Why are most shooters men?

The Us had additional mass shootings over the past few days. Three innocent people were shot and killed in State College, Pennsylvania; a forth remains in the hospital. That shooter later killed himself. Five women were gunned down in a Florida bank; that shooter is in police custody. The most recent in Louisiana resulted in five deaths; that shooter is still at large.

The one thing that connects all these shootings is that the killer was male. In fact, men have been responsible for almost all mass shootings.

What is wrong here? What are we teaching (or not teaching) our sons that we are apparently teaching (or not teaching) our daughters? More importantly, how do we stop this?

At least two of these shootings involved girlfriends/ex-girlfriends. Again, what are we teaching our young men that apparently makes them think that they have an ownership interest in their girlfriend/ex-girlfriend?

I would ask why we make guns, particularly semi-automatic guns, so readily available in our nation but I know where those discussions go, so please keep away from that issue.
Testosterone.

What is wrong here?

Our education system and universities are teaching nihilism.
They ethos is nothing has purpose or meaning.
Take such ideas to their logical conclusion, murdering people is no more worse than helping them because there is no real morality or meaning in compassion or care.

Paranoia of the state and the armed nutcases means guns can be bought by upset teenagers.

One mass shooting was sparked by a mother who put semi-automatics in her house to stop the great collapse of society. But her son who felt unloved and cared for, took these guns and murdered kids in their local school. It is this emotional dislocation, and arming the upset individual that is creating the cycle of violence and paranoia that feeds the cycle. You have to stop the arming to stop the murder.

How often do our emotions express themselves in killing that guy who cut us up on the road? I have those feelings, because the express my fight and flight reaction to negligence and real danger. But to arm me and put me with that guy, I might go miles too far.

Teaching people about the flow of emotions, how to love and go beyond the immediate feelings to real understanding and empathy is missing. Even in our churches often such conversations do not happen, but they should be going on as part of discipleship.

A commentator who does research into these situations Jordan Peterson said something profound.
It is not that more men attempt suicide than women, but men when they attempt suicide are better at it and have the real intention to die, and women tend to fail at the mechanics.
On this basis there is no difference between the sexes other than in ability to succeed.

That's not quite correct. Many suicide attempts are a desperate cry for help, where the person does not truly intend to kill themselves (of course, if you ignore the cry for help, they may kill themselves later). There's a standard method psychologists use to determine whether somebody really intended to kill themselves.

Men are more likely to intend to kill themselves. This is well established in the literature.

Female hormones promote social bonding. Not so with males.

I think you have something there but it’s also true with a persons mental status most people that do a lot of the killings have some sort of disorder, it’s noticing the disorder before hand is the key and then doing something about it; been reading about how emotions play a major role

I kinda got this feeling (belief) that if you weren't insane before killing someone you will be after. But that's just a theory of mine. Kinda like crossing the line of sanity. Even for the military killers it's sketchy: Experts - The Impact Of Killing & How To Prepare The Soldier | The Soldier's Heart | FRONTLINE | PBS

"When you personally take another life and you go up to that lifeless body with a hole in it and you look down on it, and you say, "I did that," I think it is a loss of yourself at the same time. And I think that [once] they understand that, they can't go back again. They can't say that it didn't happen, or [that] maybe somebody else did it."

Perhaps we can just assume these killers are insane.

Men tend to express their anger in a physical way.
Women tend to express their anger in a psychological way.

Why is this sooooo true!? Is it the way men are wired or does it come from our back ground in survival

It's not just shootings men tend to commit more crime in general whether it's child inappropriate contentography or robbery. I think its because of all the violent video games men play. Notice most women don't play violent video games or anything.

Research shows that gaming doesn't cause violence, but follows it.`

And after one is killed the next comes easier due to the insanity with no remorse or empathy upon what he had done. Emotional Intelligence states fight or flight.......what makes a person fight rather then flight? Does it or is normal to fight first then flight or do we as humans have the split second choice of choosing fight or flight, in some cases the fight leads to the death of another. Can we control our choices in fight or flight situations?

Yeah I see your point. Once the law is after you the whole situation would change. Which is often the case. Also I think there are cold blooded killers and people that may actually feel sorry for killing someone. Some people are just more psychotic than others I think. That's why judges sentence different for different style killings.

True. But usually when someone commits a crime they do research and they find out that they were playing violent video games. Especially mass shootings. Just because science hasn't found a link yet doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I mean I used to play games like GTA and Doom and stuff like that and I was a pretty violent teenager. There had to be some kind of link. Especially when I don't play those kinds of games anymore and I'm usually not violent.

Don’t mean to come across as condescending here, but there’s no scientific evidence directly tying video games to cause violence.
There are studies that show those who enjoy more violent video games can be inclined towards violent reactions, however it’s not caused by the games themselves, and it’s a disposition that shows in both sets of people; gamers and non-gamers.

Most women play whatever they want; I definitely enjoy some pretty violent games but I’ve never, and doubt I ever will, committed a violent crime. Same goes for many of my male friends, however making broad generalisations from my own limited understanding would be a bit narrow minded ;)

Maybe im wrong here, but it seems like mass killings have increased over the years? I have no stats,. it just seems that way to me. When i was a kid i never heard of these killings like i do now, so have mass killings actually increased or do we just hear about them more now?

If they have increased then why have they? Something must have changed over the years, what was it?

I felt safe going to my highschool. But that was back in 1986. Here's the NY times FBI statement: F.B.I. Confirms a Sharp Rise in Mass Shootings Since 2000
