What happened when hundreds of students at the University of Notre Dame asked their university to ban access to inappropriate content on campus? Nothing.

But when the radical Left demanded that twelve historic 17th century murals of Christopher Columbus be removed from the Main Building, Notre Dame president Fr. John Jenkins freely yielded.

Yes, Columbus will be censored by the campus. But not inappropriate content access.

Tell the University of Notre Dame to Ban inappropriate content, Not Murals of Christopher Columbus

...one is an attack on free speech and the other is a decision the University leadership is making. Apples to oranges. If those students don't want to watch inappropriate content then they shouldn't watch it, it's not theirs (or the universities either) job/right to decide for others what they can or can't watch. Trying to tie the two subjects together is simply another case of tu quoque.
tulc(wonders who's teaching those students logic?) :sorry:

Thanks for posting. I'm tired of this constant revising of history with a slant that backs ideologies, not truth. Notre Dame has had a lot of problems under Fr. Jenkins.

I am not surprised by such things, for it is the world we live in.

The article didn't say why they wanted them removed. The one in the article showed CC and son with Catholic Monks, why would that be offensive to anyone?

Fr. Jenkins knows his priorities and isn't going to be pushed into anything he doesn't want to do.

I've actually emailed the guy asking questions concerning these issues. You might as well bang your head against a wall.

And he is the guy leading what some have considered the flagship Catholic University in America. Leading that flagship right into the rocks. This kind of evil can only be expelled with prayer and fasting.

He does not have a lot of fans in South Bend. He comes off as very arrogant.

I can see the logic of not banning it. Doing so provides a crutch and that isn't the reality they'll live in. Developing an ability to deny the flesh with God's help is preferable. I've heard numerous testimonies from men at Christian colleges acknowledging their addiction. Some were using it the entire time and entered ministries and relationships continuing the practice.

I am not sanctioning this but there's got to be a better way of addressing sex within the church. The is the elephant in the room that many hide.

Covering up the murals betrays the heritage of Catholic immigrants. "This decision by Notre Dame is impious. It shows no respect for our ancestors and our history, but throws them under the bus of political expendency."
