When evening comes...I will give thanks to God for the day past..What do you do when evening comes?
A great prayer to pray! Good to commit our night and sleep to our loving Father in heavenMay God be in my sleep;
may Christ be in my dreams.
May the Spirit be in my repose,
in my thoughts, in my heart.
In my soul always
may the Sacred Three dwell.
May the Father of heaven
have care of my soul,
His loving arm about my body,
through each slumber
and sleep of my life.
How reassuring is the Word of God!One of my favourite texts is Psalm 127:2 and when I read it in the Good News Bible text, it always makes me smile
"It is useless to work so hard for a living, getting up early and going to bed late. For the LORD provides for those he loves, while they are asleep."
make sure you read and chew over one of the Psalms before you retireI'm currently working night shifts, so my routine is a bit out of place! Sometimes I am awake all through the night, at other times I am not!
If I'm planning to go to bed at night, I usually spend the evening doing things to relax, such as watching TV, possibly a film - usually things that are light hearted and don't require much deep thinking. I like chatting to friends on the phone or on the computer, or playing my piano (with headphones on!).
Before going to bed, I will spend some time talking and listening to God, reflecting on the day - the things that have gone well, and the things that I could have done better. Some days I will pray simply as I feel led, on other days I will use set prayers such as the Daily Office (Compline).
Glad you had a safe journey back from Wales and that you will enjoy your TV programme and that it will give you some very happy memories. God bless.I shall relax this evening after the drive home from Wales. It was a good journey with light traffic, even though there were a fair number of motorbikes.
I am going to watch countryfile on TV, BBC1, they are visiting Slimbridge which is where my dear son took us for a visit with our little granddaughter, the year before he died....wonderful memories,
Thank you for your lovely prayer...May God the Father be the guardian of this place
and bring His peace
that fear may find no entity here.
May Christ be a chosen companion and friend
May loneliness be banished.
May the Spirit bring lightness and laughter,
and be the comforter of tears.
Courage be at each going out;
rest be present at each return,
each day, each night,
each going out and each returning.
