The "princes of this world" doesn't mean Satan's and his cohorts. It means the earthly rulers of the 'age'. The word world is 'aion/world' refers to a time period. Paul would have had to use the word KOSMOS to imply Satan.

Satan most certainly knew the mystery of God in Jesus Christ which is why he tried to tempt him.
John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

It is talking about Satan. Satan's goal was to kill Jesus all along; when he was born, later in the temptation in the wilderness, and finally by conspiring to have Jesus crucified. The rationale being that to avoid the destruction of Satan's own kingdom, mystery Babylon the Great, in making way for the Kingdom of God - he thought that by killing the King, it would avert that from happening.

Satan had no idea that his own actions would bring about his own destruction, and free mankind from the power of sin.

That there would be a new covenant, yes. But not the information of how it would come about. It was closed from anyone's understanding until after the resurrection. This is very important to know.

It was not closed to Simeon.

Luk 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
Luk 2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Luk 2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
Luk 2:28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Luk 2:29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
Luk 2:30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Luk 2:31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
Luk 2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
Luk 2:33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
Luk 2:34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
Luk 2:35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Simeon did not know that the new covenant would be based on Jesus's death and resurrection either. Simeon was made aware that Jesus was the savior, but not the path which salvation for Jews and Gentiles would take.

How do you know that Simeon did not understand the "suffering servant" of Isaiah chapter 53?

You are making claims that cannot be backed up by scripture to make your doctrine work.

There is nothing the text that said Simeon did. Nothing that said Simeon knew that Jesus would be killed and resurrected as the way God would save man from the power of sin, and have eternal life.

You are the guy making a claim that is not in the text.

And the opposite would also be true...

Do you think Simeon had never read the verse below?

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

You are never going to get it Dougg.

I said in post #1080,

"Paul would have had to use the word KOSMOS to imply Satan."

1Corinthians 2:7-8 uses the word AION! JOHN 14:30 USES THE WORD kosmos!

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Lexicon :: Strong's G2889 - kosmos
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
No, you got it wrong. Go to this link and click on the word world.

1Cor 2 | KJV | STEP | And I , brethren , when I came to you , came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom , declaring unto you the testimony of God .
αἰών (aiōn) 'an age' (G0165)
( Definite article Masculine Singular Genitive )
eternity, age (time period); "this age" can mean the universe or even the current world system, the "god of this age" refers to the devil

____________________________________________________

For John 14:30, click in this link...

Joh 14 | KJV | STEP | Let not your heart be troubled : ye believe in God , believe also in me .

world (kosmos - κόσμος)

κόσμος (kosmos) 'world' (G2889)
( Definite article Masculine Singular Genitive )
world: earth, world system, whole universe; adornment. In some contexts, the world is simply the place where people live, in other contexts (especially in John), the world is a system opposed to God

It is talking about Satan again. The prince of this world, earth, world system, whole universe, adornment.

Side note: In Revelation 12:7-9, Satan and his angels are going to be cast down from the second heaven (the cosmos, the universe) to earth when the 7th trumpet sounds, restricted to this earth, as the dismantling of Satan's his angels' kingdom of Mystery Babylon the Great begins.

They were banished from the third heaven, when they first rebelled and sinned.

It likely that Simeon had read it or was aware of it.

But that verse alone doesn't say that the seed of the woman would be killed, nor resurrected. It can mean a lot of things. It is only in hindsight that after the crucifixion and resurrection, that verse in the scriptures was understood as to what it meant.

After the resurrection, Jesus appered to them...

Luke 24
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

It looks like the 70 weeks of Daniel is a popular topic in Christianity today, so I thought I would create one and include a poll. I also am interested in discussing this.

YLT)
Daniel 9:
24 ‘Sevens, seventy are determined for thy people, and for thy holy city, to shut up the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to cover iniquity, and to bring in righteousness age-during, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.
25 And thou dost know, and dost consider wisely, from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem till Messiah the Leader [is] seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the broad place hath been built again, and the rampart, even in the distress of the times.
26 And after the sixty and two weeks, cut off is Messiah, and the city and the holy place are not his, the Leader who hath come doth destroy the people; and its end [is] with a flood, and till the end [is] war, determined [are] desolations.
27 And he hath strengthened a covenant with many — one week, and [in] the midst of the week he causeth sacrifice and present to cease, and by the wing of abominations he is making desolate, even till the consummation, and that which is determined is poured on the desolate one.’

.

Hi LittleLambofJesus! Great topic!

Verse 26 CLEARLY shows a gap of indeterminate time between the 62 "sevens" and the final "seven"... how people miss this is beyond me. How long the gap is to last is debatable, but the existence of the gap is irrefutable. The crucifixion and the destruction of the temple clearly occur during this gap (verse 26), and then, after the gap (NOT during the gap!), the abomination that causes desolation occurs at the middle of the 70th "seven" (verse 27).

Just my two cents worth...

A strong case presenting greatest evidence that there is a gap in Daniels 70th week can be made by making a list of what the expectations are if there is a gap and looking to see if this idea is tracking and if it contradicts other scripture.
For if all is fulfilled in 70 AD then that is it. But if this is future God would have to keep the Jewish identity alive until the time He would regather them from every nation and plant them in the land again. This would have to be at a time when a evil Luciferian world government was about to take control and at a time when Israel would be prepared to resume the daily sacrifices. This return of the sacrifice is critical in that this stopping of the sacrifices signifies the middle of the week. I mention some of these same passages on a parallel Dan 2 post but 2 thes 2 says the man of sin is revealed with lying signs and wonders with power from Satan and will declare himself to be God in the temple. If this is future then the temple is going to come. This one is destroyed at the coming of the LORD. Rev 13 shows that the beast is given power over every tribe tongue kindred and nation for 42 months. This is a key point as the middle of the week or 7 year period would be with 42 months to go. Rev 13 shows the beast is given power by Satan the dragon. He too is destroyed at the coming of the LORD.
So Israel is a nation again and has prepared everything for the return of the sacrifice. The UN has many nations working towards global government and the NWO elites are Luciferian in philosophy and working to merge the world together with the banner of peace and safety or prosperity just as scripture warns they would. Dan 7 is parrlell and notes the one speaking the pompous words is presecuting the saints and prevailing over them for a times times and half a time which once again is calculated as 3 1/2 years or 42 months. The middle of the week is described in all these passages.
The nation of Israel is ready to resume the sacrifice and the whole world is pressuring them to make a covenant of peace. The onset of the 70th week is described as confirming a covenant with the many. All these details are happening right now and Israel is prepared to resume the sacrifices. Satan is following the script and the fact the Rothchilds helped create Israel does not make it illegitimate. The LORD is going to save those that Satan is going to try to kill off as well as the tribulation saints. Daniels was told his book was sealed until the time of the end so it really does not bother me that old interpretation of this book are not as bold and specific as the ones today because the book that was sealed is not sealed anymore.

You are ignoring the summary of the 70 weeks prophecy found in Daniel 9:24, and its fulfillment in the New Testament.

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
(Quoted from the promise of the New Covenant in Jeremiah 31:31-34.)

Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

hi I am not ignoring the summary of Daniels 70 weeks. the focus group is Daniels people and the holy city. The order the objectives is given is very specific and one should consider it. The scope again is Daniels people and the holy city. These events relate to Israel/ Jews and Jerusalem. You would have Jesus being anointed at baptism I suppose and that is the last thing on the list which should be the 1st. Kings are anointed when they take the throne and in my view this is when Jesus comes as king. He did bring in the new covenant so I won't argue that in his 1st mission He did the 1st three objectives at His 1st advent. The finished transgression was the Jews rejecting the LORD and delivering Him up to death. The end of sins was Jesus victory over sin and death. This atonement has made reconciliation at the cross. Everlasting righteousness will be brought in and is not already. Sealing up the vision and prophecy means they are come to pass and the many future verses about national Israel and Jerusalem will all be fulfilled when Jesus crushes the head of Satan and establishes the kingdom. This is when Jesus having come as Zech 14 says is king over all the earth and is anointed at such a time.
Here are a few verse that support this and I like your Jer 31 reference as we agree the new covenant in clearly brought in. Jer 31 says it is replacing the covenant with Moses and not the one with ABrham. God deeded the land to Abraham and his seed and made them a great nation. The promise to the world is in Abes seed the whole world would be blessed. This is the line that led to Jesus and goes back to Adam and indeed the seed of the woman crushed the head of the serpent and all the world is blessed to have salvation brought to it through this seed.
The promise to Abraham still stands. Amos 9 speaks of a day when Israel is planted in the land and never to be pulled up again. The context of this passage makes it impossible to say it is the church. This is not the new Jerusalem either.
“On that day I will raise up
The tabernacle[fn] of David, which has fallen down,
And repair its damages;
I will raise up its ruins,
And rebuild it as in the days of old;
12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom,[fn]
And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,”
Says the LORD who does this thing.
13 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD,
“When the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
And the treader of grapes him who sows seed;
The mountains shall drip with sweet wine,
And all the hills shall flow with it.
14 I will bring back the captives of My people Israel;
They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them;
They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them;
They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.
15 I will plant them in their land,
And no longer shall they be pulled up
From the land I have given them,”
Says the LORD your God.

Jer 31 once again says right after the promise is given that as long as the sun and moon endure Israel will not cease to be a nation in Gods eyes. God knowing all things understood the destruction of Jerusalem was coming shortly after the new covenant was brought in. This verse and another like it show clearly that national Israel continues. This is followed again by a promise
38 “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that the city shall be built for the LORD from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. 39 The surveyor’s line shall again extend straight forward over the hill Gareb; then it shall turn toward Goath. 40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be holy to the LORD. It shall not be plucked up or thrown down anymore forever.”

When the dead bodies are everywhere the city will be built to the LORD and it shall not be plucked down any more forever. This cannot be the new Jerusalem there are not dead in it. This is when the LORD comes and establishes the kingdom on earth.

Jer 3
16 “Then it shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says the LORD, “that they will say no more, ‘The ark of the covenant of the LORD.’ It shall not come to mind, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they visit it, nor shall it be made anymore.
17 “At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the LORD, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem. No more shall they follow the dictates of their evil hearts.
18 “In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers.

This is again the beginning of the millennium Jerusalem is the throne of the Lord. This is national Israel.

Ezekiel 37 shows national Israel being saved again and being born again. O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. 14 I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,” says the LORD.’ ”

18 “And when the children of your people speak to you, saying, ‘Will you not show us what you mean by these?’— 19 say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will join them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand.” ’ 20 And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes.
21 “Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

In context the passage below is an Old Testament version of the bodily resurrection of the dead found in John 5:27-30, whose timing is found in Revelation 11:18.

Eze 37:1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
Eze 37:2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
Eze 37:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
Eze 37:4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
Eze 37:5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
Eze 37:6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
Eze 37:7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
Eze 37:8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
Eze 37:9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
Eze 37:10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
Eze 37:11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
Eze 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
Eze 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
Eze 37:14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
Eze 37:15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Eze 37:16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
Eze 37:17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
Eze 37:18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
Eze 37:19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
Eze 37:20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
Eze 37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
Eze 37:22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
Eze 37:23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
Eze 37:24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. (Who is the descendant of David found in Matthew 1:1? Who is the one shepherd found in John 10:16?)
Eze 37:25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
Eze 37:26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. (Who is now the "sanctuary", and what is His "everlasting" covenant found in Hebrews 13:20? How long is "evermore"? Is it only 1,000 years?)
Eze 37:27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Eze 37:28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
(See 1 Peter 2:4-10.)

Heb 11:15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

After Christ died, rose again, and ascended to heaven, there were still 3 ½ day-years remaining in the prophecy. These ended in 34 AD with the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7:59-8:4). At that time the Gospel was given to the Gentiles by individual ambassadors from every nation. Paul, the very one who consented to the stoning of Stephen, became the apostle to the Gentile world. Israel ceased to be the recipient and channel of God’s truth. ~ The 70-Week Prophecy | Daniel 70 Weeks Prophecy

Stoning of Stephen against the Law

edit:
Were the Judeans breaking the Law by stoning "Stephen" in Acts 7?
In John 18:13, they told Pilate it was not permitted to put to death anyone.
Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

John 18:31
Pilate is then Saying then Pilate to them: "Be taking Him ye, and according to the Law of ye, judge! ".
Said to him the Judeans: "to-us not is permitted to put to death no-one".

Acts 7:
1 And the high priest said, "Are these things so"?...........
54 Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed upon him with their teeth.
59 And as they were stoning Stephen, he was calling out and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
60 And having fallen on his knees, he cried in a loud voice, “Lord, do not place this sin to them.” And having said this, he fell asleep.

"Stoned" being shown in Revelation[no pun intended].........

Revelation 16:21
and hail, great as talent weight is descending out of the heaven upon the men
and the men blaspheme the God out of the stripe/blow of the hail,
that great is the stripe/blow of her, tremendous. [Isaiah 28:17,18]
Another thing interesting I noticed. "Stephen" sees Jesus standing out of the rights of God and the word heaven is singular in verse 55 but plural in vs 56.
Interesting also how it is similar to the event in Revelation 19. Thoughts?

Acts 7:55
Beginning yet full of Spirit, holy, gazing into the heaven, he saw glory of God and Jesus having stood out of rights of the God,
56 and said "Behold!
I am beholding the heavens being opened/anewgmenouV <455> (5772) and the Son of the Man out of rights having stood of God!"
Revelation 19:11
And I perceived the heaven being opened/anewgmenon <455> (5772) and behold! A white horse and the One sitting on it being called Faithful-one and True-one
and in justice He is judging and is battling.

Reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that there are some folks who have been deceived by the counterfeiter of the truth as was Eve.

Prayers are being offered at this time for those that are deceived by false teachings.

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

IMHO most of the posts are of the
many.

Matthew 24:11 King James Version (KJV)
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive
many.

Are you among the
many or the few?

Bible definition of the few
Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 19:10
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Daniel 9:25 (KJV) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

This was telling the Israelites it will be 69 weeks until the Messiah comes, from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem, notice the temple is not in this.

Daniel 9: 26 (KJV) And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

This does not include the 7 weeks it is And After 62 weeks shall Messiah be cut off. He would not be cut off before he first came so this is after 69 weeks. The temple was rebuilt before the city and walls were rebuilt which is the 7 weeks. The last week started with Jesus’ baptism and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the temptation of Satan and then his ministry started by picking his disciples, three and a half years (1260) days before the crucifixion.

The people of the prince that shall come. This is not the prince, it is the people of the prince. Destroying the Temple was not among Titus' goals, due to the massive increases done by Herod the Great mere decades earlier. Titus had wanted to seize it and transform it into a temple dedicated to the Roman Emperor. The soldiers did not obey, they were so mad by the resistance they destroyed the temple, and burned the temple and the gold melted and run down in the cracks, so they tore it totally down for the gold. (It is the people of the prince, not the prince). Daniel 9:27 (KJV) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Some place this at the end of time, when the clock starts back up, and the he here is the antichrist, so ending the four hundred ninety years at four hundred and eighty-three and a gap of thousands of years of time, and the last seven years for the Tribulation period. Jesus is the one who came to confirm the covenant. He fulfilled the old and confirmed the new. Luke 4:17-21 (KJV) 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.20 And he closed the book, and he gave
it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

When Jesus died on the cross, the old covenant animal sacrifices was nailed to the cross because, Jesus is the final sacrifice, no more animal sacrifice even though they continued to be offered until 66-67A.D. He confirmed the covenant and he also fulfilled the old covenant being without spot and perfect in the eyes of God and the only one that could undo the first covenant and make the new covenant which ended the Jewish Law keeping animal sacrifices. Jesus told the woman at the well this.
John 4:21-23 (KJV) 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Matthew 23:37-38 (KJV) 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Jesus made it desolate. When is the end of the seventieth week? In Acts, we see that Jesus through the Holy Ghost had given commandments to his apostles not to depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. Jesus came first for the Jews, and the entire last week of this prophesy was to the lost sheep of Israel confirming the covenant, and the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven.

It is clear that Jesus came first for the lost sheep of Israel to confirm the new covenant with Israel. Even after they crucified him, Jesus commanded the apostles to keep confirming and not to go to the Gentiles, and for the next three and a half years the other 1260 days they did not.

Acts 7:54-60 (KJV) 54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

They totally rejected him and they put the only begotten Son of God, the Messiah to death. The clock did not stop because the crucifixion and the resurrection are half way through the last seventieth week and the apostilles confirmed the last three- and one-half years.

The temple was almost 40 years later, maybe this was the compassion of God, a grace period for them to repent.

hi I am not ignoring the summary of Daniels 70 weeks. the focus group is Daniels people and the holy city. The order the objectives is given is very specific and one should consider it. The scope again is Daniels people and the holy city.

Well, since Every Human on earth today has Jewish DNA in them, don't we all fall into that "focus group/scope" category?

Or, perhaps you believe there is some different criteria we ought use today in determining who "Daniel's people" are besides Genetics?

Yes. I have been studying Josephus in relation to Daniel, the Olivet Discourse and Revelation and I am just awed and blown away by the huge divine event in 70ad.
This site has a huge study on Josephus and the Jewish revolts/wars from 62AD to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70ad, and the final Jewish stronghold of Masada in 73ad if you are interested:

ROMAN SIEGE AND SACK OF JERUSALEM

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

..............Such was the horrible condition of the place when Titus and his army presented themselves, and encamped before Jerusalem ; but, alas ! not to deliver it from its miseries but to fulfill the prediction, and vindicate the benevolent warning of our Lord............
At this critical and alarming conjuncture, intelligence arrived that the Roman army was approaching the city........
The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover........

Finding it impossible to restrain the impetuosity and cruelty of his soldiers, the Commander in chief proceeded, with some of his superior officers, to take a survey of those parts of the edifice which were still uninjured by the conflagration.
It had not, at this time, reached the inner Temple, which Titus entered, and viewed with silent admiration. Struck with the magnificence of its architecture, and the beauty of its decorations, which even surpassed the report of fame concerning them ;
and perceiving that the sanctuary had not yet caught fire, he redoubled his efforts to stop the progress of the flames.
He condescended even to entreat his soldiers to exert all their strength and activity for this purpose, and appointed a centurion of the guards to punish them if they again disregarded him :
but all was in vain.........................

The vial of divine wrath, which had been so long pouring out upon this devoted city was now emptying, and JERUSALEM, once "a praise in all the earth," and the subject of a thousand prophecies, deprived of' the staff of life, wrapt in flames, and bleeding on every side sunk into utter ruin and desolation.
This memorable siege terminated on the eighth day of the ninth month, A. D. 70 : its duration was nearly five months,
the Romans having invested the city on the fourteenth day of the fourth month, preceeding..............

In executing the command of Titus, relative to the demolition of Jerusalem, the Roman soldiers not only threw down the buildings, but even dug up their foundations, and so completely levelled the whole circuit of the city, that a stranger would scarcely have known that it had ever been inhabited by human beings.
=============================
This person has a great utube series on the Jewish wars.
The Roman siege of Masada is particular awsome concerning the Romans practically building a small hill to reach the top.......

Great post Rodron.

This person has a great utube series on the Jewish wars.
The Roman siege of Masada is particular awsome concerning the Romans practically building a small hill to reach the top.......

Isaiah 61:2

And the day of vengeance<5359> of our 'Elohim, To comfort all mourners.

Before the Cross:

Luke 4:
17 the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written:
21 and He began by saying,
“Today this Scripture is fulfilled<4137> in your hearing.”

40yrs later in 70ad:

Luke 21:
22 That days of vengeance<1557> these are,
of the to be fulfilled<4130> all the having been written.
23 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
For there will be great Distress in the land and Wrath<3709> upon this people.

1 Thessalonians 2:15
who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted<1559> us,
and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,

Luke 7:
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge<1557> his elect, that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them? 8 I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Revelation 6:10
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge <1556> your blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

The Great City/Harlot/Queen Revelation chapts 17-19

Revelation 19:2
“For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great Harlot who corrupted the earth with Her fornication;
and He has avenged <1556> on Her the blood of His servants shed by Her.”
Thanks Little Lamb! I am new and still trying to find my way around. Look forward to checking that out. I'm a two finger typist but love the Word and truth is light, wow may we never be in darkness!!!

Useful and informative post. Welcome to the forum Rodron.
