the OCA was granted autocephaly by Russia in 1970. 1/3 of Orthodoxy recognizes the OCA as autocephalous, 1/3 say no, 1/3 have said neither. all affirm the OCA's canonical status.
There is a need obviously for way to work out these kinds of disagreements.

But the deed has been done by the EP or am I misunderstandin? The Ukrainians have effectively rebelled against the ROC. And the Ukrainian Orthodox Church apparently doesn't feel the need to receive communion in Russian Orthodox Churches, this means THAT much to them. I'm not trying to argue, that's just how it looks to me.

Your misunderstanding the situation due to the way the media has portrayed it.
That church you read about in the media that the EP supposedly gave autocephaly to is NOT the Ukranian Orthodox Church autonomous to Moscow.

That new church structure you keep reading about were a merger of two vagante sects (they have been around for decades) which the Kiev government has chosen to be the new state religion of Ukraine.
All those famous monasteries in Ukraine and the overwhelming majority of parishes and clergy in Ukraine are still under the autonomous Ukranian Orthodox Church headed by Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev in communion with Russia.
The new structure created by the EP is not in communion with Russia, nor the majority of the Orthodox Churches. For example the Serbian and Polish Orthodox churches have already publicly said they do not recognize this new state church as having apostolic succession. The same goes with Antioch and Alexandria etc.

Okay, but it would be nice to see a source. If they don't formally recognize us as autocephalous, that's their business, but I'm not okay with just accepting this without any citation whatever.
It was told to me by someone in Met. Tikhon's entourage that was there when it was said.

there are, it's been less than 50 years. no need to be impatient. the good news is the OCA's canonical status is recognized, so the OCA is seen as being totally Orthodox, and is fully in communion with the rest of the Church.
