That is what black people lived with every day, to a much larger extent. They were far more likely to be assaulted or bullied than a teen today. I don’t see a lot of violence today, to answer your question. I feel generally safe as do most people I know.
Do you truly think that is a valid comparison to the problems that youth today have with becoming victims of violence?
Maybe you could support your view if you provide a list of those things that make it safer for Teens and children today in contrast to 1954. Consider drug overdose, gun violence, and suicide rates

Let me see if I get your point. Black kids would rather be forbidden from using public facilities, forbidden from enrolling in most colleges and universities, be paid less for doing the same jobs as Whites, be subject to abuse, up to and including death for interacting with White women....????
You seem to be totally consumed with the race issue, we are talking about teens and children here and the dangers they face today. There is no comparison.
That's because in "The Good Old Days" race was a serious issue. If you are going to compare those times with ours you have to take it into account. But if you don't want to talk about race, let's consider gender issues and how that plays into the comparison.
Do you think there has been any time in history where more black kids have experienced violent death than what they are experiencing today? That hardly equates to the problems you have listed. So how serious are you? How about a little compassion for what these kids are facing everyday through no fault of their own.
I dont know about the cold hard odds but I do know that this is preventable and it reflects very poorly on our society that we are willing to accept it.
