People wore the Klan hood, and committed acts of terrorism and murder while wearing the hood. I don't know of any crimes committed by people wearing MSGA hats; do you?

MAGA Hat Symbolism Explained — Response to Tennesseean Writer Who Believes MAGA Hats Aren't Symbol of Hate

Those guys who waved Tiki torches and murdered Heather Hayer at Charlottesville? The Unite the Right organizer encouraged them to “Bring your MAGA hats if you’ve got ’em.” The result was a slew of people chanting Nazi slogans while wearing Make America Great Again hats.

Would-be terrorist Caser Sayoc who sent homemade pipe bombs to those who he perceived to be Trump’s political enemies, is pictured countless times proudly wearing his MAGA hat.

Nikolas Cruz, the Parkland Shooter, boasted a MAGA hat avatar on his Instagram, and was seen around the school wearing one.

David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK, celebrated Trump’s victory with a picture of Trump wearing his MAGA hat. In that tweet he claimed “our people have played a HUGE role in electing Trump #Maga.”

Alexandre Bissonnette, who killed six and wounded 19 at a Mosque in Quebec, is pictured proudly wearing a MAGA hat on social media.

In a particularly bizarre case, the cannibal killer Austin Harrouf was supposedly wearing a MAGA hat while he attempted to eat one of his victims’ faces.

Willie Ames, who threw a Mexican man onto the subway tracks after shouting, “F---ing Mexicans. You people are dirty. You people are nasty” was, you guessed it, wearing a MAGA hat at the time.

I never said I hate America, or dont think it is great.
Well if you think it's great then what do you think the hats mean? What is it that's not great about America according to the wearers of that hat? The one thing that has always been worse is the racism. It's clearly the meaning of MAGA to want to go back to a time that's more racist and oppressive to minorities of all types.

Most of the links you provided are about people seen wearing MAGA hats who later on eventually committed crimes. Though I am sure there are some instances when crimes are committed wearing the hat, it’s not the same as the Klan hood that was used to hide the identity of those who wanted to commit crimes. I think the ANTIFA face cover is closer to the Klan than the MAGA hats are.
As you can see from the Charlottesville video, they weren’t wearing MAGA hats.

Well if you think it's great then what do you think the hats mean?
As I said before, it means a different time period to different people.
What is it that's not great about America according to the wearers of that hat?
When Obama said “hope and change” did that mean those who supported him hated America? Every campaign slogan is about improvement; that’s how you get people to vote for you.
The one thing that has always been worse is the racism.
I don’t know; the Black Lives Matter movement got really big under Obama; it seemed nearly every month Cities like Baltimore, Oakland, Ferguson etc. were being burned down from riots every time a white cop killed a black man. We haven’t seem to have had any of those type of riots for a while now.

Wrong. As you can see from these Charlottesville pictures they were wearing MAGA hats (check out Mr. Nazi Armband especially)

As I said before, it means a different time period to different people.
That's right - a different time period in the past when things were more racist. Some want to go back to the 80's, some to the 50's, some to the 1800's - any time in the past which is far more racist. That's why it's clearly a racist slogan (not to mention anti-American).

When Obama said “hope and change” did that mean those who supported him hated America? Every campaign slogan is about improvement; that’s how you get people to vote for you.
Hope and change does not assert that things are bad, but rather that things can be better. For example, I live in NJ but there is hope that I can change my residence to somewhere warmer. I love where I live, but I would love somewhere warmer even more. But if I said I wanted to make where I live great again that means that where I live is not great anymore. It's asserting a negative.

People who wear MAGA hats are saying that America is NOT GREAT. Can't get much more anti-American than that, not to mention that there is the entire racist angle behind that dumb slogan.

I don’t know; the Black Lives Matter movement got really big under Obama; it seemed nearly every month Cities like Baltimore, Oakland, Ferguson etc. were being burned down from riots every time a white cop killed a black man. We haven’t seem to have had any of those type of riots for a while now.
Thanks for admitting that racism was a bigger problem in the past as I have been saying all along. So it turns out that you DO realize that MAGA means going back to a more racist time.

Prompted by an editorial I read on Facebook and a poll I created there in response to it.

I voted "Depends on context", because my first assumption is that no, it's not; but I think context is important.

Disclaimer to the Trump supporters: No, I am not saying that merely wearing a MAGA hat is a hate crime, or that merely wearing it makes one a racist, or a hate-monger, or any such thing. In fact I'm saying the opposite--I don't make that assumption simply because someone wears a hat. I feel like this disclaimer is necessary because my words will be interpreted wrongly otherwise.

These folks seem to think they stand for something. But like any folks who happily stand out in support of their movement, the question remains... are they supporting the will of man or the will of God, the ways of man or the ways of the Kingdom? Where are the Make the Kingdom Great again hats? Ironic considering so many of the hat wearers are of the religious right. Guess their political religion isn't so right after all. Wrong loyalties. Wrong governance.

Wrong. As you can see from these Charlottesville pictures they were wearing MAGA hats (check out Mr. Nazi Armband especially)
True; there were racists wearing MAGA hats at rally. There were also racists with American flags also. If you are going to claim MAGA hats equal racism because some racists wore MAGA hats, you also need to be consistent and claim the American flag equals racism because some of the racists had American flags also.
And of course Trump specifically made the Nazis feel loved by him:
https://gizmodo.com/neo-nazis-praise-trumps-response-to-charlottesville-h-1797787685
Trump said there was good and bad on both sides; which was the truth. Yeah there were white hate groups there, but there were also Sons of the Confederacy there which is not considered a hate group. Yeah there were peaceful people protesting the Confederate flag there, but there was also ANTIFA there, a known hate group. For him to condemn one group without condemning the other (which is what they wanted him to do) would have been unfair.

That's right - a different time period in the past when things were more racist. Some want to go back to the 80's, some to the 50's, some to the 1800's - any time in the past which is far more racist. That's why it's clearly a racist slogan (not to mention anti-American).
A lot of people see the 90’s as the best time; because there was less division between political parties, the economy was better, and race relations was not as bad as 2015. There was a lot more to our past than racism; just because someone looks at the past with fond memories doesn’t mean it is based in racism. And if you are suggesting racism isn’t alive and well today, you are wrong.
Hope and change does not assert that things are bad, but rather that things can be better. For example, I live in NJ but there is hope that I can change my residence to somewhere warmer. I love where I live, but I would love somewhere warmer even more.
Obama’s hope and change slogan had nothing to do with the weather.
But if I said I wanted to make where I live great again that means that where I live is not great anymore. It's asserting a negative.
Yes! It implies things were better in the past. remember; when he created that slogan, the economy was struggling, race relations was at an all time low, and crime was at an all time high. So an argument could be made that America had seen better days than the years 2014-15
Thanks for admitting that racism was a bigger problem in the past as I have been saying all along. So it turns out that you DO realize that MAGA means going back to a more racist time.
Really? Perhaps you need to go back and read what I actually said, and address THAT if you want.

Other than being Samuel L. Jackson I'm not familiar with whatever character he's playing there. Explain plz.
Obviously, @ArmenianJohn is trying to say that blacks that wear MAGA hats are talented, smart, bold and cool.

Obviously.

I didn't read the entire thread but has anyone mentioned that Democrats have used the phrase make America great again ?
If Democrats had red hats made up with the slogan, it might germane. We're talking about MAGA hats, not an assemblage if four words.

That is Stephen from Django unchained. He was the house slave who did the bidding of his master and oppressed his fellow slaves thinking that he would curry favor with the master and thereby be given more privilege. That's the same attitude that people like Kanye West have with their MAGA hats.

Who is Kanye West oppressing, and who is he looking to curry favors from by wearing his MAGA hat?
