I went from the AR platform to this rifle type because of the leftist angst over pistol grips and in spite of our right to own what we want at least I won't need to worry about them with this carbine. In addition to having the same performance as the AR platform you get a suppressor ready, breakdown capable, magazine choice from 10-17-30 rounds. Since I also carry a SR9 pistol I can change them out as needed. No need for Glock mags even though it would take them with a swap of the well mechanism. It will also take my ATN Night Scope with no problem.

I've been interesting in one of these myself. I own several ARs (all 5.56mm) and considering getting a .300 Blackout upper soon.
I like that it can take Glock mags with a change in the mag well mechanism as I own many Glocks (Yes, I am a self admitted Glock fan-girl ;) ).

I'm in love.

Don't mind me, I'll get over it. :sorry:

I really like the Ruger Sr platform, When I first picked a SR9 I loved the feel of it. That is a sweet looking little shooter, Let us know how she performs
I bought the carbine, took it home, had it for a few hours and then suddenly realized that SR9 designate on the meant Ruger SR9 Pistol. DUH! I have the SR9 in mint condition and 3 17 round magazines in my gun locker. I don't need Glock magazines as I can get the after market SR9/10, SR9/17 and SR9/30 magazines for about 1/2 of the cost of Glock mags.

Anyway, I took it to the range yesterday with a Nikon 3-9 x 40 on it and set up at 50 yards (150 ft). Made two adjustments on the scope and loaded up with 124 grain Monarch Hollow Points. I shot out the center of the target until the flying paper and backing looked like I was hitting a seagull. I shot several at the 100 yard but true to the ballistics of the 9mm Parabellum round (According to testing from a fixed test block) the 9mm bullet is transonic between the 50 and 100 yard targets causing it to be dead on at 50 and unpredictable at 100. Whooo-hoo! I am definitely infatuated with it. Break it down and clean up is easy as pie. A little oil and put it back together with no concerns about changing center of the scope. I am not using hand loads in it yet as I am breaking it in shooting the cheapest bullets I can find for that. Once I have it broken in and sure it is not going to be sent back to the factory I will start working up +P+ loads with Hornady 124 grain.

Sounds great. Glock is "John Deer" of gun parts so yes they are expensive just because of the name.
Weatherby has the same issues.
Just out of curiosity, Have you ever tried High Point 9mm? They have it now in 10mm and 40 cal also.
I have shot the 9 and was honestly surprised for a 300 dollar gun. I figured it would jam and be junk, Far from it as it ate everything we fed it and never had a hiccup all day.

I cut my pistol caliber teeth on the 995TS. I was destroying the 10 ring at 50 yards. I sold it to buy this one and now that I have shot both, the differences between the Ruger and the HiPoint are nil when it comes to the bullet impact point. (I also kept my 4095TS and plan to buy the 4595TS and 1095TS in the future.) In fact I paid 189.00 on sale for my .40 from Davidson's and after my experience with HiPoint I plan to only buy used. Their warranty is second to none. (P.S. - The reason I sold it was that the pistol grip now qualifies it as an "assault rifle" now that leftists have been allowed to speak their minds on Twit and Nit. If I had to give up my other HiPoints in the future I would still have a matching carbine and pistol (PC9 and SR9 both used the same magazines.)

I'd be curious to see how this stacks up against the Beretta CX4 Storm.
Well, as far as accuracy goes, the majority of repeatable accuracy can be more a case of the ability of the bullet than the gun itself. The Ruger has something that none of the others have even though I haven't see it play out yet. For now the 9mm is the only one made. However, from what we can tell the bolt head and barrel and the magazine well can be interchanged to produce an entirely different caliber. Say, go from 9mm to .40 - 10mm - .45 with the same gun. I sure feels stout enough to take a .45 or 10mm without any concern for it being strong enough.

Might be worth it if the interchangeable parts (once developed) are priced reasonably!

Affirmative. I wish I had kept my targets from the first day once I got the scope set but let's suffice to say that the 10 ring was gone and the others not in the 10 were in the 9. The bullets I was using were transonic somewhere between the 50 and 100 yard targets. I am loading up some more to try and see if I can keep the Hornady 124 HP supersonic to 100 yards. If so I expect them to be just as accurate as those at 50 yards, but probably with a 1.5-2" drop.

Amen brother, American made and a warranty like no other I know of.
One guy left his High Point nine on the floor of a flooded basement for a long time and it dried up and rusted shut. He sent it in asking if they could fix it and how much it would cost? he assumed it was ruined because of his silly actions. The company sent him a brand new one with extra mags at no cost whatsoever to him. He said hey wait, this was my fault? but they said no problem, Enjoy the new nine :]
Wow; that is what I call customer service.
I have a ruger p95 [before SR 9] with four mags that is like brand new and it is a great shooter. It is my favorite to carry out fishing and hiking around.

Ruger makes some quality pistols. I've got a Police Service Six revolver, 22/45 Lite, SR1911 .45, and just purchased a new SR1911 9mm Target model.
I had the 22/45 Target and currently have the SR9, Mark III, Single Six .22 LR/Mag, and now the PC Carbine. As I have become more familiar with them over the years you can tell that they build guns to last for generations of hand me downs.

Is the Service Six a .38? I have the matching S&W Combat Special in .38 with a modified target trigger. As far as accuracy and reliability I do like the wheel guns.

The Police Service Six is a .357 Magnum. I usually shoot .38 special target loads in it, but every once in a while I'll put a box of full power magnum loads down the barrel.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Ruger carbine. Glad you enjoy yours!

As to your reason for buying it, don't fool yourself thinking it's safe from the leftists. I live in Washington state and last November they passed I-1639 which designated ALL semi-automatic rifles (including Ruger 10/22s and Marlin 60 .22s) as Assault Rifles and subject to additional regulation and fees. Now illegal to sell a 10/22 to a 20yr old Marine Corps sniper. And it requires a waiver of our HIPA rights so the local Chief of Police can go over your medical and mental health records to decide if you should be able to own one.

My response to the new law??

I ordered one of these...

Should be here next week. Takes Glock mags and is in 9mm. So I have 33-round capacity in what is classified as a pistol and according to the Washington liberals in Seattle, is less scary than a Ruger 10/22...

I had to do some work on the retractor and polish the edge of the ramp to remove a burr. Once that was done a 4x32 scope at 50 - 60 yards and it is proving lethal to swamp critters that make good stew. That it breaks down is a 50-50. It will fit in my larger backpack and uses the same 17 round mags from my Ruger SR9 or will take Glock mags with a <5min exchange of the well insert. It is a joy to shoot and cleaning is easy.
