Jesus wants to baptize every believer with the Spirit (and fire)
Every believer has the Holy Spirit. Faith is a fruit thereof. The Baptism comes through repentance (Acts 2:38) and living a Holy lifestyle.

Matt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Friend if you will look closely you will see that there is a comma after Holy Ghost and fire is representative of His coming judgement. -- Ie: hell

A person is baptised with the Holy Spirit at conversion, When they confess Jesus Christ they receive the full Holy Spirit. Not a JR one.

Isaiah 4:4 when the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains from the heart of Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.

There are 3 baptisms: the first one saves us, the second and third baptisms take place after conversion.

Yes that is exactly how I received it - with very deep repentance.

Not sure if He always does it this way however...

Blessings,

Carl Emerson.
The Holy Spirit enters every believer at conversion. However, when you study scripture you will see believers were baptized with and received the Holy Spirit a while after conversion.

Paul is referring to the one baptism that saves us, that is, the one that Jesus prophesied in Luke 12 50
I wont argue about this, But it is ONE Holy Spirit baptism that is given at the believers conversion at the very moment that you are saved then you are sealed.
The "gifting" is different and Gifts of Prophecy and encouragement ETC: are given as God Wills however since you are charismatic we will not agree anyway because you believe in the apostolic gifts still in operation.
So I will bug out of your thread but be blessed friend :)

Hi there,

Totally agree... I was baptised in the Spirit about 20 years after being born again...

Blessings,

Carl Emerson.

Southernscotty seems right on concerning the baptism of fire referred to in Matthew 3. When Jesus said I baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire, in context he was talking about two groups of people. The fire was for those who did not repent.
Matthew 3:7 (KJV)
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

You are confusing the false doctrine of "baptismal regeneration" with scriptural baptism of believers by immersion in water. But this thread is about the baptism with the Holy Spirit that happens to all believers upon repentance according to Peter in Acts 2:38.
