Radically toying the very matter of the Most Blessed Sacrament should not be a discussion at any local synod or, I would argue, even at an eucumenical synod. There are low-gluten hosts. Those who are unable to consume even the low-gluten hosts are able to receive Holy Communion through consuming the Blood alone.

I know but besides this tapioca type substance there are plenty of grains to make bread from besides wheat, some of which are ancient grains ( on another note pretty good too ). It is what it is, I'm not here complaining or whining, the church certainly isn't the only place where this is a concern to those with celiac or just low gluten tolerance for that matter.. But we do have to be careful what we take in is all.

We have people who have arrangements for a separate cup just to prevent any contamination by accident.

The low gluten hosts are processed in such a way that the amount of gluten is not dangerous even to someone with celiacs disease
