A desire to find friends, or just someone to talk to.

I hear you. Been there, done that. I grew up in a small town where there were maybe a half-dozen "misfits" who were the interesting people in town. I'm still a nerd, but I moved out of there.

I have had the good fortune to have a loving wife and family, and to visit a variety of places. I am always interested in hearing "the rest of the story", as Paul Harvey used to say. Some chit-chat and trivia is good on the forums, provided it is _not_ trivial when properly understood. We can always go to ground if details get too personal to share here.

I'm somewhat isolated these days, but that doesn't limit the range of my thinking any. I like Sci-fi, computers, and generally understanding what happened and why, dealing with machines and things. I love history too, having risen above my distaste for the bland fare handed out in primary and secondary school.

People issues and politics are unfortunately way too complex for me to handle well. I like the music I grew up with in the late 50's and early 60's, not because of its quality but as nostalgia. I remember talking with one guy who grew up during the big band era, and some of the jazz I played because it was good was also nostalgic for him. I thought that would have been fantastic to grow up with the good stuff.

We are meant to fellowship with one another. Praying that you can be in a church body of believers and find some people who you can connect with in person and enjoy life with while serving the Lord with joy.
