But would you like to be tempted with the opportunity? What did Jesus say in the desert?
Two words, Dave....Ramsey.
that list is wrong about Billy Grahm that I know for a fact as his son mentioned his He had to advise his father in his older age to stop giving away all his money so we would have some left in his golden years, his spokesman at his funeral suggested it was about 5 million he ended with
One thing I have found in life. It is those with the absolute least that are the most giving.
Ah. That's a strange definition of "rich". Sounds to me like you're saying that Christians should not be absurdly rich.
Is it okay for a Christian to make 75k per year?
@Jason0047 A lot of actors from Christian movies that you like are fairly wealthy. Kirk Cameron's networth is $20 million, for example. You've contributed to his wealth if you've seen or endorsed any of his movies. Does that make you upset?
I would thank God for a million dollars. I'd pray to steward it with wisdom, providing for my family and also being generous toward the work of the gospel.
That goes without saying. If they give it all away, they won't have it anymore. Hence, they have the least.
million dollars doesn't go far anymore
if people want to retire, they need to save
average cost for basic living in retirement is about $36,000/yr and figure 20 yrs in retirement
then hope you don't need a nursing home
we know someone in one now and it's $7,000/ mos
his daughter is afraid his money will run out soon
people end up homeless, unable to afford medications, etc in old age because they never saved money or prepared
stay healthy, never get sick, nor go into a nursing home
nor get in a car accident, nor send any kids to college, nor give any money to your destitute relatives (who failed to save because they never made much money)
we trust in God but no one knows if they're the one to end up in a nursing home
we've seen it happen even to those with families who do their best to care for a relative but comes a point when they no longer can and the person is totally immobile and needs healthcare from professionals
Although mammon would go a long way in loving neighbour as self if used properly. Take the money for a wall. Is it God's way to have capitalists profit from it or would it serve Him if the money was used to improve conditions and oppression for others. Would they then need to leave home? I'm not talking feed them but remove the oppression that prevents them from living their own lives.
2 Thessalonians 3:10
Who said anything about not working?
The purse holder does not own the money. They helped others with that money and did not hoard it so as to buy a mansion or other treasures.
