I read just yesterday that Justice Ginsburg is ready to return to court.

We saw "On the Basis of Sex" yesterday, and it was beautiful, charming, and, I'm sure, inspiring to young women (and young-at-heart women) everywhere.

What a difference from "Vice," the frightening portrait of a ruthless, manipulative Dick Cheney during the Bush administration (which, by the way, received Golden Globes for best actor and best screenplay).

She can be very proud (and America can be very grateful) for her legacy--but her legacy is still being written. Thankfully, God isn't finished with her yet, and she stands out as a beacon of honesty and integrity in this bleak, chaotic political landscape,

It was really touching how the actor thanked Satan.

Let’s you know something.

And I watched an interview regarding her prospects by a doctor on MSNBC. RBG will be fine after recovery. However, she SHOULD take a month to before coming back to work. That is NORMAL recovery time.

Thanks to our thoughts and prayers (and divine providence that lead to her cancer being detected early so evidence-based medical treatment could be given promptly; her disciplined exercise routines; her legendary work ethic; and her indomitable spirit) Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has returned to the Supreme Court. She had been working from home since recovering from cancer surgery.

HALLELUJAH!!! I  RBG.

Makes me think that RBG is the person "ordained by God" to protect our Constitution from oligarchical revisions during its assault by Donald J. Trump.
And what will you think if she gets a stroke tomorrow?

Then Trump will get to pick a new justice and the First Amendment is out the window. What we have to think about God will be dictated by right-wing Evangelical extremists.

Sounds like a well-structured life.

I'm sure Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an impressive woman, but she's clearly old and tired and possibly suffering from the after-effects have just beaten cancer. My grandmother went through brain cancer and survived, but it wasn't without complications.

From a governing perspective, the Judicial Branch of the American government seems to have a loophole. Ruth should retire gracefully and pass the baton on to a fresh new SCOTUS not only for her own good but in respect to the position. I fear that she may be used as more of a political tool to manipulate a functional government.

There is no pre-determined term limit for a Chief Justice to remain in the SCOTUS. It's for life. It seems it can be manipulated to suit outside influences.

I dont follow. The position is for life. RBG is still alive, so how is that loophole abuse? Sounds to me like everything is working as intended.

What do you mean with manipulation by outside influences?

Alive but incapacitated, and therefore unable to do her duties appropriately or up to the high standards required.

I wouldnt call her incapacitated. Shes propably sharper than me on a good day.

But yeah, in the case of, lets say, a stroke that leaves her without her mental faculties or in a prolonged coma, that would neccessitate some action. Provisions should be in place.

But until that time has come (if it even comes at all), there is no use in calling for her to preventively step down.

Also you have to remember that even when one judge is incapacitated, the Supreme Court still exists and can decide on rulings. Theres just the chance of a tie. The same happens when a seat is not filled, like in 2016 when the republicans decided not to vote on a supreme court pick by Obama.

She is not incapacitated, but for some conservatives, it seems they really wish her death or concern troll about wanting her to step down. I would argue there is real concern if they would like her to be replaced by a Justice with the same ideological leaning. We already know the answer because we saw the removal of the mask by the likes of people like McConnel when Scalia died. They will destroy government to get the judiciary they want and that's the sad part.

It takes 9 to make the SCOTUS function, yet there is a possibility to manipulate it due to the incarceration of just one member to the point that important decisions cannot find a resolution.

Supreme court judges can also be impeached if, for example, they are proven to have committed a serious crime or breached their duties. There are already provisions in place for that.

Of course, you might suggest that some political power might imprison judges that arent ruling in their favor. But if that ever happens (and I dont see that happening for at least the next few weeks), we can safely say that the USA has finally turned into a totalitarian state and the proper function of the Supreme Court is no longer of any concern.
