If it does not matter, why would human, in particular, man, soldiers want to cut the hair short? Why would the evolution process want to make this trouble?

Soldiers like short hair so that an enemy can't grab it and cut their head off.

<Comment from the peanut gallery>:
Nowadays, male soldiers don't have a choice in hair style when it comes to length of hair (in the US, anyway). They cut it short because they're told to. Female soldiers must keep their hair cut above the lower edge of the collar, or put it up in some kind of bun.

Look at a hair on your arm. Do you think that hair is aware it is an extension of it's creator flesh?
I dont think hairs are aware of anything.

So... what does that teach us?

Hairs don't have awareness, full stop.
Awareness requires a brain or alike.

It's like asking "what does yellow taste like?".
The question is invalid.

Of course; I was speaking historically, when swords were the predominant weapons.

I thought barbarian came from the Greeks and referred to anyone who wasn't a Greek?

It gets confusing. But yes, Greeks had 'bábaros' meaning 'foreign, ignorant' and even 'unable to speak intelligently.' The Sanskrit 'barbaras' meant 'stammering.' Latin had 'barba' meaning beard; and barber (from medieval Latin 'barbãtor' originally a 'beard trimmer.' [from J. Ayto "Bloosbury Dictionary of Wrod Origins," 1990.] So pardon my confusion as to how barbarian came to us. English is "officially" a germanic language, but it has been heavily influenced by both greek, and Latin - often through French.

Readers might like Shaving, Romans and Facial Hair – Lucius'€™ Romans .

As to technology, I don't know much about Roman barbers, but Romans certainly had metal - especially as in swords and spears and knives, so they could also sharpen metal. They weren't reduced to using flint.

Ah interesting.
I do remember seeing a thing online (somewhere, can't remember where) about how beards kind of dipped in and out of fashion in Rome, just like in any period in history, because one of the Emperor's had one.

If I can step in again: razor.

I can't imagine it would have been any worse than modern shaving with a straight razor. Steady hand and not too much pressure is all you need to avoid the worst of the nicks.

You do not have to imagine. Obsidian with sharp edges is commonly available today. With that, you can do a shaving experiment on yourself.

Good luck.

Warmth? (although body hair does it better)

Sunlight protection? (although skin pigment does it better)

Chasing away flies? (horses and cows do this with their tails)

Yes. But it does not take a long hair to do all those.

I believe God creates every (original) part (i.e. natural, un-cut hair) of our body with a good purpose. That means, long hair must have some special advantage. Unfortunately, live in the modern society, I am still trying to figure out what that is.

Yes. Thanks.
The purpose of this thread is to thrown a bomb to evolutionist. So far, no evolutionist even dare to face this question.

It's less throwing a bomb and more throwing a pillow at an indifferent wall

Because the question is irrelevant. You're looking for a "win" on this when there's not even an opposing team that wants to play your game.

Didn't work - they love the question and this thread for the attention they get, and so on.

If so then, which soldiers like long hair ?

:)

I assume that soldiers who like long hair have never been in combat where it would be a problem, and do not believe the advice of others concerning the risk they are taking.

Of course, military protocol affects hair length more than personal preference, as previously mentioned.

I know several women who have survived violent assaults, and now refuse to grow their hair long. They don't want to risk "having it used as a weapon against them".

Soldiers who like long hair are the soldiers who like long hair on their opponents !!!

If you're serious, that is a moot point. There is no need in modern day warfare for soldiers to really care about the length of their opponent's hair.

They don't give a crap about stuff like that.
