• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

What you are describing is a common problem we all have to some extent. Faith just isn't automatic. Well, let me rephrase that. Faith can be as natural as it is to a child. But increasing in faith doesn't come automatically. It takes effort.

Be patient and don't give up. Remember, we wage the good fight of faith from, more than to, a position of victory. The manifest victory comes later, but we have victory in the spirit already, because Christ has already won it for us. That should be our attitude, and that is the faith that overcomes.

You are right - faith is central to the victory. 1Jn says, "herein lies the victory with which we have overcome the world - even our faith". So often we want God to act, and when He doesn't we begin to question. We all do this. But He has given us His word and expects us to use it. He is waiting for us to come up to the standard of being faithful to what we already know.

BTW, about these voices knowing things. Give him a measure of respect - the devil is skilled at what he does - which is deceive. He's been around a long time and is a keen people observer. It stands to reason he can predict some things accurately, and the Bible warns that there will be false signs and wonders at times. This does not mean these voices are telling you the truth. It means they might be able to predict or manipulate a small thing or two, and then are masterfully leveraging that to deceive you into believing they know everything and are telling you the truth. They don't, and they most certainly are lying. It's a con game. The devil did the same exact thing in the Garden, when he mixed a little bit of truth with a whole lot of lie, and tricked Eve into sinning. He hasn't changed tactics because it's really all he has, and sadly it works quite well for him much of the time. Resolve that you are not going to allow it to work with you. You are better than that, and the Lord loves you too much for that.

Snowtiger...let me talk to you. Many years ago I went through the same thing you describe. Hearing voices but let's put it down straight here....it's a demon oppression BUT let me tell you the way to attain victory over them is not so very hard and as far away as you might think. One key thing I learned in coming out of that type of thing is to understand there's a difference between just mentally assenting to Christian beliefs as compared to the walking in spiritual strength which we develop within us.

The Bible says "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might" and someone says YES but I'm not strong....YES he would say I know you're not strong BUT....BE STRONG, that is develop strength into your spirit that is with God's word, praise and worship NOT just a few minutes on say Sunday but one or two hours a day if need be. So many things could be said but praising and worshiping God, singing to him with thanksgiving here's one thing that'll happen.

You'll have the prescience of God begin manifesting in your life. I'd encourage you as well to find all the many things the Bible says you are IN CHRIST Jesus and boldly declare them continually and I think you'll find manifested victory will begin to be yours. Victory is yours now In Christ Jesus as far as your inheritance goes but when I say yours I'm meaning where you actually feel it and know it be experience. All strength to you my friend.

I hope that the signs I was given were from the devil. I received numerous miraculous signs that I'm going to hell. A lot of time I think about these signs and get very depressed/despondent. These signs all spoke about my sins and how they are unforgivable. One sign I got was when I was looking at my pants. I saw a picture on my pants of Jesus with the words "Have a very merry hell" next to it. I got signs like that. So I worry a lot about these signs. I guess if they are negative that means they are from the devil? Thanks.

I keep praying that God will give me opposite signs to cancel out these negative signs, but I don't think it will happen.

The signs run diametrically counter to the truth of God's word. The Bible says that the Father does not desire that any should perish. Saying the sins of a repentant person are unforgivable is an insult to the spirit of grace. That is because Christ paid a supernaturally high price to redeem us, but the lie says the sins of this realm are more powerful than His mighty redemption.

The more you understand these basic truths about our salvation, the freer you will become. You will hear the lie and know it is a lie. It will just smell "off". It will roll off you like water off a duck's back. This is why Paul tells us in Ephesians 6 to put on the full armor of God. The first thing to go on is the helmet of salvation. It protects our minds. Once we know we're secure in Jesus, the lies of this world cannot move us. The devil's game plan is to trick us into hurting ourselves with wrong thinking. Proverbs says to guard our hearts, for out of the heart come the issues of life. And then we take up the shield of faith, which quenches the fiery darts of the evil one.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, 1Cor tells us twice. We should honor that by not allowing any defilement to enter, and when we find some, to clean it out. It's a process, so I don't say that by way of performance or condemnation. But it's something we need to be actively doing so we can progress in our salvation.

Lord, I think you for SnowTiger. I know you love him greatly, as do we here. I pray, Father, that by your grace he may know the truth and the truth would set him free. Open the eyes of his heart and reveal to him the riches of his inheritance in the saints (Eph. 1). Show him his great worth in Your eyes, a value that drove Christ to the cross. Strengthen and deliver him so that he in turn can bring many to the glorious liberty of the sons of God. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all others.

I want to be saved, and I know that salvation comes through faith.

I think the devil really is out to get me. I've heard the devil's voice in my head since I was a little child. He was mocking me even when I was 5 years old in Kindergarten.

He really hates me in particular. I hope all these negative signs and miracles I've been given are from the devil and not God.

Well Tiger it looks like you're going to have to make a decision. When God says Jesus is faithful and just to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness are you going to believe what he says? 1 Jn 1:9 You keep speaking about what your signs have spoken to you. Here's something you should let speak to you in a more stronger way,

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. Heb 12:24

What have you done?” replied the LORD. “The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. Gen 4:11

I've often liked to think of it this way. Our sin has a voice. It can be heard in the spirit realm. Abel's blood cried out. God could hear it. God hears the voice of our sin HOWEVER when we declare the blood of Jesus over our lives and do it boldly Heb 4:16 with thanksgiving to God the voice of the blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel. I like to envision as we confess our sins the blood of Jesus drowns out the voice of our sin and God only hears and sees righteousness that is the righteousness of Jesus.

One sign I got was when I was looking at my pants. I saw a picture on my pants of Jesus with the words "Have a very merry hell" next to it. I got signs like that. So I worry a lot about these signs. I guess if they are negative that means they are from the devil?

Do you actually believe God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit or the Father would even address such a serious issue of hell and make it into a crazy, joke type thing like referring to a "merry hell". If something like that happened to you it was either a coincidence two things were lined up side by side OR it was the devil. Don't worry what the devil says to you!

He's the one who should be concerned what you're going to say to him.....as in declare the precious blood of Jesus over your life continually and declaring your freedom IN CHRIST and not backing down from it one inch. Will you make a decision to start declaring Greater is he that is in you than he (the devil) that is in the world? 1 Jn 4:4

I hope all these negative signs and miracles I've been given are from the devil and not God.
God doesn't talk the way the voices have. He doesn't need to play games. I've heard God's voice many times, and never has it sounded like that. There are other voices in the world (1Jn 4.1), so we have to be careful about what we lend credence to.

If God didn't walk away from me when He could have, and from my perspective had every right to, He won't desert you either. There are so many promises in the Word - I will never leave nor forsake you, etc. - that point to the faithfulness of God. He really wants you to believe in His goodness. Consider:

But without faith [it is] impossible to please [Him], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and [that] He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. -Heb 11.6

God wants you to believe in His good intentions for you. Why? Because that draws you into relationship with Him, and it elevates you above the muck and mire of this world. Take a look at Romans 8, about there being no condemnation, about our adoptions as sons, and about nothing being able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus:

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage leading again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." -Rom 8.15

Jesus wants you to experience His perfect love on a continual basis. He wants you to be free and to become a warrior for the love of Christ. He really cares about you. The voices are lying.

Sorry I'm not quite sure how to quote messages I just wanted to respond... I hope this doesn't offend you but I wanted you to ask yourself if you have any unrepentant sin in your life? Or disobedience of any sort where you're not doing what the Lord has shown you need to do in order that it be well between you and him?is there something between you and God? Are you violating your conscience in anway? This is really important.you do nt have to tell me about it or post anything about it in the forums, but Read Acts 24:16. If there is something on your conscience you need to do something about that before God can help you. Truly help you, like start the healing process for your mind and soul. Pray about it even if you don't feel God can hear you, lay it out before Him. Be honest. Then whether he does or does not answer you, do whatever it takes to clear things between you and God. Even if it seems God isn't there. God just wants you to show your faith that you trust Him to make things better after you have done everything according to His will.
Once you do that, pray everyday on your knees, and make a list of what your requests are. Pray them everyday. Ask for prayer from Christians from church or others you know in person, not just on Christian Forums. So they can check in with you. Read the bible as much as you can. Look forward to getting better.
This is what helped me get better in the past. I will be praying for you.

I have repented of my sin. I haven't done anything really bad in a long time. I still commit minor sins every day, but nothing really bad. Is that what you mean by keeping things right with God? There are some sins that I never talk about with anyone. I'm not a Catholic, so I don't believe that we have to confess every sin.

sorry I didn't get back to your last post. the best thing you can do is listen to your conscience and pray. and read the bible. and get constant prayer from others Christians.
I would suggest reading John 3:18. And Romans 8:1 We as believers are not condemned. You will not go to hell. the bible says we've past from death to life (John 5:24). I also read 1 thessalonians today and it struck me that it says in chapter 3 verse 13 that Jesus will come back with ALL his saints. So all his saints will be with him that includes us.
Hope that helps. Keep reading Gods word. It is the truth.

Thank you for the nice post. I'm doing okay, I guess. I still feel bad about some things. I haven't been posting because I don't think anything will change no matter what I post. I don't want to bog down the forum with negative posts anymore. I keep thinking I've lost my salvation because of what I said to my friend about Jesus. Either that or I think that my sins are too bad to forgive.

I go to church every weekend though and sometimes I sing in the choir. Jesus is a part of my life, for better or worse. I like listening to Christian music when I do my work. I hope that someday I will stop believing I'm going to hell.

I'm glad you are active in fellowship.
I kind of have the same problem where no one can help but God. No person has helped me though I've spoken to many people about my problem and some pastors. But I need to get into a good church which is something I have not taken seriously lately though I've been saved for a little over ten years. The best thing that can help is reading the bible. And especially parts of the bible that you have never read before. I know I have mentioned it before, but it helped me in the past when no one could help. I wish there was a way I can help because I've felt the same way, that it's useless. But in my greatest trial I kept praying crying out. I came out of months of being off meds and my mind was real bad. But I came back to reality when I started reading the bible again. And I kept reading everyday as often as I would get panic attacks I would pull out the bible and read. in about 4 months I was much better. I was all better I would say as much as I could be at the time and more than I've ever been as a christian. but I got back into some sin and things go t bad again. But I truly believe that if you are sincere about keeping your self from sin and you cry out and seek god he will help you. no matter what. even if you don't believe he will. I can speak that very confidently cuz he helped me during that trial and i can remember I kept saying "he would have helped me by now!!!" to others. but he did. what comes to mind right now is hebrews, 11:6 he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. you should keep posting. even just to give an encouraging update. if you have a revelation during reading or prayer. something that will help someone else.

Sorry, i just want to make clear. Getting back on meds helped me but for the things meds dnt or can't help the bible can help. Prayers!

I guess I should read the bible more. The thing is, I always concentrate on the negative parts. Like Jesus says that there are lambs and goats and wheat and chaff. I keep thinking I'm one of the goats or the chaff. I just think I'm no good and I did too much wrong. The bible is clear in saying that some people just aren't good enough. So I don't get too much comfort from the bible.

I also remember the story of Ananias. He was struck down for blaspheming against the holy spirit. I feel like I also blasphemed against the holy spirit just like he did.

But I think you are right. I should read the bible more. I don't read too often. I mostly studied it in a group with other people at school. I just tend to focus more on the negative things in the bible.

hey well I just wanted to say sorry I didn't pay enough attention to everything you said in your last post. about how you felt your sins are too bad to forgive. No one's sins are too bad to forgive including unbelievers. being born again wipes away all sin, and as a believer 1 john 1:9 says god is faithful and just to forgive our sins when we confess. but I'd like to add that sometimes God calls us to make things right with other people if we have sinned against them. if we don't do that, that can be the sin of omission. that means we fail to do something we know is right. so that can get in the way sometimes. but I don't mean to discourage you, I just want you to know sometimes that can give us a lingering feeling of sinfulness until we do it. it's a part of growing in the Lord. like for example, say you stole something from someone. it wouldn't be right just to confess to the lord, but to make things right with the person your stole from. that's a good example.
Also I think you would benefit from learning more about God because it seems, from what I have read from your posts, that you believe some things that are not true about God. that's why I posted Job 36:5. You've said before you think God hates you, but this verse says god despises no one. And another verse that comes to mind right now is in psalm 139. psalm 139:17, 18 God's thoughts are precious toward us. that doesn't sound like he hates his children. simple verses like that can help you think accurately about God.
And don't be sad or frustrated if you don't feel assurance of salvation. I'm not here to say I definitely know you are saved. I struggle with that too. But I think assurance comes when we are living right and have a satisfying relationship with God. A thriving relationship, when we are receiving his favor and his presence and love in prayer and in the word. you will recognize it when it is happening. I can see why it must be hard for you because many people disagree on whether or not we can lose our salvation. So it's not something light, that someone can just convince you of. I believe it's something only God can give when we seek him and grow in him by getting to know him.
So dont feel alone, because take the parable of the sheep and the goats you mentioned. many people disagree as to the interpretation of this parable. it's just one of those verses where no one really knows but you have to be convinced by God only in your studying the bible. But I have to disagree with you when you say that the bible is clear in saying some people are not good enough.
