• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

At least you have a good mood. About feeling sick, how possible do you think that you're suffering from some mild poisoning? I remember previously how it was something in the water making you sick, and things weren't right in your blood tests. How's your eating? Oh and good morning.

Not sure what was wrong. i took an antihistamine because my skin was really itches and flushing. i think it might be the niacin i'm taking ever since i changed the tablets did this problem begin to occur. This is the second time it has happened.

Will keep trying to identify what the problem might be.

And if you fail to do so, I would suggest that one thing that I already know you don't like me suggesting. So I won't say it, and in any case it's enough that you know what I mean. (look how cunning I tried to be and ended up looking like a clown!)

How great it is in enjoying love of brotherhood in Jesus Christ. Cage can not prevent sunshine into heart , making heart warm. 1Tim2:1-3 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior. May Believers including I be not accused in the presence of God and earthly judgers.

Many blessings to you.

That’s exactly how I react to niacin, Gerry, though I know I took far less dosage than you do.

I can’t handle even a little. Don’t know what changing brands may have to do with it. Possibly the manufacturer foumulates their product a bit differently.

That’s sad that you have skin cancer
Thank you for your comment; I appreciate it.

This is nothing new to me. I lost my left eye in the mid 1980s due to a dangerous melanoma growing inside it. Since then it’s been easily treatable precancerous moles and such on the skin. Lost count how many I’ve had removed. Cancer has been chasing me for 34 years....lol!

I am blessed that I am actually quite healthy for a 66 year old man. Regular gym attendance after retirement has helped a lot.

Chemical imbalance depression is my other nemesis. Prayer, scripture study, hobbies, community service work, holding myself responsible for everything I think, say and do plus the wonderful support and inspiration I get from the people on this forum keeps me going. God is good!

I've been so-so. I got approved for more state mental health services. Not sure how I feel about that. I guess I will give them a try, couldn't hurt.
I agree. It doesn’t hurt to use everything at your disposal. You may discover something to help you. All the best!

You are a valuable addition to our family here. You must deal with perseverance so many things the rest of us take for granted. Be blessed!

That's right, give it a go. Some of it may work, and even if it didn't, you might experience some warm, truthful human connection and that's a reward of its own. Plenty to gain!

God is good!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's funny - in the best encouraging way - how someone "lols" at their decades old cancer battles, lost eye, and even depression...and ending it all with saying that God is good. I'm all smiles reading that. You rock(and not only figuratively, as I've come to know)! Indeed, God is good. I'll take some of that positivity with me, if you don't mind.

Thank you, Tempura! I really didn’t see that till just now....lol!

As you and Jeshu know, I have my share of bad days. But I think one blessing of getting old is that, if one looks at life in a healthy way, they can say “Look at all the stuff that’s been thrown at me, and I’m still here!”

There’s something humbling in realizing that there are more days behind me than in front of me, even under the best conditions. I was about 50 when the realization came that I wasn’t going to be here forever; some of my goals have been realized and some haven’t. I don’t have everything I want but have everything I need.

I have a prostate biopsy on the 24th that may reveal cancer or may not. On the other hand, I ran 6 miles today and feel great. My life is in the hands of our Creator.

It has been good to get more acquainted with you via messaging. My love to you, brother, and thanks again for the encouraging comments!

Yes i remembered you tell me that you got sick from it. i used to take quick release niacin. This would make me flush red as a beet root but only for an hour or so and then the flush would subside. This time i bought slow release niacin without realising, still the same make, but differently made. i have hardly been flushing from these tablets. To be honest i missed the flush for the better i flushed the better my day was going to be, while other times i hardly flushed and then i would take a little more.

However this is the second time i have woken up at mid night flushing red, swollen and itchy and sweaty. i had to take anti histamine to get the reaction to go away but it would leave me feeling very ill. I don't understand how come i've been taking this niacin now already for a few months and i have had only two reactions from them. Why then and not otherwise? i haven't worked that out yet. Maybe i ate something with niacin in it as well or something. Or maybe it is accumulative. Or maybe it has to do with my liver not working well.

Anyway i cut my niacin in half and try that for awhile and see if that helps. Next time i buy the fast release tablets again i took them for a whole year without any problems.

Mood is good again today. i hope you are doing fine as well.

Peace.

Glad to hear you are well.

Yes, could be a temporary overload of niacin in your system; just speculation. I’d probably do what you are......cutting the dosage to see what happens.

That's right you can always see if something good is going on. The state mental service over here wasn't good for me, so i dropped them, but other people did get good things from there.

Sorry to hear your mood has been mixed lets hope it improves from here.

Quite depressed, it doesn't help that I don't have many people at all to talk to about it. I'm used to it though, although I have always wished things would change.

Sorry to hear that you are down, that is not a nice place to be, especially if you have no loved one you can talk about it with. Depression is one of the worst of afflictions, it robs us of our sunshine and of our energy.

Still fighting our depressive thoughts with God's promises works well to keep our heads above water even when depression keeps pestering. It is amazing how much more ability to get through the hard times The Word has provided me with. Also having online friends here at C.F has helped a lot. It is good when others care, help and pray for you when you are down the dumps, i've really appreciated that from this forum.

You are most welcome to hang around here as well, i'm sure you will find some people to befriend.

Blessings

Glad to have you here though. Lot of compassionate people in here, and everyone knows what depression is. One good thing about it though, not about depression itself but how God can work with and through it. Nothing is as invaluable as God's love, and when we have nothing else, it becomes easier for us to see it, even unknowingly stumble towards it and He's pulling us all the same. It's weird how He seems to work at times. I'll say a prayer for you, for you to get more companionship and comfort. Hope you feel welcome here, because you are.

You liked video games didn't you? I'm booting up Civ V right now to pass the time until the stores open.
