Paul tells us we are dead and our life is hid with Chriat in God. Do we believe that?

Paul tells us that we are not in the flesh any longer and owe it nothing. Do we believe that?
That's not saying we have been magically changed, but that we are aware of an alternative now.. right? Choice remains but if one truly understand how loving neighbour as self trumps anything that a self serving life can wreck, then it would be hard to go back to being who we see on the news and around us. IMO

I will not use the term 'magical' for we are not dealing with sorcery but there is most definitely a supernatural element... the power of God.

In reference to your question, we always have had 'a choice', haven't we? We just have failed to make the right one most times. Why? Our carnal old nature keeps getting in the way, that's why.

If we can simply climb out of our disobedience typified by Romans 7 and instead make the correct choice, why haven't we? For that matter, why did Christ have to come and die in our place if all we had to do is to choose to do good, choose to love lothers as we love ourselves, choose to oey Him always? The cross would be unnecessary.

Why did He have to die? Yes, to see our sins washed white as snow, but there is more. He died so that our old carnal nature could be put to death as well, and He rose from the dead so that He could bring us up with Him as new creatures, children who could now say no to the devil... every time!

When you are referring to our becoming aware that we have a choice to truly be able to obey, that is head understanding, and this will be like a mirage, tempting us to think it is all 'mind over matter', but when we truly put it to the test, it evaporates under the heat of the moment. Self will win until self is reckoned dead as Paul instructed us in Romans 6.

You see, we truly do need spiritual power, what you referred to as 'magic'. Yes, it is real and yes, it is for us, but first, we have to see our great need and then we have to see that without the power of God in us, causing us to obey, we are without hope of ever truly walking in holiness, and pleasing our God by obeying Him in all things.

Such power awaits each one of us, but until we get to the point we have NO strength, we will continue to think if we try. just a bit harder, we can toe the line and obey as Christ asks of us. We cannot.

Blessings,

Gideon

Resurrection and first into the Kingdom as King. Only fair.
And when we finally 'get it' that we really have been born again.... resurrected to newness of life... and that the only reason we are walking in failure is that we have never put them on by faith, we are in for the mother of all paradigm shifts.

Blessings to you, Timothy

Absolutely, the world is corrupt, in some ways it is worse and in others it is the same.

But we cannot ignore scripture. We have been in the last days for 2,000 years.

I like this little saying:

Live each day as though Jesus died yesterday, rose today and is coming back tomorrow

That is great advice.

A lot of people in tbe church get very agitated when one talks about the end times and the closeness of the final sands draining out of the hourglass of time. I often hear them counter with, "Yes, but there have always been tnings like we are facing today. Really?
Look, when people in the world who have no hope of Jesus returning talk about an approaching apocalypse, we have turned a corner somewhere. Consider that corner officially turned.

I get both sides of the issue. In the past some of the Pre-trib people have been really over the top on the issue. Not just fear mongering in some cases, but I think even preaching an escapist mentality when it comes to facing persecution etc.

Now that being said, now that I'm older I sort of take comfort in the idea that the World is passing away and I do tend to look at today's events and see them through Bible prophecy, and I also watch a few pre-trib people like JD Farag. Don't always agree with them, but they sometimes have good things to say.

Very interesting. We can also see that moral absolutes that have stood for thousands of years are now no more, they broke down in our day.

We have same sex marriage, no longer exclusively between a man and a woman
We have persons who can self certify a change of gender or identify themselves as genderless (non-binary)
We will soon reach the point where more people in Western countries have been aborted than are actually living in them.

Signs of the times, they must be! But the clincher is that we have churches, Christian leaders and church leaders giving their assent to all of the above.

:)

Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

offer that is how they knew, when they wrote about 60 to 62. The Gospel had completely covered the Roman Empire. And the known world beyond

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
