My late grandmother used to say that "He who laughs last, laughs best". Now mind you, I am no huge fan of the President and I doubt that he can win re-election. However, if the Dems nominate a ticket that is viewed as too extreme and if they take some positions that are considered too controversial, then President Trump might well have the last laugh and prove to all of us the truth of my grandmother's favorite line.

be that as it may, it is possible to work to fix the damage that past (and present) schmucks have caused while in office... some damage is easy to fix, some... is going to take some effort.

Well, if you believe the world is truly finished, it's certainly your prerogative to surrender. Myself, I choose to follow the advice of Colonel Nick Fury (and he was facing a far more serious crisis):

Yeah fixed into another shmuck elected comes in and causes another setback ..and the world may not be finish yet but it surely is quickly passing away..look around and say it ain't so..And I think I do surrender...

Was I the subject of the original post, nope. Want to try again?

Who was the subject? You said "the most beloved," but you didn't specify to whom. Certainly, people could reasonably believe that you were giving your own assessment of the man, unpopular as it may be...

Again with the “brown people” panic line. There are a whole lot of brown people that wish the left would stop using them for political partisanship.

...and the the Right would stop using them as scapegoats... or worse.

I see no one - not one person on CF using them as scape goats - I do see the "scared of little brown people" line being brought up quite often as a mocking swipe at conservatives.

Unless you think all "brown people" are gang members, child traffickers, rapist etc.

Want examples:

This is exactly the fear that Trump stoked on the campaign trail. Brown people will come and steal your beautiful white American jobs and depress your wages.

Yeah! How dare two brown people think they could intimidate and cower a group of 50 white Catholic young men?

When will the Brown people learn that Trump is the President of the World?

If we're fortifying border wall that we already have, and border apprehensions have been dropping, then there is no emergency. There's just an old man having a temper tantrum over scary brown people.

This seems to be a reason why we have a system that deals with this sort of thing, and not kangaroo courts that simply decide that "scary" brown people traveling in a caravan should be stopped at the border for no reason.

Ringo

Oh no....not brown people coming in!

Well, it was their master who decided that keeping them out constitutes a "national emergency." Draw your own conclusions.

Unless you think all "brown people" are gang members, child traffickers, rapist etc.

Of course not... even Donald admits that some of them are good people.

Of course, he said the same thing about White Supremacists, so perhaps we're not supposed to take him too seriously on that one...

America has been divided about 50 50 for a while.

Not true.

Obama had a lower approval rating at this same stage of his 1st term.

Not true.

That's a pretty bad start. Not much point in reading the rest, in my opinion.

Oh, I don't know - to stop 400,000 ILLEGAL ALIENS a year? To secure our border - to keep Americans safer? To help stem the flow of drugs and human traffickers.

I am the proud son of a LEGAL immigrant who came into this country the right way and was welcomed and accepted, and did pretty well - even though we are one of these "brown people" the left keeps waving like a flag and would completely ignore otherwise.

And yet people still have a hard understanding. Hmmm.....
“Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.”

I thought he promised Mexico would pay for it.

Now, now... even Donald's followers warned us not to take him too seriously... or was that literally. Meh, po-tay-to, po-tot-to...

Why in the world would he need to take money away from veterans?

Because Donald cannot create $$$ out of nowhere like a loaves and fishes miracle. The money has to come from somewhere. And since Donald has classified it as a military project, the military must foot the bill. Do they give up a few bombers, or stop wasting money on a "broken" VA system? Seems like a no-brainer...

Oh, I don't know - to stop 400,000 ILLEGAL ALIENS a year?

The vast majority of whom enter legally at points of entry and overstay their work visas while businesses -- including Donald's own -- secretly hire them and pay them under the table.

I appreciate the CAPS, but hysterics are a poor substitute for facts.

To secure our border - to keep Americans safer?

Safer from what? Try not to scapegoat anyone -- you would ruin your streak of having never seen it here on CF.

To help stem the flow of drugs and human traffickers.

Again, that kind of bulk smuggling (of contraband and people) happens at the points of entry... Does Donald intend to wall up the harbors and airports?

I am <snip>

I didn't ask for your family history.

Hi, and what work is that? There is no work outside of God's will..you can't serve two masters either..we are not to put our faith in man but God . So why you worried about some president? If you are so for the people and God and all about doing his work, why you focus on Donald trump? And believe me when I said surrender, I did mean all the way, including this forum full of so called christians.and I believe I do have a right, it's called freedom of speech.. I'm sorry you don't like hearing the truth ...I know we can't put our faith in man while doing God's will...we are not here to be served but serve...you think Jesus is gonna wait until this place is filled with flowers party hats balloons rainbows and a birthday cake, nothing is gonna get better, it's gonna get worst..and ready or not I believe Jesus said when he comes back he will come back like a thief in the night and that it will very well be like the days of Noah...you wanna save the people, good then save the people but I know you can't do that putting your faith in man also.. man can't save us or do anything for us when they are in error themselves....

To support the troops, of course. I mean, really, they just got a big raise that should cover everything.

I am not at all surprised at the literal LOLs at Donald's ridiculous statements. It'd take a lot of restraint to suppress guffaw at some of what comes out of his mouth.

Which makes it even funnier when you consider the Chinese combination of Communist government and Confucian doctrine both put high values on restraint.

... but every man has his limits.

I don't take anyone serious about their ridicule of Trump. Like I said originally, they either have to be a psychopath, or just troubled.

Because I didn't see it applied this thoroughly in Bush's years, which surely deserved it. Let alone Obama's, at least in terms of war. I smell a rat when the sky is suddenly only falling now.
Oh come on, Bush, at least, tried to be a good president. He took it seriously. Donald lies all the time and goes out of his way to insult people in the pettiest possible way. He is blatantly corrupt and hires corrupt people to head his departments. Anyone who looks at Donald in office is bound to be troubled by it.

Much of the most disturbing ridicule comes from those who work(ed) with him or for him - troubled by him, for sure.
