Wow! I just read your post, so I called GLC and talked to Lauren(receptionist and old friend) and I am told Brad, Bill, Rico and Tony Robinson have all been booted or pulled out.

I'm in shock, my wife went through the roof. We have been recording them going back as much as 5-6 years, editing and burning the materials to DVDs and giving them out to shut ins and folks without DISH TV or computer access. We have things to record off the satellite automatically.

Anyway, where are they(the guys) going? When? Where? How?

A number of years ago Al and Tommie dumped Sam Peak, whom we know, and as a result lost Rabbi Chaim Richman(Temple Institute), whom we sponsored here in area this past July.

Called bank and cancelled GLCs automatic draw, monthly, on our account.

If you know when and where the guys are coming back on please tell us, ok? PLEASE!

aniello

Sorry you had to see the news of that all on a forum! Its been coming for awhile, first Eddie Chumney was forced out via email because he teaching or supposedly teaches two house genetic blood line then the rest left because of one of the 'mainstreamish' teachers, and the two men and one unnamed woman. Theres a man named Jim Staley who is trying to bring about a huge website that will house all those teachers and more, plus a lot of other exciting things, just a matter of funds. You can get to his site here. As you might know many of these guys are great friends and Jim has a live podcast of His Sabbath services and truly makes those online who have no home fellowship feel apart of his congregation. Jim just announced this a few weeks back so we really don't know how long it will take to get it up and running. You can go to Torahteachers and 119 Ministries also for loads of stuff.

shalom,
Mizz

I'm glad the Karaites signed that petition against him. He really is wasting time with those Messianics. I wish he would use his talents for teaching Karaism to Jews who are intrested instead of Messianics. Karaites don't support his work with the Messianics. We should be trying to teach Karaism to other jews and strengthens ties with the Rabbinites(even though we disagree with them we're still Jews and should have love for one another).

It's very impolite to come into another's home and dis them. Very bad form indeed.

Most Jews probably don't have a lot of interest in Karaites, and what's to teach? That they don't follow Oral Law? What's to learn past that?

Contra you have been here long enough to remember we used to have a member here that was Karaite. His name was Steve Caruso. He was some kind of Aramaic Scholar.

Let's see if I can find him here.
I actually had a fleeting thought that that guy might be Nehemia Gordon. Kinda scared me.

Karaites have been quite popular among Messianics. A lot of messianics despise Rabbinic Judaism because Orthodoxy refuses to accept Jesus as messiah. In the attempt to distance themselves from Rabbinic Judaism, Messianics have found themselves close to Karaites as they throw insults towards Rabbinic Judaism.

Contra, you'll find that Karaites have been around for some time and have recently found a growing movement. But since they outright reject any sort of halacha, you'll find that their historical relevance is hard to verify.

It is not that they reject any kind of Halakʰa, they just do not hold the Talmud as divinely received, and go strictly by the Masorah.

...study it out for themselves instead of taking their word for it.

Which is basically a Karaite trade mark, very well may be the original Solo Scripture party.

Nehemia Gordon's impassioned book Conspiracy of Silence... details his research into the proper pronunciation of the sacred tetragrammaton YHWH. He learned that mainstream Rabbis have quietly preserved the correct vowels since the time of Christ -- originally outlawed since the martyrdom of Rabbi Taradion in the wake of the bar Kochba rebellion -- and that the correct vowel markings are evident here & there in at least four of the oldest surviving Masoretic manuscripts:
 • Aleppo Codex
 • Leningrad Codex
 • Damascus Crown
 • Cairo Codex
The correct pronunciation is, in fact, essentially that promulgated by the Jehovah's Witnesses -- although Nehemia Gordon was not able to confirm whether the ancient pronunciation involved a "W" or a "V" sound.

I've listened to a few of his talks on the subject and they do make sense in this regard.

Have any of you heard about this? The Karaites are in an uproar over his latest affiliations.

Karaites Advising Nehemia Gordon

To: Nehemia Gordon

We, the undersigned practitioners of Karaite Judaism, are very concerned about Nehemia Gordon's work involving Messianic Christianity.

We are also concerned about the ever growing reaction on part of Christians who, due to the activities of Messianic teachers like Michael Rood, various Hebrew-roots preachers and our own Karaite Jew Nehemia Gordon, develop misunderstandings regarding the Israelite God, religion and people in the form of a new religion called, Messianic Karaism.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember back this past winter watching a broadcast from GLC where he and a Pastor named Keith Johnson, they were speaking about a book he had written and how they had become friends. Also about a trip they made together to Africa and the things that happened there. Keith met Nehemiah in Israel and insisted he teach him Hebrew, it went from there.

Anyway it seems he is being vilified along with Johnson on this site as well, saying these two are trying to convert believers away from Yeshua.

Exposing the ungodly behavior of the Karaite Nehemia Gordon and his Christian colleague, Pastor Keith Johnson

But she doesn't have a problem with calling a Karaite a pagan after pointing out what he said was wrong.

I do get the updates by Nehemiah Gordon so I shall have to take a look to see if he wrote anything about this.

I do feel I have to retract my personal "endorsement" of Gordon's investigations into the proper pronunciation of the Holy Name

Catholic encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Judaica, YRM.org and even Gesenius in Strong's Concordance all disagree with his conclusion

The scholarly consensus is "Yahweh" not "Yehovah"

Of course there are going to be disagreements, but it seems Nehemiah's research is a lot more recent than those you've citeded.

What is the proper pronunciation?

Obviously, no one wants to use The Name flippantly, much less "in vain" (= falsely, to swear to something in His Name... and then not do it / not have it be true / not make it come true)

Matthew 5:37 = James 5:12

Of course there are going to be disagreements, but it seems Nehemiah's research is a lot more recent than those you've citeded.
Which was better, Eden or the way things are now?

How would be a better preacher, Jesus Himself or anyone alive today?

New isn't automatically good -- Mr. Gordon does all this song and dance... and then comes right back to siding with the JWs on "Jehovah" (unless I'm somehow wildly misreading him) which everyone knows is the "hybrid" pronunciation from applying the vowel points of "Adonai" (subject to Hebrew grammar) to the tetragrammaton
