Hello CF Family,

So recently, I heard from my grandfather why he doesn't purchase cookies from Girl Scouts that often. He enjoys the cookies, yes, but he doesn't buy from them very often because of the fact that some of their money goes to Planned Parenthood. Being a Pro-Lifer myself, I was saddened to hear this news, but not surprised. I just got to thinking about how many little girls and young women may be being indoctrinated with Pro-Choice values and yeah... it just made me feel pretty bad... but that all changed when I went online one day.

I was on Facebook the other day looking at some Pro-Life pages when I saw someone had shared an article about Girl Scouts supporting Planned Parenthood. Curiously, I clicked on the comments to expand them and read some of them, just to see what others had to say, and I discovered something wonderful! Apparently, this one mom said that she doesn't support the Girl Scouts and, instead, has her daughter enrolled in the American Heritage Girls group.

Now, my curiosity was just growing and growing by this point. I had never heard of the American Heritage Girls before, so I had to investigate further. I looked up the organization and was delightfully surprised to see that it is a great alternative to Girl Scouts! It's a lot like Girl Scouts, except that the organization upholds Christian values and it just seems really cool to me. It's for ages 5 to 18 and, according to the website, there are Troops in every state and in 15 countries around the world! Then, I just had to know if there were any Troops where I live, and actually, there are two active Troops within my vicinity!

This just seems like such a great group to be a part of, and I wish that I had known about this organization sooner. Anyways, if you'd like to check the program out for yourself, here's a link to the American Heritage Girls website. Maybe you can see if they have a Troop in your area?

We are involved with Girl Scouts. Only areas where it connects with WAGGS intersects with planned parenthood. So monetary entanglement can be avoided. You need to look by council. So it can be avoided. We run a very Christian troop, earning the religious emblems and such. Doing the Scout Mass.

Another alternative is Frontier Girls. It's not specifically Christian but groups are on their own so you can do it with a Christian focus.

For Catholics there's also the Little Flowers for young girls. Blue Knights for young boys.

And the Troops of St. George for boys.

There are a bunch of alternatives out there for girls and boys. It just takes some time and study for parents to decide what's the best.

Funny you should bring those groups up. I actually just found those ones too!

Also, there's another group called the Little Women Hospitality Club. I like the things that the group teaches and it honestly sounds like something that I would have loved to be a part of. I still think there's much that I could learn from the handbooks, so I'm thinking about getting the guidebooks for myself. My only problem is choosing between the ones for the girls and the ones for the teachers. If I'm just looking to go down this route myself, I'm not sure if I'd be missing out with just one kind of guidebook or the other.
