Like I said, it's your church's tradition to morph it:

Christogram - Wikipedia

Why don't you just accept that "Jesus" is a tradition of your religion?

If I were a religious Christian I would be proud to say that my religion is responsible for the traditions of Christmas, Easter, Jesus Christ, etc..., but I'm not.
Fine. Show me where Jesus' name is written in Hebrew. I'll wait.

Jesus' name is not written in Hebrew, because it is impossible to do so...thanks for waiting

There! I said it, and you can't get mad at me since my avatar is Wonder Woman smiling.

Christianity has more sects than I can count. Of course it's a religion. :)

It interests me that Christians, particularly from my chosen faith walk [Pentecostal/Charismatic], have demonized the term "religion".

There is a true religion and there are many false religions. Only true religion leads to God through Jesus Christ, all others offer false hope and expectations.

Christianity is a religion and it is the only one that leads to life everlasting. Follow the path. There is only one that leads to God.

And for me Christianity is a relationship with Jesus, the Christ, God. Religion happens in how we choose to express that relationship in rituals, and I am not knocking that as there is something strengthening and empowering that happens when we meet together. We need each other.

But the religion itself is not the relationship. At least Christianity as is displayed in religious practices/ritual/activities/beliefs is based on something real. All other religions are based on following rules, dogma, doctrine, specific dos and don'ts, methodology, etc. I think we Christians err when we make rules, dogma, doctrine, specific dos and donts, methodology etc. more important than the relationship with God.

I agree. For the sake of site membership I selected Christianity. But it is not a description I use outside of here. My relationship with the Lord is what I focus on. I pay no heed to the dogma, doctrine or creeds. I don't need a label.

In the end we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling. I think many people put more faith in human representatives. We were given the Holy Spirit for a reason but you'd never know that by looking at us.

As of today's count...the number of religions claiming to be of the Christian Faith total over 44,000 and is expected to reach 55K by 2025. This number includes any religious group/organization that claims to adhere to the Christian beliefs including cults....it is alarming.

And how many actual do as Jesus commanded, Putting the will of the Father before the will of man and love all as self, including reducing the suffering and oppression of all in the world. Would that step on the political and economic toes of your own nations?

Make the Kingdom great, not the oppressive nature of man.

YES! The Canard of "Christianity is not a religion but a relationship" also rubs me the wrong way too! It's like those people have never ever read the epistle of James that uses the term "religion" positively two times if I recall.

I also like what Joseph Campbell said on some of his books and lecturers on World religions (Hero of a Thousand Faces and others). He mentioned that the term religion comes from 2 related Latin words, religio and religare which basically mean "to link". It refers to the desire of Humans to link or be in relationship with the Creator God. This is something that people have a desire for even though being pagans they don't know who the true Creator and God is (The Trinity). But this is a basic concept that is utilized by saint Paul on Mars Hill in the Book of Acts and by Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and some other Church Fathers.

So yes religion does describe something beyond the practices and attitudes of the Pharisees.

That's the saddest part....they keep spinning off of other religious denominations...creating their own....making the Bible become something that tolerates their ideologies and lifestyles.

If only christians would "Follow Christ".......... Sigh!

It is sad that you think you don't see it. Perhaps you don't know Christ to see if others are following? Tell us, what is it you would like to see and, how do you know that what you would like to see is the real Christ?

Does "christianity" match anything written in the Bible....?

3-main religious groups in world today

1; Jerusalem - Judaism, Line of Yitzhak + Ya'akov etc
2; Rome - christianity, Line of Esav
3; Mecca - islam, line of ishmuel

For 1200yr we have Rome + Mecca battling for the control of Jerusalem
Likened to esav & ishmuel fighting for the inheritance (Kingdom of heaven / the land) because Ya'akov (Jews) was cast out by the Romans in the 2nd century & the other sons want to claim this hottest piece of land on Earth.
Then (Mecca) islam lost control to (Rome) christianity in 1917 (Battle of BerSheba)
Then (Rome) christianity gave it back to (Jerusalem) Judaism in 1948

Who is christianity / rome / esav likened to today....?

The northern kingdom, known as Ephraim / House of Israel / Yosef depending on the author & context

What was a characteristic of Ephriam that matches a characteristic of christianity today...?

Follows the God of Avraham but........
Changing the times & Laws.
Removal of Sabbath
Removal of feasts
Removal of calendar system
mixing of pagan gods & their systems into their world
Rejection of "Law of Moses" in many area's according to personal interpretation

When one examines the above (brief) list they would be unable to determine if this is describing the northern Kingdom (Ephraim / House of Israel) or christianity / Rome.

1-JOHN 02:06
If you are in Messiah, you must walk as Messiah walked

Messiah kept Sabbath........... Do christians walk His way...?
Messiah kept Festivals........... Do christians walk His way...?
Messiah ate kosher............... Do christians walk His way...?
Messiah covered his head...... Do christians walk His way....?
Messiah wore tzit tzit............ Do christianis walk His way...?

I see a lot of "great works" in the christian faith all in His name.
Sadly, all those great works are in vain if they don't "walk as he walked"
See MAT 07:21-28 (message to the christains)

What is the opposite of 1-JOHN 02:06.....?

If you are NOT walking the same way Messiah walked, then you are NOT in Messiah....

It's a simple but also a fearful concept friends.....

With Messiah arriving any time now. My christian friends should seriously consider looking into the original "Jewish way" our "Jewish Messiah" walked................
