They'll have to find a good candidate for that to happen and so far I haven't seen one that has thrown his hat in the ring yet.
Give it time. At this point in 2015, Trump was yet to even announce he was running.

I think you'll have to wait a really long time cause there doesn't seem to be anybody currently in the party who is capable.

Oh, and when did all of this become known? After it became obvious he was a threat to win wasn't it.
No, he was quite well known before his 2016 campaign. I always saw him as more of a D-list celebrity than a brilliant business mogul.

And that still isn't having much if any effect on his approval rating is it?
No. Sadly, his supporters appear to be blinded by partisan politics, to his terrible qualities.

I've already accepted that Trump will most likely be re-elected. All it took was me lowering my expectations for my country.

If his approval rating is going up then that means more people are are seeing him as the lesser of possible political evils doesn't it? It also means more votes for him in 2020, that's going to be very depressing to some folks isn't it?

Does anybody really believe this is going to effect Trump in some negative way?

After 2+ years of round the clock negative information being reported about him his approval ratings have risen over 10%. Looks like the average citizen is getting tired of the Dems silly antics and are tuning them out more everyday, this charade will not impress them either.
Unless a sitting President can be indicted, his jail term will have to wait. The 2020 Democratic nominee can lead the “Lock him up!” chant. :preach:

Cohen was under duress, so he told the Dems whatever they wanted to hear.

If this were true he would have stated there was Russian collusion, the peepee tape was real and Trump beat Melania. He said none of that was true. Or was he lying then, also?

Mueller didn't even give him a get out of jail free card because he didn't consider him to be a credible witness, what does that tell you?

Special counsel was thrilled with Cohen. SDNY were the ones who said he didn't cooperate well and wanted to come down hard on him.

Either way you look at it he didn't have any proof of anything or say what they really wanted to hear, did he? So they're having to settle for stacking more insinuation higher and higher to try to make their case of Trump is a (insert pejorative here) and so we need to impeach him.

This whole thing is getting really amusing seeing how low some will stoop to try and get rid of "Trump the Outsider".

It's too soon to determine what will happen or what Mueller knows or what he has evidence regarding. Remember we only know about Manafort giving polling data to Russia because his counsel failed to properly redact documents when submitting a response and none of that came up in Manafort trial. Mueller isn't finished.

What were Dems saying about Trump's popularity just before he won in 2016?

I don't know what "Dems" were saying about Trumps "popularity", but you appear to be alluding to the tired talking point about the polls. As has been discussed ad nauseum here, the polls were right. Secretary Clinton won the popular vote and only lost because of about 75,000 votes in three states. You guys really need to drop that whole meme though. There was another election in 2018 and the polls were spot on.

Listening to Cohen last night, and thinking about his claim that Donald Trump did not think he would win, this came to mind...

Right, are we talking about the same arrogant self-inflated egotistical Donald Trump who spent so much money, time, and effort into trying to win as a candidate?

Cohen hasn't changed, his own statements of "and yet I continued to work for him" year after year and now all of a sudden we're supposed to believe he has had a great moral awakening, yeah see the above, there's a reason why Carry parodied a lawyer, the same reason Cohen will be spending time in jail.

I don't know what Conservative think tank come up with the "but he's a liar" meme to discredit Cohen, but they don't seem to realize that it's only going to work in the echo chamber.

Out here in the real world we know who the real liar is.
