Yeah, I was going to say that too. From what I've read, we're told not to pursue riches. Some people live to get rich. When asked what their goal is, they'll say "I want to make a million dollars by the time I'm X years old", or something like that. At the same time, you can ask someone else their goal, they'll say, "Having a career doing what I love to do". They could very well get rich doing so too, even if that wasn't the goal itself.

There is a saying. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I've heard of it. Not sure how it relates to what I said though.

Why didn't he use it for the charities while he was alive?
He would have seen a lot of need in his job.
Of course any money for charities is good but even if he had banked it, it would have made more for the charities with interest.
What if a dishonest person had found the money?

This reminds me of the Parable of the Talents. The person who hid their talent even though they were given great resources.

We are told to flee the pursuit of being rich and to follow after righteousness instead. Their good intentions might have been to cater to their talent, but they may not have been prepared biblically to redirect any flow of excess money to the cause of charity and or to missionary needs instead of hoarding it in their own bank account to be tempted to accumulate great material treasures with it.

It seems that everyone has their own view of what "rich" is. A homeless person who can't afford to even rent a motel room or apartment to get out of the cold would think a person who owns an entire house to be rich. The homeowner then thinks that a millionaire is rich (although that may also be relative to where they live), and the millionaire would think the billionaire is rich.
It's all relative. What matters is whether the money is controlling the person.

I don’t think so. Some are homeless because they honestly don’t want to work hard at a job to have a comfortable apartment or house. Many of them remember what middle class was like and they know the difference between the rich who do not have to work vs. the working middle class who live paycheck to paycheck. If others are uneducated on this truth, their perspective does not change reality. The working middle class are not rich because they most often work hard every week to have what they do. The Bible says if you don’t work, you should not eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10).

Maybe those people that you're shaming had many millions that they rightfully earned, and are only holding about 5 million. Billy Graham is an example of this.
I still stand by what I said, why would you need to hang onto 5 million if you had everything you needed?
When there is so much need around I believe it is immoral to do so.
There are many Christians in countries where they don't even have a Bible as well as being persecuted, I'm sure much good could be done there.

You are STILL reading wrong intentions into the situation of all millionaires. We are not told to be hard-pressed in the pursuit of helping the poor. We also are to work hard to care for ourselves and to have something to share. It is all a matter of the heart when giving so if you give all you have to the poor with wrong motives or without love and empathy or without being a cheerful giver you miss the boat.
There are the rich in this world who have been blessed with various talents and are good stewards with their budgets and wealth grows. It is not being a good steward to just aimlessly put one's money in any charity that comes along...good to have enough discernment to carefully distribute your funds over a lifetime.
Also there is a requirement to take care of family and relatives. All this is not a light matter taken care of by some hastily written checks to various charities and relatives. Needs are ascertained as well as ability of recipients to manage funds. I don't know that you are considering that many folks also want to distribute monies over a remainder of their lifetime for these reasons and more, so to say to such folks that because they are millionaires and thus outside the Kingdom is false. Your judgement is hasty and under-developed. You do not see the wealth in the Scriptures as being addressed as those in the Kingdom. They are directed to be generous and eager to share and rich in good deeds. It is the love of money that is a sin, not the holding of money itself.

New Testament Verses Condemning A Person in Being Rich:

“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19).

“Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:5-12).

“Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;” (1 Timothy 3:3).

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24).

“And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.” (Luke 8:14).

“Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:21-24).

“And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:19-21).

“Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:33-34).

“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).

“If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Luke 12:28-31).

“And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God (Luke 6:20).

“But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation” (Luke 6:24).

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:33).

“And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.” (Luke 16:9).

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5).

“Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth eaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.” (James 5:1-6).

“Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you” (1 Corinthians 4:8).

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal” (Matthew 6:19).

“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works” (1 Timothy 2:9-10).

“And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.” (Acts of the Apostles 4:32-35).

“And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.” (Mark 12:41-44).

I say take financial advice from God fearing, God following Christians who have money. It doesnt hurt.

Even if the pastor is rich it doesnt exclude him from words of wisdom. You just need to examine the words with the Holy Spirit as you would with any pastor.

We could all give more and live on less so i am not going to be quick to judge.

Sounds like twisted scripture to me. Please show me the verse which says this?
Their good intentions might have been to cater to their talent, but they may not have been prepared biblically to redirect any flow of excess money to the cause of charity and or to missionary needs instead of hoarding it in their own bank account to be tempted to accumulate great material treasures with it.
So now Christians are supposed to criticize/condemn people for what their intentions "might have been," or that they "may not have been prepared biblically?" Where are Christians commanded to "redirect any flow of excess money to the cause of charity and or to missionary needs?"
.....Where are Christians commanded to not have savings accounts to prepare for unexpected needs and emergencies? And who decides what is "excess money?" This is what Jesus told His disciples when they were sticking their noses where they didn't belong.

John 21:21-22
(21) When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"
(22) Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me."

None of those verses specifically address my questions. Which I repeat. I can understand you not being able to address my questions.

I can understand questioning some of the other poster's severity, but Jesus was pretty explicit about the simplicity and lack of greed we are called to. And that passage you're quoting has nothing to do with any of this. You're applying a passage meant for the Apostle John and martyrdom. And martyrdom is a calling different for everyone. Living without riches however is not applicable to some, but applies to others. It's the same for everyone.

And how I did I know you were going to dismiss those verses out of hand without explaining them in the English?

This is why I prefer not to converse with you, friend.

You posted the verses. The burden of proof is on you to show how these verses address my questions. As I said I can understand why you cannot do this.

None of this addresses my comment, it is just as I said, you do not discern the Truth in the Scriptures. Wealth, the love of it is deceitful...just as ALL those passages you cite claim. You are so biased in your thinking that you cannot glean the truth of the Word. Be more careful and you'll get yourself on the right track. All of these passages are used to warn against not only wealth for decadence sake or for the love of living in luxury but also that this type of worldliness chokes out their love of God. Now I could go through each passage and show that, but I believe you can take the second look yourself and truly see this.
Revelation 6:15-16:
5 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

Revelation 21:22-27:
I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

The kings of the earth bring their splendor into heaven...hmmm. You are looking only at the surface of things. Man looks at the outward appearance of things, but God looks at the heart.

You did not address my post at all.

Along with my other reply I want to ask you what prompted you to post this thread in the first place?
Are you working hard to provide for yourself and to share with others? At what point do you have too much...doesn't only God answer this question to each of us individually? Are you caring for your family and relatives? One could go on in this vein.

You posted the verses. The burden of proof is on you to show how these verses address my questions. As I said I can understand why you cannot do this.

Your questions are loaded in an attempt to undo a truth you don’t like in Scripture. I don’t have to explain the fine print details of why God says what He does within His Word. We take it by faith and believe Him. Would it really convince you if I answered your questions? My guess is that would be a...”no.”
