Yep. It's pretty unfortunate that politics for the past few decades has been more about winning than about helping the people of our nation. Don't see that changing anytime soon.

Because the success of capitolism and freedom is against what they wish and desire. Our nation built upon these principles makes communists and socialists cringe (progressives are part of these groups, they just lack the gall to say as much).

I'm a progressive (or liberal, or whatever, people keep giving me new labels). I like both capitalism and freedom, but I recognize that capitalism isn't the best for all industries and that no freedom is unlimited. I can't, for example, endanger people with speech.

The women applauded the gains for women. Why should they show support for Donald trying to take credit for something he really had nothing to do with?

Don't just lump all this on your politicians. From what I observe, you all are every bit as bad. You perpetuate the partisanship bordering on enmity. Here, on a Christian site, I observe time after time, comments that are designed as a broadside to those from the US with an opposing political view. there's ZERO about this thread and YOUR comments that's about wanting a nation to come together. This is solely about throwing a metaphorical javelin.

I recall Trump saying "You weren't supposed to do this." Or something of that sort. It's because he, like some others one could name, don't understand irony. Unlike the general economy, which has largely continued the beneficial trend that was happening when Obama handed over the keys to Trump, Trump actually is responsible for there being so many women in Congress today. In opposition to him.

well the biggest thing that I kept thinking about is, all the stuff I would cheer and applaud for is.

This is trump, how much is he lying about how much is he stretching the truth about, and how many things that I am 100% for are things that don't have any real chance of happening because trumps own party is against.

plus a few oh *beep you* comments like, more natural gas and oil, yeah by allowing some of the worst methods to get oil from the enviorement, and as usual how much of that even goes to americans? And NOT something to brag about at a time we should be focusing on natural methods to get energy like wind and such.

ahhh yeah the other one that made me question the reality is more americans working now then ever before, which is true # wise, but % wise is down from before the recession, easy to lie through figures by making something sound impressive when actual reality shows it's not.

It would be silly to switch to suddenly liking Trump because he said some nice things in a speech.

Most everything we saw last night was just formalities. No one in that room actually likes each other but they still have to pretend they do.

No they sure as heck don't, the big question is did THEY do it or did someone else do it, probably more in his wheel house now, but trump taking credit for the first year for things caused by Obama and such or blaming one president for anothers failures. to get credit they actually have to have done something to get the credit, if the goverment does something inspite of trump thats not to his credit.
