As I’ve said in Trump to declare national emergency.
Whilst Trump in the White House might constitute a National Emergency, the building of Trumps wall does not.

That is dangerous. Hitler declared a state of emergency when he came to power, That allowed him do do as he pleased and carry out all his atrocities.

Don’t worry he’s busy appointing as many right wing judges as possible to ensure he gets his way. And as for the Democrats being able to use declaring a national emergency to deal with climate change, do you really think the Supreme Court with what is likely to be by 2020/24 at least 3 Trump appointees will allow that to happen?

Time for a climate change and gun control national emergency.

Have you ever heard of poeing? It's assuming a position not your own.

Someone posted that one of the states will build their own wall. That is a great idea if the states can afford it. It seems the best idea that I have heard yet. But all would have to be in agreement as one hole defeats the purpose..

I don't think it constitutes a Godwin in this context because it's not merely rhetorical or for the purpose of hyperbole. What David Kent wrote is a statement of fact. Hitler exploited a foreigner's crime (a mentally disabled Dutch citizen setting fire to the Reichstag) as a justification to declare a state of emergency, and deftly used propaganda to convince the people doing so was an act of patriotism to their benefit even though it infringed upon individual rights.

Just more proof that the shutdown was a totally unnecessary as well as hurtful stunt that backfired for the President. He could have declared this "emergency" 2 months ago and avoided the shutdown altogether.
