Waking up to a light dusting of snow on the ground.

Ah--yes--a light dusting. Took me back to my North Dakota years---when you woke up to over 5 feet of snow staring at you when you opened the front door!

I don't think we have ever had that much snow...we are fairly sheltered from the worst of the weather.
Memories of playing with my children in the snow, when they were young...:)

I have my two little dogs at my feet, and both of them have their tails wagging.
That conjures up a lovely picture!

Following on from that thought, memories of the pets I have had makes me smile.

Digging in to a jar of lacto-fermented anything. I have several kinds. A tomato salsa, a tomatillo salsa,
Italian Giardiniera, and some of my red kraut (red cabbage, red onion, blood oranges, beets with some allspice and cloves)--and a new one that is really great also---Korean/Hawaiian jalapenos---with serrano's, fresh pineapple, garlic, some brown sugar along with the regular and soy sauce. The liquid tastes like a teriyaki sauce. I've got a batch of garlic paste going now--did over 2lbs. of them! A bit of work, that made 1 1/2 qts of paste. I also made a quart of dried chili paste---all yummy and good for the tummy!

They are! I got into lacto-fermented foods at the start of last year---I make the salsa's in gallon jugs. I'll give a qt. to my Mexican neighbors across the street They are very good to me since the death of my husband. The guy is a gardener--he is the only one in the family that likes hot stuff. I make it not too hot so the family can have it also, but I make mine very hot. This time I make the red kraut in only a 2 qt jar. That stuff is particularly fantastic on hot dogs! But I am trying to go more and more vegetarian.
I didn't know how easy making all this stuff really is or how many foods you can do this with--down to even mayonnaise and ketchup. Doesn't seem to be anything that doesn't ferment well! It is supposed to be probiotic done like this.

I've never fermented anything, but it sound interesting. :)

I'm glad that you have people around you who have been helping since your bereavement mmksparbud. I can be very painful to lose someone, and I hope you are able to feel the Lord's comfort and blessing.

Thanks--I feel His comfort and blessings everyday!

Lacto fermenting is easy--salt and water, glass or ceramic jars and something to weight the stuff down to keep it under the water They take anywhere from 3 days to 6 weeks or more. Sauerkraut can take the longest, for the best results, but some only do them for a week or 2. My garlic paste is going on it's 5th week now. They are probiotic is why I got into it, after my colon cancer surgery, I need all the help I can get!

I'm glad you feel His presence mmksparbud. I'm sorry to hear about your cancer :prayer:, but hope that the lacto fermenting helps. Thanks for the information about it - it does sound quite easy to do. :)
