• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

the bible never says that. One thing I have seen is that the bible puts a lot of emphasis on trusting God and believing. And practicing what the bible commands. putting your trust in God enough to follow what the bible teaches. doing what the bible commands. basically, obedience. But you have to trust God enough to be obedient to him. Because if you don't put your trust in God naturally you are not going to be obedient. Putting your trust in God is having faith in him. That you believe he is good and means well toward you. Being a doer of the word (james 1:22) is putting your faith in God enough to obey Him.
But not everything is about works. but about good works, which is basically just obedience. that's what I've learned from the bible. some one might disagree with me. But it's not always about actions, so don't worry or be discouraged. somethings are just our ways of thinking. like don't worry, don't judge our brother, don't envy, be angry. stuff like that.
I know I said a lot but I hope some helps. prayers!

Thank you for the nice post. I'm doing okay, I guess. I still feel bad about some things. I haven't been posting because I don't think anything will change no matter what I post. I don't want to bog down the forum with negative posts anymore. I keep thinking I've lost my salvation because of what I said to my friend about Jesus. Either that or I think that my sins are too bad to forgive.

Snow Tiger let me tell you a story I heard from one minister I thought was good.

He had a woman in his congregation who was feeling like you. She happened to be married to an unsaved man. The minister asked her, "Let me ask you something about you and your husband. Do you ever have any disagreements or fights, not physical mind you but just an argument where you need to forgive each other?"

She replied "Oh yes many a times."

The minister then asked, "Do you forgive each other and put it behind you and make up?"

"Most certainly," she replied. "There's been many times where I've asked him to forgive me and he has asked me to do the same."

"Well," the minister asked, "Do you ever walk away wondering if he really did? Do you ever think maybe he didn't mean it and wasn't sincere?"

"Of course not!" she replied. "He's basically a good man with integrity and if he said he forgave me then I never give it a second thought."

He responded, "Well you know what you're telling me then? You're telling me you have more faith in an unsaved husband than you do in God! You know God is of a good character, you know that he is gracious, kind and merciful. You know Jesus really has more love towards you than any human being ever could have, (see below)

So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things...." <----or you know we could say how much more loving is God than human beings who tend to be evil...or how much more will God forgive as compared to people) Matt 7:11

And yet when your earthly unsaved husband says he'll forgive you have no problem with that! Well her face lit up and tears came to her eyes and she exclaimed, "PRAISE God! Jesus is good, loving, gracious and kind and he doesn't lie! If he said he's faithful and just if we confess our sins to forgive us and cleanse us than thank God he did and does!" She went away rejoicing never doubting God's mercy and goodness again. :ebil:

All day long I hear a voice mocking me. I'm worried that I lost my salvation (or maybe I never had it). How can I know if I am saved? I keep thinking I'm going to hell no matter what anyone says. I keep feeling like my sins are too great. The voice says I will die in a horrible way too, and that's how I know I'm going to hell. All day long the voice laughs at me. The voice in my head has told me how and when I'm going to die. The voice says he knows the future and he knows when and how I will die. I'm really scared because I believe it is true.
Did you have a judgmental & critical parent?

I feel like I'm going to hell every day all day long. The voices in my head say terrible things will happen to me too. I don't think there is any way out.

One of the voices in my head tells me what to do. He says that if I do what he tells me then there is a way out, but that is the only way.

I'm miserable all day long because of what the voices say.

One of the voices in my head tells me what to do.

1) Make sure you've asked Jesus into your heart

2) Saturate youself day and night with the word of God. Not saying you do but instead of watching television a few hours each day feed your spirit with the word of God. I don't mean that as an insult but so many, many people which talk about similar stories like yours I ask them how much time do you give God each day and they say 5-10 minutes. And TV or worldly entertainment? 3 to 4 hours!

Keep in mind feeding one's spirit with the word isn't just carrying out a religious check list it actually imparts God's life and light into your spirit which can drive darkness out.

3) As a part of the time you give to God/spiritual things like reading the word make sure praise and worship with God is a part of that. God inhabitants the praises of his people that means he presence becomes manifest from their spirit. Enemy forces, are terrified to have God's presence near them.

4) Now you're ready to address the issue you spoke of, "One of the voices in my head tells me what to do." Now you start telling him what to do in Jesus Name! Begin to declare many times all throughout your day who and what you are In Christ Jesus, YES regardless as to whether you feel like you are those things or not. I can actually give you copy of about 7 paragraphs of declarations based from the word of who and what you are in Christ Jesus but keep in mind it wouldn't do you any good unless you do them. It's called swinging the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Every single one of us have this same similar battle we must fight and make a stand for.

I want you to know I was in a similar place as you about 30 years ago. Yes hearing voices the whole deal but I arose to the place of embracing the freedom for me that God had already provided. And that's my last thing....Of course you're thinking God has to set you free. You know the reality is it's better than that for you! Jesus has ALREADY DEFEATED for you that enemy force which hounds you. It's really just a matter of appropriating what's already been accomplished for you In Christ!

Maybe I will try to read the Bible more. I just get down all the time and don't think anything will help. The devil laughs at me all day long. I worry that he has won this fight.

Maybe? (and keep in mind it's not just reading the Bible but praise and worship and boldly continually declaring who and what you are in Christ Jesus) but you say, "Maybe" you'll seek to do these things? Maybe? If you were a soldier in a war and the battle was on would you say, "Well maybe I'll grab my sword and start using it. Or maybe I'll take hold of my shield?"

If you're insinuating well you just might not do it than are you really wanting Christian help and counsel.

There is no such things as a magic pill or magic wand to change these things. It takes energy on all of our parts and a bull dog determination that certain things will be.

The devil laughs at me all day long. I worry that he has won this fight.

Well then I guess the REAL question is who are you going to believe MORE? God or the devil?

If someone approached you and said, "You mother is nothing but a lying good for nothing scoundrel!" would you say, "Well yeah...must be if you say so." ???????

Isn't that really what you're doing towards God? If God said which he did all the many great things of willing to restore you and strengthen you and someone else (Satan) proven to be a liar wants tell tell you something well who are you siding in with?

My friend you can't say you're somewhat accepting of the devil's words but you're not rejecting God. If you won't choose to lock into what God said and hold fast to it not turning the right or the left than you're saying the devil is more trustworthy than God!

So I guess it gets back to the old question who do you choose this day to serve? Forget about all the days of the past I'm talking about THIS DAY. Who will it be? I'm confident you want it to be God so let it be and FORCE your thought life to be in subjection to what God says not what he enemy would tell you.

Okay, I will do better. I've decided to try to read the whole New Testament from the beginning. Hopefully, I will make it through.

I keep worrying that I committed the unforgivable sin by saying to my friend that Jesus died for selfish purposes. A magical sign appeared on my hand saying bad things after I said those words. So I'm afraid that I lost my salvation.

Until I said those words I feel like God was trying to save me. But after those words I feel like God has given up on me.

You will never be assured by head knowledge. Only by experience with getting to know the Lord and seeking Him. He will give you your answers as you seek him. So keep praying everyday, Lord I want to be assured that I am saved. Then Leave that request with Him and seek Him. Get to know Him.

I think you might like some videos online at I'llBeHonest.com that might help. Go to Topics and click on Assurance. There was something Bob Jennings (whose sermons I highly reccomend, you can download them on the same website) said about assurance. Theres 3 Ws, different ways to be assured of salvation. Word, Walk, Witness. First its take God at His word, for example John 3:16. Then its assurance in your walk with the Lord, meaning by getting to know Him as you follow Him. Then theres the witness of the Holy Spirit where the Holy Spirit reveals it to you in a special way through personal intimacy with Him. But you can watch the video he explains it more in detail. I thought you might find it helpful. Theres several different videos on the same subject by different pastors. Honestly, I still struggle with the subject myself, but honestly as I keep reading the bible, I am leaning more toward the conviction that we cannot lose our salvation just because of so many verses that seem to prove that. Try reading the bible with the motivation of being on a search for the truth. That has helped me. And read books (especially in the New Testament) that you dont read as often. Because Ive noticed sometimes Ill ignore certain books of the bible I feel like "oh, I already know what that books about..." I truly want you to get a breakthrough about this cuz if the only reason you are not seeking desperately is because youre discouraged thats not a good enough reason to keep suffering! I dont say that to be harsh, but if sin is not your problem then theres no reason you should go on in such anxiety and suffering. Just my sincere, concerned opi ion.

I didn't say anything directly about the Holy Spirit. But I also read about Ananias in the Bible and they said he committed it by lying about how much money he had. So how can you know?

Well hold it now ST. I'm not sure you can make an argument that Ananias and Sapphira didn't make heaven their home because they were judged. They lied to the Spirit true but the blasphemy of the Spirit had to do with continually resisting the Spirit and his work to the point where one would never even want God anymore. In other words they fought the Spirit to their dying day. I don't believe this is something like an act of a sin taking place on one particular day. Ananias and Sapphira were judged but it could have been this way ????

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 1 Cor 11:27,32

There you see it even states that God may judge Christians and they may even die BUT....such doesn't mean they don't make heaven their home. He said some are judged ....that they should not be condemned with the world. That still speaks of salvation. I can't say for sure that God received A&S for salvation but from scripture I don't see why it couldn't mean that.

True. I'm not sure what happened to Ananias and Sapphira. I've been trying to believe I can still be forgiven because many people have heard what I said and have told me that I can still be forgiven. I'm trying to believe that if I repent then I can be forgiven if I believe in Jesus. I want to be forgiven, so I'm going to keep hoping for that.

Hi Snow Tiger,

I believe I've shared a few times with you to encourage you and others too but that's OK. Sometimes we all need reassurance and some help continually. Let me try this with you and I ask you to give this some serious thought. You know I feel in my heart you most certainly are sincere in wanting to serve God and be and stay in relationship with him. So you ask how can you know if you've committed the blasphemy of the Spirit.

Well consider to whom Jesus spoke this statement to. People who hated God, that is they hated Jesus with a passion and connected with that would be they'd despise the Spirit for he's the one who works to bring people to God, The Father and Jesus. But here I think the good news for you! You don't come across as someone who hates God and I don't believe you ever have. You don't come across as one who'd do anything they could to stop his gospel from going forth. That's what those people were like. You know what you strike me as?

A dear Saint of God who yes maybe like all of us have made some mistakes or sins or had various failures but you look up to Heaven to Jesus with tears longing for his grace. My friend you're not deemed an enemy of the cross for your heart longs, loves and appreciates Jesus but you're just wondering if his precious blood can blot out your sins! YES! And may I be so bold as to say to you God wants you to know that.

It's the devil who wants to hold over you a cloud of condemnation but Jesus has restoration for you. I'd get out all the verses about the precious blood of Jesus and what it does in relation to our sins in making us righteous again in his sight and continually shout of for joy that he's provided them for you! I like the one from Isaiah 1:18 though your sins be as scarlet I'll make them white as snow thought they be red like crimson he'll make them white as wool. Take hold of truths like that and just know that God is on your side and know nothing can separate you from his Love. Romans 8:38 God Bless!
