Hi all,

I have been spending my morning watching videos about homelessness in LA.
It was very interesting and the stories were varied.
It occurred to me that the people who would like to help are least able to help...ie.Christians like myself.
The problem is enormous and complicated and so much money is needed.
My question is ,and I ask this respectfully without any irreverence, why is this the case?
Why is it so often the case that the people who most want to help the least able to do something about it?
I geuss we can still pray.
But how do we become prayer warriors is my second question.

These are honest and heartfelt questions.I value constructive feedback from sincere people.

Thanks in advance!

Why do you feel you can’t help? If you feel called to this issue there are certainly ways to help. You could even choose it as your life’s work.

I think those who have money get caught up trying to keep that money or have it make more money for them..

Being a prayer warrior is being in prayer with God often.. and most importantly know he will answer .+ Though not necessarily when and how we want him to

True charity is a matter of the heart.

2 Corinthians 8:12
If the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.

John Gil's Commentary:
"For if there be first a willing mind,.... If what is done springs from a truly noble, generous spirit, a spirit of bountifulness and liberality; and is given cheerfully and freely, and according to a man's ability; the quantity matters not, whether it be more or less:

it is accepted; both of God and man:

according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. The widow's mite was as acceptable, and more so, than all the rich men cast into the treasury; a cup of cold water given to a prophet, in the name of a prophet, is taken notice of by God, and shall have its reward. The present sent by the Philippians to the Apostle Paul, and which perhaps was not very large, was "an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God", Philippians 4:18."

I have reasons why I can't do that which I won't share here with strangers.I geuss the best route is prayer.

Ok, no problem. I don’t know your situation, but it seems you are able to read, watch videos, and type. There is a need for all kinds of help in social services. If that is where your heart is, pray for the right opportunity.

Well, the help that the "homeless" (I like to say "houseless", because we can be home without possessions) truly need does not involve money. In fact, that whole money system is a large part of houselessness. You could be a very great force by seeking them on the street and praying for them there!

Maybe you can do more than you think. How about working in a food bank or as some other type of volunteer position? You may be short on cash but your time and talents are valuable.

Together as a church we can do much more.

How is your local church helping? If they have a ministry you could join it and help with church resources.

If you don’t have a church you attend, then this might just be your calling to join one.

I don't know that to be true.

I see interviews with very wealthy people who seem like they sincerely want to help.
I see interviews with politicians who seem like they sincerely want to help.

The problem is enormous and complicated and so much money is needed.

It doesn't seem complicated to me at all.
People without a place to live need a place to live. That's very simple.

I see so much money wasted on useless things in this country.
The money needed to put a roof over everyone's head is clearly available.

I guess we can still pray.

We should never stop praying. But I think we should do more.

I don't know if you can see the parallel, here, but my parents have been criticized for having many children when they lived in poverty. They never depended on the government, never begged, and all of us children grew up well behaved, loving the Lord, loving each other, and in no bitterness over our "poor" upbringing. We grew up in a rich and satisfying life.

This I am comparing to your claim that those who care don't have the means to make a difference. I disagree. Start with just one person, if you have to. (But yes, be wise. Because some of these homeless are working the system).

There have been times where I would rather have been homeless than to face the responsibilities I had to live up to. But when I had no money, and paid my employees more than I paid myself, I was still able to stay in business and to employ several people needing jobs. I did not listen to those who said to make the business first.

Thanks.I know what being a prayer warrior is but how can I be one when prayer is so hard?

Just Invision it as a conversation you would have to another person

Or you can try journaling . Growing up I had prayer joirnals where I could pour my heart put pu Him. Later on I would go back thru and read some...would make notes of how the prayer was answered or how whatever was troubling me was resolved or changed...

I need to get back to it...
