I became a vegetarian today. I have a condition called TMAU. I have been speaking with a naturopath. My condition called TMAU causes me to have an odor at times, of eggs or fish or meat. It only happens sometimes but it is very distressing. My natropath told me that I smell like the different foods I eat sometimes. I have had this condition since my late sophmore year in high school. I was on the low choline diet since I first had TMAU. It limits eggs, fish and meat. It helped. The naturopath I spoke with recently told me to become a vegetarian and that that would help a lot and heal the severity of the condition. I became a vegetarian today and so did my husband Caleb. It soothes my heart to know that vegetarism will help me heal a lot from TMAU. It is a blessing. My natropath told me that eating meat is unhealthy and that humans are not meant to eat meat. My natropath told me that meat is the muscle of the animals and it is not meant to be eaten by humans. My natropath told me that humans are not meant to eat animals. My natropath told me that the severity of my TMAU was caused by eating meat. My natropath told me that vegetarism will heal my body a lot.

I don't eat red meat but do eat chicken and occasionally fish ( not that keen on fish).
Perhaps you could eat chicken.
You must be very careful when totally vegetarian that you eat balanced meals so you get appropriate nutrition.
Yes, I think originally we did not eat meat but the fall in Eden caused many things. Jesus Himself ate fish and John the Baptist ate locusts which I don't think would have happened before the fall.
My point is that we aren't in an perfect creation and I am a little concerned that you put so much faith in your naturopath and I don't want you to be offended with what I say as you sound a very gentle soul.
The odour problem must be very hard for you and I hope this gets resolved. Have you consulted a medical practitioner also to get their diagnosis too?
Anyway I hope you go well,as I said do make sure your diet is balanced with other protein and be VERY careful with your iron levels.
God bless you dear one.:)

It may very well be that in your particular case that a vegetarian diet might be best for you. However, naturopaths are not doctors and your naturopath is quite wrong about human diet. Humans have evolved as omnivores capable of consuming almost everything. There is no such thing as "humans are not meant to consume ...."

I don't buy what the naturopath said about humans not being meant to eat meat, but I can definitely attest to the health benefits of reducing or eliminating meat from one's diet.

My spouse is a raw vegan and fitness instructor. The lack of meat isn't an issue at all. There are plenty of other ways to get protein. Make sure you eat a varied diet to ensure you are getting all the necessary vitamins and minerals. One of the best ways to do this is through blending and juicing.

My spouse also convinced my parents to start blending after my dad was diagnosed with cancer. Now he swears by green smoothies, and his cancer is in remission.

Personally, I consider myself a raw vegan plus. I eat everything raw vegans eat. Plus. :grinning:

Thank you so much for your kind words and insight. I will be meeting with a doctor this Friday about my TMAU. Thank you for your blessing :)

Vegan food looks delicious. I am vegeterian :)

My only problem with vegetarians and/or vegans is that so many of them are quite in-your-face militant about it. When I invite one of them over for a meal, I will go out of my way to ensure that I don't offend their sensibilities. However, I have never had one of them prepare a meat dish for me.

An amusing anecdote from quite a while ago. A Hindu friend had invited me over for a traditional Indian meal. When we were done I commented that one of the dishes was prepared with beef. He laughed and said "Don't worry my friend. it was a Canadian cow".

Fascinating :) How was the traditional Indian meal?
