In Matthew 7, Jesus gave several sayings about judgment, hypocrisy, discretion, humility, discernment, fruitfulness. Many familiar themes are spoken for consideration and living. The character we're trying to adopt and actually be according to the Lord's good will.

He talks about listening to his sayings and doing the will of his Father. For our faith to stand in the face of challenges, we must build it upon solid ground. An unmovable and proven foundation to base our beliefs, yet also by which we're to live.

None of us are perfect or all knowing and powerful. Not one above the other or greater and wiser. We have one Father and one Teacher, our God and our Lord. Please read this chapter with me, when you have the time. Then just in the spirit think about what's been said to us. How we could better listen and serve as disciples and brethren.

Have you been baptized with the Holy Ghost?

Not by a local church or church officials. Since I've personally come to the Lord, I haven't yet been able to find and attend a church. But once my circumstances change so it's possible, I do want and know I need to have worship and fellowship within my life in person. Until then I'm relying upon faith doing my best with what I have. I believe the Lord is willing and forgiving, he knows what's in my heart.

Just clicked in my mind, you said with the Holy Ghost and not water. I'm not familiar with Charismatic teachings or what it means to you. I've had moments or periods when I feel nearer to God, I'm being inspired or guided in the Holy Spirit. As if I'm called for something or personally I'm getting my needs addressed, it's unexpected and peaceful times when I'm noticeably blessed. Literally feels like it's rest at the Lord's feet.

I don't believe it's unique to me or makes me special, just being repentant and seeking God. If you continue to endure the downs and wait for Him, when you come to Him and undoubtedly makes His presence known, the contrast of the ups and being raised in the Lord is a strong reminder that inspires and gives hope. It's a lasting impression of being with God and not losing faith, both in heart and in deed.

You are doing the same thing I do I don't need a outer church to find the kingdom of God that is within me as Jesus said it was . I am working on removing the beam in my eye (ego ) by studying myself for years . Being as a little child to enter the kingdom . Children have open minds to new things and innocence ( inner sense ) what is the truth and what is not. " The kingdom of God does not come with observation " So I do a lot of prayers every day to invoke " light " to clear the darkness , false beliefs in me . The path Jesus taught .

The Church is the assembly of Christians as members of Jesus' body. During the Last Supper he told them to break bread and pass the cup of wine in remembrance of him. When people came to Jesus and his disciples, he told them to feed the people before they left. The disciples who had told him to send the people away were surprised, not knowing how they'd feed the thousands having only five loaves and two fish. After bringing the food to Jesus, he gave a blessing as he broke the bread and divided the fish. He gave to the disciples whom did the same for the people, feeding them what they were given and having plenty left.

Full agreement with removing the beam in our own eye before trying to remove specks in others. But it's also important to not focus too much on ourselves. We're to remember the Lord in worship and fellowship, as we're to learn from him and share with others who're of him or come to him. So as you remember him, don't forget us. :)

Silence in most situations in my world today has proven my best ally.* When everyone around me has something to say, I keep silent. When so many people are quick to judge a person or situation at first glance, I have learned not to.

Years ago I began to suspend judgment within my mind and that pause gave space to new insights. Now an almost automatic response has taken place with myself and my family. When we see an accident, instead of any other response, we pray. When I hear gossip, I stay silent, let the moment pass, and pray.

I only pass this along in this instance as it pertains to your topic. (Matthew 7:1) By learning to suspend judgment in my thoughts it never comes out of my mouth and has allowed secret prayer to creep into my life. And now, years later, it's being expressed in the lives of my young children.

Hi Brotherly Spirit,

Thanks for the inspiration to read Matthew 7. I think my main take away lesson was what Jesus said in the verses below about the words He had just spoken (Matthew 5-7) being important and how we should at least try to implement them within our own lives.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-27

The wise person in the passage 1. heard and 2. did what Jesus had just been talking about. But the other person 1. heard, but (sadly) 2. did not do what Jesus was talking about and Jesus explained what would be the fates of both.

I noticed you have a verse from Matthew 6 quoted in your signature which was also inspiring, do you have any further thoughts yourself?

In peace and Christian love,
Jim
