Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm really worried that I blasphemed against the Holy Spirit. I know the scriptures say that this sin will never be forgiven.

When I was angry one day I told my friend that Jesus died for glory and power and that he didn't die because he loves us. Right after I said this I saw a magical sign on my hand saying I was going to hell.

The only thing I can think of that explains this is that by telling my friend that I must have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit.

Is there any hope for me? I honestly feel like I've lost the gospel and can no longer be forgiven.

Thank you.

John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw """all""" men unto me.

(Jesus was crucified & Gods Holy Spirit will draw (NOT FORCE) """ALL""" to Himself)

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

(Jesus say's after His resurrection & ascension He will send the Comforter/Holy Spirit)

8 And when he is come, he will reprove (will convict) the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

(The Comforter/Holy Spirit will reprove/convict/reveal our sin/righteousness & judment)

John 8:24 Jesus said; ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

(The only unpardonable sin today is that of continued "UNBELIEF". There is no pardon for a person who dies in "UNBELIEF")

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
(Anyone that places their BELIEF in Christ ""WILL NOT"" be CONDEMNED)
(Anyone that REJECTS & remains in """UNBELIEF""" WILL be CONDEMNED)

"""UNBELIEF""" is the only UNFORGIVEABLE SIN.

A FULL PARDON awaits for anyone that will:

Accept God's undeserved grace: Place their faith in the sacrificial sin atoning death, burial & resurrection of Jesus the Christ.

Romans 10:
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

HERES WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MOMENT YOU ACCEPT CHRIST:
Eph 1:3 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed ""ye were sealed with that holy Spirit''" of promise
(WHATS THE "GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION"? AFTER YOU BELIEVED IN THE SIN ATONING DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. YOU WERE - "PAST TENSE"" SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT)

14 Which is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession
(YOUR SALVATION WAS SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT & IS GUARANTEED BY GOD. AT THE MOMENT YOU PLACED YOUR FAITH/BELIEF/TRUST IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST)

Tim 1:14 The Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you
(BELIEVERS ARE GIVEN THE HOLY SPIRIT> AS A DEPOSIT & A GUARD)

2 cor 1:22 Who hath also "sealed us" & "given the earnest" of the Holy Spirit in our hearts
(EARNEST = DOWN PAYMENT! UNTIL WE REVEIVED OUR NEW GLORIFIED BODY)
Eph 1:
13 salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were "sealed" with that holy Spirit of promise,
(BELIEVERS SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT)

2 Cor 5:5 God, who also hath given unto us the "earnest" of the Spirit
(EARNEST = SPIRITUAL DOWN PAYMENT! PLACED IN OUT HEART UNTIL WE RECEIVE OUR NEW GLORIFIED BODY)

Hello,

Someone who has committed an unforgivable sin is not worried about whether they have committed it, so if you are worried about it, then you have not committed it. We can not receive forgiveness when our hearts are not turned toward God, so unforgivable sins are unforgivable because they put us in an unrepentant state where our hearts are not turned toward God, but that does not mean that we can't repent and turn back towards God. Jesus said that if we do not forgive others, then we will not be forgiven, so unforgiveness is another unforgivable sin, but Jesus made a conditional statement, so we always have the option of repenting of our unforgiveness and turning back towards God. Conviction comes from God, which leads to repentance and turning back towards Him, but condemnation comes from Satan, which lead away from God, so be versed in the truth of God's Word so that you can recognize a lie and where it is coming from. We are told to take every thought captive and make it obedience to God (2 Corinthians 10:5).

It's not a matter of opinion...but what His Word says...so...let's examine Hebrews. First scripture I'd like to show you is one that literally made me cry with terror when I read it.

Hebrews 6:4-6 - For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the Word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

Ouch!! Granted, when I read this years ago I wasn't actually saved....I thought I was...based on false teaching and what not but now realized..I wasn't even saved at the time nor did I even have the Holy Spirit when I thought I did.

Next scripture..In Mark..let's examine what Jesus said about the matter..

Mark 3:23-30 - And he called them to him and said to them in parables, " How can Satan cast out Satan?. If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house. Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the HOLY SPIRIT never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin. for they were saying ' He has an unclean SPIRIT. "

When I was angry one day I told my friend that Jesus died for glory and power and that he didn't die because he loves us. Right after I said this I saw a magical sign on my hand saying I was going to hell.

I want you to examine what YOU SAID...and then examine what JESUS said. JESUS said...all sins will be forgiven the children of man AND WHATEVER BLASPHEMIES THEY UTTER....(( then the but )) BUT WHOEVER blasphemes against the HOLY SPIRIT...never has forgiveness..

Now what did YOU SAY?...You told your friend out of anger...that JESUS...died for glory and power and that he didn't die because he loves us. Did you say THE HOLY SPIRIT?....No. You said JESUS. And so be comforted in knowing that even the PHARISEES and SADDUCEES were blasphemous against JESUS Himself simply because they CRUCIFIED Him. They spat on him...MOCKED HIM...surely some one like you who said what you said out of anger to a friend is child's play in comparison to what they did to Jesus. But the key thing you need to note is...they did that TO JESUS...not the Holy Spirit...and what did JESUS say?

ALL SINS will be forgiven the children of man AND WHATEVER...BLASPHEMIES THEY UTTER...

So yes...you are forgiven for your blasphemous words AGAINST JESUS....cause you were not talking to the HOLY SPIRIT. key word....SPIRIT.

:)

Hello,

Someone who has committed an unforgivable sin is not worried about whether they have committed it, so if you are worried about it, then you have not committed it.

Be mindful that your opinion could lead to you becoming a false teacher. To say that if some one is simply worried about whether they committed the unforgivable sin DIDN'T commit it..and to say that whoever commits it is NOT WORRIED...is false teaching. I'll show you..

Matthew 7:22-23 - On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Notice how these people didn't even REALIZE...they were workers of lawlessness. They THOUGHT they were in the right and when the day comes...they will be utterly shocked when they find out Jesus never knew them. Why? Because JESUS SAW that they were actually workers of LAWLESSNESS. Do realize, that sin is sin, whether you know you are doing it...OR NOT. To be worried of a sin is not to be understood as NOT EVEN COMMITTING IT AT ALL....that sort of thinking leads people to Hell.

How?...the Word says this..

Romans 14:12 - So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
2 Corinthians 5:10 - For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Is it JUST for a JUST GOD to have us to HOLD OURSELVES accountable for our OWN LIFE if we have no IDEA WHAT WE'RE DOING?...Do you think that at the Judgment Seat Jesus will say " Oh..well because you didn't KNOW it was sin...You get a pass "...No. We all will be held accountable for OUR LIFE...the deeds we do as well as the words we speak. And if you're worried about something?...GLORY TO GOD!!...SEEK HIM and FIND OUT!! Because it's the HOLY SPIRIT that convicts us OF SIN!!

John 16:8 - And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:

It's the Holy Spirit that brings about concern of ANY SIN. So, if someone is worried about if they committed the unforgivable sin....do realize it's the HOLY SPIRIT alerting that person and leading them to FIND OUT if THEY ARE NOT SURE. Does not mean...that the SIN was not committed. Because with your LOGIC? You would be at the Judgment Seat of Grace giving an account to JESUS Himself saying..

" Well...I wasn't worried about if I committed it or not so I suppose I didn't even commit the sin, Lord "

Proverbs 4:7 - The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

Well, it is good to be concerned about such as "blasphemy". One should never speak against God, but the real thought in blasphemy is attributing to God evil purposes. If you spoke in anger, not meaning anything more than questioning how and why Jesus died, it might be forgivable. God knows what is in the heart, and though one might act in anger, it may not mean they are rejecting God.

The safe thing is to apologize and seek to know and trust God, by receiving His beloved Son --the Lord Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior, else you will have no part in God.

People get some pretty unusual notions about this particular verse. I think they are often misunderstanding what the verse is saying. You see, Jesus was standing right in front of Pharisees at times and they rejected that he was the savior that he says he was. How can anyone be saved if they are rejecting the savior and thinking instead that he is from Satan? He was saying that anyone who continues in the state of rejecting him remains in an unforgiven state, that's all. It is not like he was saying if you once fail to realize who I am or once say something against him you could never be saved if you later turn to him and ask for forgiveness. Jesus and the Holy Spirit in him were being rejected by the Pharisees and they had not turned to him. However, if at any given moment they had truly realized who Jesus was and had turned to him and asked him in sincerity for salvation, he would not have withheld it most likely. That is why the chapter with the verse (Luke 12) starts out with the statement: "Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy." Mind you, saying even once that Jesus is from Satan and not God is a very bad thing indeed, but it is only if a person remains in that state that they are unforgiven. And they are unforgiven, not so much for saying the thing, as for remaining in a state in which they fail to recognize that Jesus is the savior. They thought he was a horrible blasphemous sinner against God. If you recognize that Jesus is the savior, and you hope he can still save you despite this act you did, you are not subject to an impossibility of forgiveness towards yourself in the way that the verse is indicating. The verse is talking about people who continue to not understand that Jesus is the savior. Whether he saves you, and anyone for that matter, is up to him, but if you recognize him as the true savior God sent into the world to save, you are not in the condition the Pharisees were.

There are spirit that try to confuse people into believing they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit ( matthew 12:31-32 , mark 3:28-30 , luke 12:8-10 )

You spoke against JESUS so that is forgiveable. Speaking against the Holy Spirit isn't.

Just repent and ask JESUS into your heart.

Trust in Jesus and you will be forgiven. The sin against the Holy Spirit is turning away from God and never coming back to Him. What you did was only a mistake. Sinning against the Holy Spirit is making a choice to turn away from God forever. It is the Holy Spirit speaking to you that is the reason for your guilty conscience. Just ask for forgiveness and admit to your friend that you were wrong and trust that The Lord will forgive you.

21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

The only way you truly sin against the Holy Spirit is by disbelief in Christ and the Gospel He taught. So as long as you have not forsaken Christ totally, you have not sinned against the Holy Spirit. You've just sinned.

Blaspheme against means speaking against

  1. to speak reproachfully, rail at, revile, calumniate, blaspheme
  2. to be evil spoken of, reviled, railed at

There are consistent in the wording between them (whether speaking of blaspheming or speaking against). The two are used interchangeably, see below (Especially in Matthew 12:31-32)

Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you,
All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men:
but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

So there is all manner of blasphemy which men blasphemy but he is specific

Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:
but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Speaking a word against the Holy Ghost or Jesus Christ will be treated differently when it comes to forgiveness.

Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:
but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

So blasphemes can be forgiven even when Christ-ward (Since Christ was actually a sign to be spoken against) See Luke 2:34.

Mark 3:28-30
Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness,
but is in danger of eternal damnation:

It has to do with what is spoken, just as points out what they said

because they *said*,

He HATH an unclean spirit.

The Blasphemy here is in respect to their speaking, and who is being spoken against. They aimed at the Spirit in Jesus Christ and called what is Holy unclean in him attributing the works that Christ did (through the Holy Spirit) as an unclean thing.

Just including this to show it pertains to the manner of speaking as it pertains to blaspheme below

There is all manner of blaspheme. Paul even said that he was before "a blasphemer" confessing so much in 1 Ti 1:13. He also said the same was forgiven him for doing so (even in his unbelief and in ignorance). but on that point, to say that Paul was a blasphemer against the Holy Ghost (which Jesus said would not be forgiven men) makes no sense. You can be a blasphemer (and be forgiven blaspheming as there is all manner of sins and blaspheme men will be forgiven) just as Paul was also forgiven of blaspheme, but just because he was doesn't mean he was guilty of blaspheming the Holy Ghost. A word spoken against the Son of man would be forgiven because Jesus is set for a sign "TO BE spoken" against) even as Simeon stated so much in Luke 2:34

When we see Saul yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord Jesus in Acts 9:1 and those against the sect itself (as it was called) as is noted in Acts 28:22 he is shown as a persecutor of the Church (even Jesus Christ himself, Saul, Saul why persecutest thou ME"?)

So Saul can be shown to be both a persecutor (against the church) and injurious also (having delivered them up to death) and confessed to being a blasphemer beforehand (in 1 Ti 1:13) and even in Acts 26:11 we see he sought to compelled them to blaspheme.

Jesus does state that “all manner of sin and blasphemies” by which men blaspheme would be forgiven them even as a word against the Son of man, and it shall be forgiven them in Mat 12:32 and so likewise we see Saul/Paul stating that he has been forgiven of the same (blaspheme).

I am not sure how some conclude that Paul was guilty of blaspheming against the Holy Ghost (having been forgiven in the blaspheme with which he blasphemed) if Jesus said one could be forgiven of blasphemes just not against the Holy Ghost. Jesus puts a difference between blasphemes, he even puts a difference between himself being blasphemed and the Holy Ghost being blasphemed. They aimed at the Spirit in Jesus.

So there is blaspheming (and in all manner of it) which men do so where it shall be forgiven men and blaspheme where it shall not be forgiven also.

Again

Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you,
All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men:

but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

And Mark here speaks of "all mannner of sins and blasphemes"

Mark 3:28-30 Verily I say unto you,
All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men,
and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness,
but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Paul obtained mercy (forgiveness) for being a blasphemer

1 Ti 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious:
but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

I dont believe the kind of blasphemer he was before was that of the Holy Ghost

Blaspheming is shown in these two also

1Titus 1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander;whom I have delivered unto Satan,
that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Their blaspheme appears to be of that which can be forgiven men also (whether in this age or the next) as was Paul's who was before a blasphemer (and who found mercy).

These would not be...

But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness,

It has to do with what they said,

And because they *said*, He (Jesus) hath an unclean spirit.

As it was aimed at Jesus Spirit (by which he did his work).

Just as it says here,

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

It was by the Holy Ghost Jesus did so. As He was anointed with the same and he went about healing all that were oppressed of the devil

Whereas they attributed the works done by the Holy Ghost (in and through) Jesus to him "having" a Beelzebub (in him)

Mark 3:22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said,
He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

They were not speaking a word against the Son of man (a man in the flesh) but rather they were speaking words against the Spirit empowering Christ (even the Holy Ghost) by Whom Jesus did His good works through, even casting out devils

Whereas again, they said,

By the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

By the Spirit (with power) they are speaking to

Then he asked them,

How can Satan cast out Satan?

Theres their equation.

Every mention in the above is of the Spirit in Him (not of Him)

He (HATH) Beelzebub
and (BY) the prince of devils (iow Satan) he doeth these things
Saying he (HATH) an unclean spirit

So nothing of the Son of man is being touched in any of that but against the Holy Ghost that was in Him which was being referred to in those three ways. That was all against the Spirit in Jesus.

If you believed that Jesus performed miracles with the help of Satan, it becomes blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Doubting about Jesus Christ is not a blasphemy.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a willful, turning away from God. It is, on purpose, avoiding what you know the Holy Spirit is telling you to do, and it is done up to the moment someone dies. That is the only reason it cannot be forgiven; the person doesn't want to have a relationship with Jesus.

God will not make you go to Heaven if you do not want to be there. To do so, would be a violation of our free will given to us by a just and loving God.

If you feel bad for what you said, just ask for forgiveness or whatever you do when you feel you have sinned or offended God.

The bigger issue is the "magical sign" you say you saw on your hand.
