New pistol that looks scary.

Bought an Extar EP-9 pistol.

But it doesn't look like a pistol; it looks like a sub-machinegun... Because it is classified as a pistol by the manufacturer and the stock on it is actually technically not a stock but a "brace", it is legal to own without the special NFA tax stamp and paying $200.

So legally, it is a semi-automatic 9mm pistol.

I had no need for such a firearm. But the democrats in Seattle decided that any rifle that is semi-automatic should be classified as an "assault rifle" and subject to increased fees, checks, and age to be able to legally purchase.

So I decided to buy a firearm that, according to their nonsensical new regulations, is less dangerous and scary than my grandfather's 1939 .22 rifle.

Both are shown below:

Haven't had a chance to shoot the new pistol yet, but it should be a bunch of fun.

Decided to give it a custom camouflage job just to make it more militaristic and scary to the gun-grabbers...

You spent money on something you didn't need just to make heads explode?

This is the firearms thread after all.

The first rule of tyrrany is to take away the weapons from their subjects...

There's a difference between "owning a sword" (for self defense) and "living by the sword" (using a sword to force your agenda unto others). Jesus even encouraged His disciples to buy short swords. That should clear things up!

Heres a ridiculously large looking Glock with aftermarket parts on it. I mean for me it looks impractical. Especially if you have a CWC. lol. On a side note I've seen a pistol that essentially looked like a large HMG, even had a bipod and a massive scope.

My father used to own a Winchester 1899 single shot .22 rifle. After my dad passed away in 1982, she surrendered it to the police as she didn't have a firearms licence. I wonder what happened to it? Being such an antique, I hope it ended up in a museum somewhere.

It's the corvette of firearms; lot's of fun but not really practical. I enjoy shooting and so I guess that's really the only reason I needed to buy it.

My coworker just spent more than I did on a new Xbox and Red Dead Redemption 2.

I would argue that his purchase was much less practical...

The vast majority of weapons turned into police departments are destroyed, no matter their value or historical importance.

You don't need a reason to buy guns..."just because"
is good enough.

Umm, o.k.

I figured that was big part of it. I had a small arsenal back in the early 90s and didn't even fire most of them. I just liked owning them. I was just struck by the logic you seemed to suggest prompted the purchase in the OP.

That makes my gut wrench and brings a tear to my eye. Seriously. That is history gone forever. Never to be recovered or remade.

Yeppirs. That's what we do. Even though I bought all of the semi-autos I could stuff into my gun safe I then turned around and bought a series of single shot, break action 2-fers of the same calibers just to make sure that if the liverals ever actually won and got our fully automatic machines I would still have a means to shoot the calibers I needed without having to listen to them call me crazy.

That's tragic.
It used to policy that the police departments could have an auction of items that were not claimed, including guns. Now, with all of the law suits they won't even do that. (Imagine a 1906 M1 Garand used in WWII by the soldier that saved a dozen friends lives being cut up and dumped into the ocean because of some crying millennial or some .22 that a grandfather used when he was a kid and left to his son and his son..., only to have it dumped into a pile and burned. It makes my gut wrench.)
