Mass shooting with many injuries is reported in Chicago suburb, police say

An active shooter was reported Friday afternoon in Aurora, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, according to the city’s Twitter account.

Dozens of area police officers have responded to the situation, and there are many injuries, according to Kendall County dispatch.

Roads are blocked off in the area and vehicles belonging to Aurora police and the Kane County sheriff as well as ambulances and a fire truck were seen speeding to the scene. State police and DuPage County officials also responded. The city spans parts of three counties.

West Aurora School District schools are holding all students in place for their safety due to the incident in the area, according to a statement.
