Omar shows left's anti-Jewish turn

It was surprising that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, well aware of the political views of freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, placed her on the Foreign Affairs Committe. Certainly it seems that Mrs. Pelosi, master politician, realized which way the wind is blowing as far as Israel is concerned.

While the established elder leaders of the Democratic Party have been giving lip service in condemning the anti-Semitic ranting of Ms. Omar, most of the potential Democratic presidential candidates have not. With the new wave of radical-left Democrats running and winning offices, this does not bode well for the future of the Democratic Party or our nation.

I haven't done much research as to what this woman has said, so my question isn't about her specifically...

Is it possible to be critical of the action of a country's government without being critical of that country's majority faith?
i.e. Can one be critical of the US government's actions without being critical of Christianity?

It’s actually the ethnicity she targeted.

Money influence of Jewish people.

Right, but....AIPAC has nothing to do with Jews except aggressively supporting Israel. Most of its money, if I remember correctly, comes from American "evangelical" groups.

American Jews not part of AIPAC took offense.

Perhaps it was considered a “dog whistle” comment.

Perhaps the controversy was made up because the state of Israel != all Jews, and criticism of a PAC/Super PAC is not "anti-semitism".

So a Democratic congresswoman made statements that were condemned by both Republicans and Democrats, and this shows "the left's anti-Jewish turn"?

-CryptoLutheran
It did not come out of the mouth of a republican...…..if it had the left would have taken them outside and strung them up.....at least the republicans only expressed outrage.

Steve King doesn't seem to have been taken outside and strung up yet, or did that happen and I miss it?

Feel free....you have my blessings.....

I have no intention of defending a Democrat who makes anti-semitic remarks. Note that isn't what I did in my earlier post. My post was that Omar's remarks were condemned by both sides, as such the idea that "the left" is turning "anti-Jewish" doesn't hold water.

If Omar is incapable of representing all the residents of Minnesota, and if she has anti-semitic feelings and attitudes then she has no business being in office, then she should be ousted from office. Seems simple to me.

But let's not pretend that something that was condemned by "the left" represents "the left" being anti-semitic. Because that is incoherent nonsense.

I'll condemn racism, anti-semitism, and bigotry regardless of partisanship or politics. I'm equal opportunity when it comes to calling evil evil. My principles and morality are not subject to radical change simply because someone has an 'R' or a 'D' before their name.

Yeah I agree if she had said something anti-Semitic I would be one of the first to pile on her. But I don't see how her criticizing a lobbying group is her being Anti-Semitic. Of course I also don't buy into the idea that to criticize Israel at all is anti-Semitic, though i know most Zionists do.

Ahh yes another family squabble with the in-laws. You have to wonder why they marry into the family when they dislike a good portion of said family?

(70% of Jewish vote Democrat)
