen cars covered in pollen from trees, it blows off the tree in the wind and then blankets your car. I think that is probably what happened.

In my part of Texas, it can get so thick that there's almost no point in washing your car; you just clean the windows enough each morning so you can see and pray they stay that way until you get back home.
