And if your spouse separates from you? What are the rules then? Suppose you get married in good faith and, although you do have sex some, your spouse then withdraws completely and refuses any kind of counseling?

Tough it out. Many people have sacrificed much more for thier beleifs.

Cool. So if you get married when you're 19 and your spouse abandons you physically a week later, and you live to be 119, it's the will of God that you spend several decades suicidal, beating your head against the sidewalk when no one's looking, and then maybe another half century just lying and staring and waiting to die. Sounds like a good Christian life to me.

The hot topic of MB. Despite people twisting scriptures, MB is easy to answer.

When you MB are you looking or thinking of naughty things? If yes, then you're in sin. If you think of nothing then it's not a sin. One exception to this is if you make an addiction out of it. An idol so to speak. Like your MB as much as you can. Simple.

Now when it comes to the rare answer people give of "spilling seed", well technically speaking you sometimes "spill seed" during sex when your not "inside". Just as some people to prevent having a baby "spill seed" "outside". Or if they use a condom. None of this is a sin. Sometimes while sleeping men "spill seed" without knowing it (at least until you wake up). So obviously it's not a sin. I would say though if you are feeling like you need to MB all the time, I'd probably pray you find a wife so you can get over that desire.

Which for future reference is should be pointed out MB can a sin if you choose to MB over being intimate with your future wife. Unless she is ok with it. But thats for another topic.
Just a quick question... do we assume that men are the only ones that MB or just that it is more of an issue with men? I think that we may need to rethink that. It's not just men, or males.

It's certainly not done only by men.

The better question here, the more importance question, is not whether masturbation is likely a sin, but is it really a grave/mortal sin, as taught by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches? Is it really the kind of habitual sin that could doom your eternal soul to Hell, regardless of how kind and generous one may be otherwise?

I agree with your thinking... I think that, men especially, but not only, get a desire to release their sexual desire. (In men, this is caused by the build up of seminal fluid in the seminal vesicles) It is also caused by testosterone as normal function of the body.

I'm not a woman so I have no idea what increases their need for sexual release, but without it.. we would never procreate.

To ask men to go until they are married, without a release... is a huge task..

Yes, I guess some can do it... However, telling some young men that this is a sin... is a stumbling block.
It would be quickly followed by... "Forget that... if that's what I have to do when I'm a Christian".

Again, I will ask... any man.... before you were married... and maybe after... are you saying you never lusted after a woman for sex? Or thought she was desirable in that way? Thought she was attractive?

Let's really be honest here guys...

Is masturbation a sin?
Not in and of itself.

However - speaking as someone in their 70's with quite a bit of experience with masturbation in my 60 years as a Christians :) - I will say that the unrighteous thought life which almost invariably accompanies it is a sin.

In addition - it is very habit forming and almost impossible to break away from once it has taken hold.

It also leads to other things in this day of openly available inappropriate contentography.

I speak as one who knows exactly what he's talking about from long experience.

Let's really be honest here guys...

You just don't understand the male anatomy. So the reason why you get the "urge" to release is because you are not practicing chastity. Either you are fornicating or masturbating on a regular basis. So what happens is your body starts to produce more sperm once you start to release yourself. You have basically turned on your switch. Now your body craves for more since your testes are producing larger amounts of it. Now if you stop releasing yourself, it usually is fine for 3 days... Then the urges hit in. This is when you are feeling "backed up". However you are not really backed up because your excess sperm will be eliminated in your urine. For the next couple of weeks, the urges will continue to hit. After about a month of abstaining, you will start to not have urges anymore. If you continue for 3 months after a while you will not even think about it anymore. However there will be moments where the urges come back briefly for a time. But they are very short and typically if you get up and go for a walk or take a cold shower, it goes away immediately.

So basically you can turn off the switch with some self control. I have been successful at being single with no inappropriate content and no masturbation. It's not really hard. Just requires you to deny yourself. Also it requires control of your mind. Don't let your mind wander off to thinking about sex with girls and etc. or the urges will naturally come back if your mind is filthy.

Not every human chooses to touch, and not everyone is lead to.

So what would lead you to the point where you have no choice but to touch?

I used to believe that I had no choice. That was until that I understood the male anatomy and how it works. Basically when men start having sex/masturbating they turn on a switch where their body starts to produce larger amounts of sperm. This makes it very difficult to resist the physical urges and it can be so powerful. However it is usually at the peak within 3 days to 2 weeks of abstaining. Then after that your body produces less and the urges start to go away. Then it is much more tolerable.

Most men have been taught that they must touch and it takes the willpower of a Buddhist monk to achieve purity. It is a sign of the evil times.

Yup, and considering that the OP is a teen, where his hormones are at his peak, unless he has some chronic illness where he's experiencing multiple [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] throughout the day, I'm highly doubting that its some medical condition where he has to touch to get through daily tasks. More probable that there is lack of self-control.

And if he actually have a medical condition, to seek a physician, not approval.

Well I mean most people in our culture think masturbation is a harmless vice. But they don't understand is that once you go against your conscience against that, you then start masturbating to inappropriate content and justifying it, then you start fornicating and you justify that and then you start watching more degenerate inappropriate content and at this point your conscience is on life support and etc. And I believe that if you are a reborn Christian and you continue down that path, your conscience will be far more harmed than an unbeliever since this believer knows the truth on the inside.

It's the same with all other sins. It always starts off with something and justifying it as a harmless vice but it'll just grow and grow and then when it is full grown, it leads to death. I have been very far down this path unfortunately to perhaps almost to the point of no return so I know the seriousness of this. God will be far more angry at the adults who teach a 17 year old to touch rather than the 17 year old stumbling around trying to figure out what is okay and what isn't.

If there are any adults out there teaching a youngster how to touch, that's just disgusting.

Honestly, spanking the monkey is something all grown males have done; however, the difference now is that guys just gotta talk about it to anyone who will listen.

In my days, no one "taught" you about it. Shoot, I'm sure for many of us, the first time we did it we wondered WOW, what in the world just happened! It was something we discovered about our sexuality on our own......we didn't go around talking about it....we didn't announce to the world we were all doing it.....and it never came up as a topic of sinning in any church I ever went to (and I grew up a fundamental baptist). You just did it, not thinking or worrying about if it was "OK" or not, and kept your mouth shut.

Bolded what I actually said. "to" does not mean "how".

Sorry if I prickled your conscience.

You didn't "prickle" my conscience a bit. It don't bother me a bit if you or anyone else thinks it's a sin. And just because I don't think it's a sin and their ain't no fuss about them doing it, doesn't equate to me "teaching" anyone to touch.

Some folks get wrapped around and twisted all up over the stupidest stuff, and some of the reasons you folks are using to justify it being a sin are quite a stretch (no pun intended).

Teaching someone to touch is saying, "Yeah there's no problem with it. Go ahead!"

You don't care about what is right or wrong and you do not listen to Paul when he says, "I bring my body into subjection." I sure Paul would've told you that masturbating is fine... (Just kidding)
