• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Also, a guy I used to work with had Stage IV colon cancer and lived another 10 years, so while its a difficult to take diagnosis, there is room to hope.

Currently with MD Anderson in Houston (treatments conducted by local oncologist). The Cetuximab + FOLFIRI worked wonders when I started it last December 2017. This was after a metastases in late 2016 and an ineffective HIPEC surgery/treatment to remove tumors in the peritoneal cavity. Local oncologist and MD Anderson first put me on Bevacizumab + FOLFIRI with little effect. Minor tumor reduction in areas but cancer spread to liver and spleen. First diagnosis was Stage III colon cancer in summer of 2012 did the surgery and FOLFOX for 6 months. One lobe showed up cancerous two years later, removed and put on oral chemo (thin Xelondra).

As stated, the Cetuximab + FOLFIRI started in Dec 2017, and immediately my CEA numbers went down significantly from 200 to under 10 within three months. Last few scans showed minimal disease which is medical term for they cannot measure any tumors (Praise be to God!). CEA numbers got as low as 3.5 but has been bouncing around 5 and 7 for the past few months now steady at 7s. I know single digits good but now being on this Cetuximab for over a year asked the oncologist local if that means that immunotherapy may be running its course and we need to look for other options. He said too early to tell but that usually they see Cetuximab running its course (meaning no longer works) in people after 6 months. I was well beyond that mark when the numbers inched up slightly.

Heading to MDA next week and will confer with the oncology team there. See what options available if indeed the Cetuximab is running the course. Local oncologist said clinical studies.

Thanks to @Jeffwhosoever for the clinical trial link!

Hi...my wife has been battling with colorectal cancer since June 2017. She has been through chemo (5Fu) and radiation. She was scheduled for surgery for a resection of the colon (colostomy) due to the tumor growing into the spincter muscle. As we got closer to surgery date (11-30-17) it was determined that she would also need reconstructive surgery due to the tumor invading into the vaginal wall behind the colon..on the day of her surgery they opened her up, and then abruptly stopped the surgery. The doctor called me to a room, and informed me he found cancer seeds in her abdominal cavity. I believe this is refered to as peritoneal carcinomatosis? So he said that it would not benefit her to have the surgery as it wouldn't save her life or give her more time, and only put her at risk for additional complications. He suggested that we simply do more chemo and radiation. He stated the cancer was going to kill her..So my question is this: has anybody been through this and if so, are there any other treatment options out there..any suggestions..i am desperate to save my wife..i have a second opinion appointment but its weeks away..

Have you been able to feed your wife a completely whole food plant-based diet as an adjunct to the treatment? My understanding is that whole plants have potent anti-cancer effects on the body through multiple mechanisms, and since that same food comes in direct contact with the stomach and intestinal walls it can play a critical role in the progression of those types of cancers.

"Just two weeks eating healthy; their bloodstream became that much more hostile to cancer.

It's like an entirely different person inside. The same blood now coarsing through these womens' bodies gained the power to significantly slow down and stop breast cancer cells after just two weeks eating a plant-based diet.

What kind of blood do we want in our body? What kind of immune system? Do we want blood that's just going to roll over when new cancer cells pop up? Or do we want blood circulating to every nook and cranny in our body with the power to slow down and stop it."
My most heartfelt wishes to you and your wife.
